The Schmup of the year has landed!- Earthion!

Incredible game. Thanks @ultrazilla for gifting me a copy on Steam! Instantly takes me back to the Genesis and SNES era. Games like Gaiares (ガイアレス, Gaiaresu), UN Squadron, R-Type, Thunderforce, Darius. Man those were good times. The game bleeds detail with outstanding animation. It has responsive controls and great music as well. Music is classic arcade-y style. Great to see (and hear) Koshiro-san at it again making games. I only wish some of the bosses were a bit more..complex. More detail; smoother animations, more moving appendages, multi-layered. Some of the voice audio is pretty rough (the warning! sound) but I get the hommage to the retro era soundboards. The parallax scrolling is amazing. Bring on a sequel let's fking go it's 2025 gotta stay alive!

Had it targeted being a Sega CD like release, it may have been possible to add more complexity, (some mode 7 like effects..) on top of the fact that the game could also have had red-book audio, and not be constrained by the Genesis sound-chip...hopefully they may make a sequel, or a spin off which would add what you've described...

Schump good or bad?

Looks like R-type, I do like the shield mechanic.
It's incredible. I've only gotten to stage 5 so far before I had to leave for a business trip, but everything has been completely top tier so far. The level design, the game mechanics, the soundtrack, the visuals…

Unbelievable to witness on a Genesis and CRT. I'm pretty bummed that I won't get to play it until I get home in two weeks. (I technically have it on my Analogue Pocket, but I feel like this game deserves a CRT playthrough first.)
