Released to rave-reviews on Steam already, this has the talents of the legendary music director/composer Yuzo Koshiro behind it! When he's involved then you know this is a notable release in the gaming calendar!

To be released on all current consoles I think by September, the game emulates being natively developed for Sega's one hit wonder of a console- the Sega Genesis/Megadrive, and easily pushes that system to it's limits...(actual cartridge release in 2026...if all goes to plan..)

This game easily stands up there with shoot-em-up royalty like Thunderforce, as being one of best games in it's genre...

Further insight here:

Looks great! Love these classic style shmups and with the soundtrack by legendary Yuzo Koshiro, it´s and absolute and sure buy! Thanks for the heads up, kind Sir RAIDEN1 RAIDEN1

I´ve been waiting for the release of the Raiden Fighters Remix Collection and this year (with R-Type Delta HD) sure will be great for shmups fans.

I only need Raiden 2 and DX with some modern traits rereleases on consoles and will be happy forever, lol.

The bad news is, that Limited Run Games are behind the physical release of the game, so don't hold your breath for a 2026 cartridge release for this game...

Yeah that took the wind out of my sales for trying to get a cartridge. I've only dealt with Limited Run Games once, it was for their physical "Streets of Rage 4" cartridge with Sega Genesis/Mega Drive packaging. Took a long, long time to actually get it from them. I was happy with the final product but the non existent communication and sheer slowness of the process soured me on doing business with them again....

Wow, and Game Sack pointed out Ancient did SoR2. I bring that up since the old Next Generation magazine basically thought anything good from Sega was done by Overworks. (Which was especially hilarious given that they thought Overworks designed WonderBoy in MonsterWorld which was Westone, not Sega.)

Meh... Honestly none of these new shmups have anything on the classics from the tg16/pc engine era. These just don't compare.

I have yet to see anything resemble blazing lasers with voice acted powerups and incredible changing of weapons. Same with R-Type, air zonk, dragon spirit, Life force and lords of thunder.

If someone has pleas let me know.

The console versions won't come out until September, but I'll be there. I want this.

If I still had a Megadrive, I'd buy the shit out of the cart, though LRG can fuck off.

Well Thunderforce would be more than welcome right now, but I doubt that'll happen anytime soon....That franchise is easily up there with R-Type, Zoink etc...

Few things enrage me more than the dilemma I'm in: I really want the Genesis version, but I absolutely hate Limited Run Games... It drives me nuts!

And to think that this game started with Yuzu Koshiro messing around with SGDK, the community-made Genesis development kit, just out of curiosity.

Holy shit did you guys see the animation on that take-off sequence? I didn't even make it 2 minutes in before I had to leave a comment.

Damn, so is there no rom for this yet then? I would absolutely buy a rom version if I could. I want to play this on my CRT so badly, and I don't want to wait for the physical cart release. (Nor do I want to support Limited Run)

Edit: Oh sick, actually there's a way to decrypt the rom from the steam release. I'm definitely gonna play this on my CRT tomorrow.

Can confirm it works perfectly on Mega SG, amazing to be hold on DAC and 1084S CRT. Pick up the steam release and support the actual developers. If you care about a physical cart.. Worth every penny. I'm conflcited about Limited run games, I would really love to get a physical package for this one. Such an amazing game and it's 2025, who would have thought.

Some of the tricks and effects, pure genius for coding.

Holy shit this game is incredible. I really want the cart, but god do I hate Limited Run.
