why is eddie guererro's wife even on tv? did wwe just give her a job cuz they felt like they owed eddie's family.
Believe it or not, she's one of the best heels in the entire company right now.

Nobody else gets as much heel heat as she does.

Tell me about it. Michaels was hands down the most charismatic and creative wrestler there has ever been. Sorry Rock fans. As much as I appreciated The Rock in the beginning, his act and one liners became so repetitive I could barely stand it when he came on screen anymore. One of my favorite matches in WWF history is Hogan vs. Rock at Wrestlemania, simply because his shtick had become so old at that point that after years of sounding like a broken record, the fans finally started to boo him.

The Rock was really entertaining early on starting as a heel and during the first few months or so of him becoming a crowd favorite, but he just wasn't able to stay fresh and come up with new material.

All the big superstars of that era (And perhaps later on, but I stopped watching then) ended up following that same path. Stone Cold's "WHAT?!" shit is what got me to turn it off for good.

So The Miz is just a douche? That's, like, his character?

He's kind of like the unholy combination of a douchebag and dudebro.

You can see why people love to hate him.

And to be fair, the Rock's character was basically just a HUGE narcissist. I mean, that's it. He just has insanely good mic skills to carry it, and had GoAT-caliber people to work off of (Austin, HHH, Hogan, Angle, etc).

a bag of money would have been better

She is actually earning her money this way though--I agree with RBH, she gets the most heat of any heel in the company.

Her, "Excuse Me!!" is insta-heat.

It's almost Pavlovian...

You could say that about just about any superstar though. Every HUGELY popular face started off as a creative heel.

As in any story, the villain is always the most interesting character. Nobody watches The Dark Knight to see Batman.

Stone Cold? Check.
Rocky? Check.
HBK? Check.
HHH? Check.
Undertaker? Check.
Hardyz? Check.
Dudley Boyz? Check.
Angle? Check.
Jericho? Check.

You can look back through history all the way to Ric Flair, and look forward all the way to just recently with Randy Orton. People start to cheer heels, because everybody loves to live vicariously through the guy who gets to break the rules.

Uh...Razor Ramon (WWF)/Scott Hall? Check.
Kevin Nash? Check.
Hollywood Hogan? Check.

OG nWo was the best heel stable in years! That and OG D-X was always amazing TV.

Said it last page and will agree again. As much as I loved the Rock and Austin, the beginnings of the NWO are the best bits of wrestling in the last 20 years IMO (I refuse to believe anything since I stopped can compare even w/o seeing it). Their antics were absolutely legendary..WWF just couldn't compete at that moment in time.

Until everyone was in nWo or the wolfpac.

So just to be clear, has the rock actually made an appearance on Raw, or is there just talk that he is going to be a part of wrestlemania?

Oh shit, flipping Mysterio on the ladder, ouch...

[edit] OH wait, he said "Where the fuck was Vicky?" What was she supposed to do, catch him? lol
Vickie missed her cued HORRIBLY. She was supposed to interfere much earlier, so Rey had to improvise and pull Eddie off. Eddie landed poorly on his ankle and was pissed off. Notice they did it a minute later and this time Vicki came out. It was a funny botch shown in Botchamania.

WRESTLING FANS PLEASE START WATCHING BOTCHAMANIA from Botchamania 1.

Caught the episode of RAW based on this thread and the hype... I must admit, I did mark out when the theme played, but it's also kind of sad to see him slumming it.

And, I thought "Cena swallows" was a meme from like 5 years ago. Do smarks still hate him after all the Kurt Angle stuff?

Was The Rock really away for seven years? I stopped watching the WWE about 3 or 4 years ago. Last time I saw Rock was in Wrestlemania 20.

Also, is he back for good? As in wrestling again full time? I doubt it.

NWO was amazing at the time. It basically single-handedly changed the face of wrestling in North America. All of sudden, a wrestling show looked like a gang war. This fake world where every conflict is settled with violence FINALLY looked like it was inhabited by violent people.

You had sudden, seemingly spontaneous attacks, beat-downs, promos, and counter-attacks. The world felt less scripted, more chaotic. You had to tune in to see what would happen next.

The problem is, WCW milked it to death quick. The elite group of three was diluted with crappy mid-carders, and feuds started being built around what color shirt you were wearing. Worse still, changing shirts somehow replaced heel turns and face turns. Changing shirts suddenly replaced developing characters.

By the beginning of 1997, with Austin and Bret Hart beating the shit out of each other every week, I was starting to feel like WWF was getting to be the edgier, more intelligent program. I mean, just watch these in order:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pg73pqdFPaA

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WA0rjMTBbG0&feature=related

Add in the rise of the Rock, the subversive, anarchistic DX, and the eruption of the Austin/Mcmahon feud, and the the milked NWO just couldn't compete.

Haha yeah, I actually have some memories of some of this stuff.

I remember the nWo Wolfpack came about, and then the Latino World Order. lol

No wonder they went out of business.

