It's hard to argue against the Saturn V.

Essentially a massive controlled explosion to propel 50 metric tons into lunar orbit. It made this awesome sound at launch because the turbulent flow of expelled gas would keep breaking the sound barrier.

7.5 million pounds of thrust.

I saw the display at the Johnson Space Center last year. It was definitely impressive.

However, the design of rockets and vaccines are dictated by their functionality. I would give the nod to something like the Hagia Sophia or Notre Dame. I don't think modern man could build stuff like that even if we wanted to.

This bad girl has three working orifices - does the Saturn V have that?

Objectively, OP is spot on.

But damn, the X15 has always captured my imagination.

Wow, Mike Stoklasa has range!

The X-15 is pretty darn cool. It's no SR-71, but it's up there. I remember flying the X-15 in Flight Simulator X and having my mind blown that this thing had skids in place of rear landing gear. Suffice it to say, I crashed the thing into a "neighborhood" at the end of the runway. Good times.

Saturn V still amazes me and Elon Musk's Starship will be right there when it is operational.

I love the fact that Space X can land their rockets on end and reuse them, just like science fiction thought they should.
