Xbox One games would sometimes hit 1080p but for several engines due to limitations you often saw 800p or 900p compared to 1080P and 900[ on the PS4.
With the PS5, you have a console that's significantly weaker than the Series X, already showing a further gap in power presently, and as developers learn how to utilize these systems within the next 5 years the gap will be even bigger.
It may be that we see 4K-30 and 4K-60 games on the Series X with decent ray tracing, enhanced particle effects, dynamic and resistant shadows, and real-time lightning, but just see upscaled 4K at 30fps and generic graphical effects with the PS5 that are not much different than the PS4Pro.
As developers dig deeper into the silicon of the Series X exploiting new advancements in A.I. and graphics technology the PS5 will be left far behind. When you add the handicap that the PS5 can't improve the CPU and GPU at the same time and has to choose one to push ahead at the expense of the other, along with limited ram, how can you possibly still get next generation experiences on the PS5 even just 2 years from now?
It seems like a PS5 Pro may be coming a bit early this time around to try and cover the major power gap. It also means that multiplats will switch back to the Series X like the 360 days which will hurt the PS5 in many places outside Asia and parts of Europe, which will lead to a Series X American victory and possibly edging out the PS5 for the number 1 spot Worldwide like the 360.
It's clear that Cerny wanted to pull another PS4 with the PS5, release an extremely weak but cost effective console, but did the bare minimum so it would have some new technology in it. But this time they hit the ball and missed to strike, as they can on paper by 2023 be up to 235X% behind in technological prowess due to the weakness of the specifications they chose.
It's clear that Cerny was a one hit wonder and it's time to replace him, at least for hardware. The PS4 was the first console that wasn't made to be difficult to make games for on purpose, as that's how Sony trapped developers back in the day, and now they are moving back to their old tricks smh.
With the delays currently ongoing with manufacturing plants it's not too late for Sony to make some last minute adjustments to save PlayStation, since that's the only division along with their insurance that's profitable and still open.
