Yes, it is very obvious from the videos that this game is slop. On the other hand we have people here who spent money, which means they are invested into convincing themselves that the money was well spent. Also fanboys of the franchise who will defend it no matter what. Now sure you can also say the the youtubers have an interest in creating drama/negative attention. But it goes both ways and at least they present an argument in video form instead of "trust me bro" and "feels".

I mean, the game is IMO nothing special, but enjoyable if you liked Mafia 1/2. Still, you call people shills while "trusting" the most obvious clickbait trash youtubers. How does anyone look at those thumbnails/titles and not realize what kind of "content" those youtubers make is beyond me. So many people with completely fried brains nowadays.

No idea how I'm a shill only because I bought the game and actually enjoy it while even acknowledging the flaws I think it has.Well, I managed to get some gametime into this yesterday. It's incredibly good looking and Enzo just learned the ropes of the business. Constantly stopping during traveltime to see if there are collectibles. I think I needen't worry about that so early in. Stopped playing as soon as I hit chapter 4. Playing it in Sicilian cause why not? Good writing and so far very likeable (read believable) characters.
Gameplay is very basic. Everything you'd expect from an action/adventure game is in here. Doesn't reinvent the wheel anywhere so far, but also no hassle in learning unnecessary mechanics. Minor upgrades, (cover)shooting and simple stealth (proper description byHumdinger ).
I'm having a good time with it and can't wait to play more once I'm done with work for today.
That you rather have moving images (video's) than plain text is all fine, btw. I'm not "calling you out" because of that.
I do call you out, because I find it odd at the very least how everyone here is a "shill" only because MAYBE some people are fanboys or anything else you don't find trustworthy. Like you already said yourself: How is a Youtube any different?

Both. Some are forced stealth, meaning if you're detected it's mission failed. However, so far at least, the vast majority of missions start in stealth, but it's up to you if you want to keep it that way.
That I don't even care about, tbh. It's calling everyone in here a shill and/or unable to form an (honest) opinion, is where the stupidity of his post comes from.

Yeah, I'm having fun with the game, but it's definitely easy. I think I've died once during a gunfight, gotten caught once during stealth, lost a knife fight once, and had to repeat one small section of a car race. I'm not particularly good at games, so people with more skills will be able to get through it without dying once. Even someone as reflex-compromised as me is finding it very easy. Fun, but easy. Tbh, I like my games on the easy side, so it's not a problem for me; in fact, it adds to the enjoyment. But if you are someone who likes a challenge in his/her gaming, don't go with the normal/default difficulty. From what I've heard, even "hard" mode is relatively easy.

Yeah, I respect that. I don't try to persuade anyone that I'm right or wrong. I just say my opinion. I realize that other people have different tastes and preferences, and that everyone's opinion is a reflection of their subjective experience, not an objective assessment. And I don't get ego-invested in games. Some people seem to take it as a personal offense if someone doesn't like a game they do. It's like you slapped their sister or something. To me, it's just a game, not that big a deal. You don't like it, you don't like it, ok, fine.

Yeah, very cinematic. Lots of walk & talk, drive & talk, gallop & talk segments. Most Mafia games are heavy on story. This one might be heavier than most, I'm not sure.
I haven't had any performance issues myself, but I'm on PS5 Pro. The performance complaints seem to be coming mostly from PC (?).
Stealth is a matter of taste. I like it fine myself - mainly because it's easy and doesn't involve trial and error frustration - but others don't.

Performance on my PC (7800X3D + RTX 4080 Super) at 4K and 1440p and with different settings.
These are the settings that the game uses by default on my PC. 'Epic' for everything except shadows (shadows set to Epic settings tanks 10fps).
Custom high settings - I have everything set to high, except for the draw distance and texture settings, which are set to Epic. Setting the draw distance to Epic drastically improves the level of detail and texture quality at a distance, and the framerate is only 3 fps worse.
The combination of 4K resolution and UE5 is brutal and even the RTX 5090 cannot run these UE5 games at 4K with a high refresh rate without the help of AI. Considering all of that I feel like I'm getting good performance from my GPU in Mafia (4K DLSSQ+ FGx2 120-140fps, or 200fps at 1440p DLSSQ + FGx2). Other than Robocop, UE5 games don't run any faster on my PC, and they often stutter when you're moving around the map (traversal stutters). Mafia on my PC is fairly smooth in that regard. The image quality of DLSS is also very good (even the DLSS performance looks 4K like), but I recommend using the E preset because the default K preset produces strong shimmering around the moving grass. As for other AA methods in the game, I only recommend TSR. With the quality TSR settings, there is a small amount of shimmering, but it's much less noticeable than with FSR3 and XeSS.

Aye man if folks complained about Hellblade 2, they better not say anything here cause up till chapter 4 and this is just as linear, if not more, lol. I've only really had one combat encounter, the rest is walking and talking and the occasional scripted knife fight in between. Walk 10 ft away from the mission and you start getting the "return or mission will fail" message.
I do like that Enzo's hair visibly grow / change with each chapter. Natural character progression like this is nice and rarely seen in games.

I didn't like Mafia 2 to begin with and if the gameplay is even more lacking in the new one then I'm not interested. Mafia 1 was a cinematic game but not at cost of lacking in core mechanics, mission design and (true) immersion. It had a good story too and very important to the experience, of course. But if the new entry suffers the same bullshit of a lot of modern cinematic games and don't have the basis what made Mafia different than GTA besides being more story driven (specially when Rockstar games became more story-driven nowadays)...It's not for me then. Unless, of course, our partner was wrong or the story is sooooo good to compensate its faults (and I'm not saying about "Mafia 2 story good" level, specially with its bland protagonist and that non-ending) .
