Oh, man, this guy is exactly what the people in this room want - Christian, folksy, ostensibly nonracist and completely bland.
Just to be clear for the NeoGAF members who may be confused by contemporary Republicans: when you see Republicans that are genuinely upset and offended at being characterized as bigots and whatever, it is because they are/identify with people like Pence here.

I think the only one with their political career intact in 2020 will honestly be Ted Cruz. Marco Rubio should have the stones that Cruz just displayed if he wanted another shot at it, and reforming the party in 2020.

Ted Cruz is a principled conservative who advocates the Reagan agenda. Proud to be voting for @tedcruz.

Love it.

Yeah, who wants intellectuals planning things? What good have intellectuals ever done for us?!?

(Do these people even know what they are saying?)

Cruz accomplished what he set out to do. None of these other speakers can get out from under the shadow of that, Eric was closest but Newt and Pence just can't energize the crowd much at all.

To all politicians,

I don't give two shits about what your dad or grandfather did for a living. Why do you keep doing this?!?!
Getting a 'yes', or in the case applause, from someone is one of the basic rules of sales. The GOP doesn't have a good product to sell but they want you to support them anyway so they repeat bullshit lines about freedom and their parents working hard and shit so people will clap.

They identify with a guy who would send a gay child to conversion therapy?

Pence is a bigot.
Oh no doubt. They all are. But they are from places like Indiana where they never actually face an opportunity to see their bigotry in action so they think it doesn't exist. They don't see the consequences of their actions. They are evil in that special way only folksy, wholesome small-town people can be.

Dude, America loves Obama. Don't bring that up!

Also, tell that to Kansas, who's conservative principles ended them in shit.
