One more newbie question- are closer pitchers;

1) Really good pitchers that don't have the arm to go consistently long like a regular pitcher

2) Really good pitchers that aren't consisten enough as regular pitchers when it comes to pitching well

3) Average pitchers

It has a bit to do with endurace obviously, but its also to do with their style also. Closers need to keep cool in high pressure situations. A Closer needs to be effective against batters from both sides of the plate, and usually should have a powerful fastball with 1 or 2 side pitches. By comparision, a starter who see's more innings would have a few more then 2 or 3 pitches. Usually.