This talk of heels got me thinking about Brian Danielson and his awesome heel run with the ROH belt back in the day. Would love to see him turn in the WWE.
He was great in his one episode run as a heel in Nexus. Only to return months later as a face, a very boring face. Fucking creative.

Shoulda seen what he just did live on Raw. Greatest thing I have seen in wrestling in a very very long time.
Well of course. the Rock is from a different era of wrestling than the current roster.

I swear I saw people in the crowd shouting "YA" with glee every time The Rock said ass or bitch. As if they were happy to finally be treated like adults again amidst all of this PG bullshit that the organization has been trying to shovel down their throats.

His wrestling days are over.

I stopped watching wrestling a few years ago. Though if the Rock is on TV again, I'm going back to watch it. That was the best entertainer ever on wwe.

Yeah I stopped watching around the time Rock left. Don't think that's why I stopped, just kind of got sick of it. (Maybe it was why, can't really remember) Can't believe how epic that return was. Might have to start watching again.

Edit: Is it true he won't be wrestling again? He still looks in brilliant shape.

I think Rocky is content to do his movies and collect his checks.

He may drop an elbow at Wrestlemania, but I doubt he'll do any wrestling.

the original NWO reveal is probably the single illest event i've ever seen in wrestling. no lie, I cried like a fucking baby (i was 5. so what). its even better now that I understand the rationale and backstory behind it. too bad the rest of the WCW sucked compared to the Attitude Era.

I know the Rock will probably only show up every now and then to say a few words until his hosting gig at WM27 (whatever that is), but with Stone Cold hosting tough enough, Booker and Nash being back in the WWE, the inevitable return of HHH, and the rumored participation of HBK in WM27, I just ask for a month or two of attitude era awersomness! Then Vince can get back to his PG nonsense with Cenas, Ortons, and Mizs; I'll be satisfied for another 5 years :P

Mr. Sam said:
Actually, you can and that's why she's done an excellent job.

How crazy is it that Vicky and Michael Cole get most of the heel heat? I want to hate CM Punk but his mic skills and in-ring ability make me want to cheer him every time. I want Miz to succeed because this guy is one of the biggest wrestling fans that is also a wrestler. You can see his love for wrestling back in the Real World/Road Rules days. There isn't a pure heel that fans absolutely hate. Maybe Cena is the guy? Del Rio can be that guy but he needs more time.

NWO was fantastic when it first came out. It's a pity they retreated back to being more of a Kid friendly version while WWF went more Teen.

Kind of funny: the Rock has shown he is a capable actor in films.

Yet he had to actually "dumb down" his own acting ability to do that WWE promo.

I despise Vicky and Del Rio but that's the the idea. They do their jobs very well. Michael Cole is getting on my nerves too. I love Punk though. He's a great heel so far.

I thought Punk should've won the rumble. I haven't really been keeping up with stuff and I didn't really know who Del Rio was. When I saw him win I called bullshit because I thought it was just some nobody winning this major event. I still think it should've been Punk though. They should've had the Nexus guys come out a bit later and dominated until the end. With only the 5 of them left in the ring, Punk would stand in the middle of the ring with his fist raised while the others each took a respective corner, raised their fists, and jumped out leaving Punk the victor.

...

Well I thought it would've been awesome.

:p

In what way? I doubt he gets the chance to do any improv in his film career.

Why do the fans not have as many signs as their used to be? I remember when I watced everybody had some form of a sign. This past Monday I barely saw any.

WOW!!! Rock's finally back. Like SO many others here, I haven't seen wrestling since like 2002ish. Def gonna check in to RAW now. Just wanted to know, are Batista and Undertaker still in it? And any chance of Brock Lesnar coming back?

I remember this match, must have been Wrestlemania 2000 I think, Rock Vs Austin for the World championship. Anyone seen the video around? I think Austin won it. Man, those were the days.

Batista left, The Undertaker has been injured but will be returning to Raw this Monday. Brock Lesnar wanted to do something apparently at this year's Wrestlemania, but sources say UFC wont let him.

Still 6 and half weeks until Wrestlemania, anything can happen. Great to see The Rock back, whatever he ends up doing at the show, or in the weeks leading up to it, I'm sure it will be great.

Remember though, there are some good new talents ready to break out of the shadow of the Attitude era, we'll just have to see if they can make it happen this year.

The WWE has had some stupid sign policies for the past few years. In the old days, they would let anything in, then they decided to start taking away signs that went against their creative direction(Re: pro heel signs and anti babyface signs were always taken).

Also, it's just not as hot as it used to be so not as many people want to make signs. Sign making in general was just more popular back then too.

^ Batista left? Why is that? Such a shame. I always thought he was better than Cena, his storyline with HHH and Orton as friends falling out was great. Sigh.

Fatties annoyed him

...or he disagreed with the WWEs direction at the time

I had no idea that there was a PG direction for wwe now.

Like, that is so at odds with the wrestling I used to watch I cant even believe it.
