Bane? Get them on board, I'll call it in.
The best thing about modern Simpsons? Reading the articles over at Dead Homer Society explaining how everything about them doesn't work.
Like pointing out how characters appear out of nowhere or disappear in the middle of a scene. That happens so often now.

Anyone know the name of that episode where Lisa takes anti-depressants and ends up high? Was that a good episode or did it just have that one good gag?

Homer: "So son, what did you do today?"
Bart: "Well we took all the mail out of the mailbox and threw it down the sewer."
Homer: "I know you meant well, boy, but that wasn't the right thing to do!"
Bart: "What are you talking about? You're the one who double-dared us!"
this quote is from the episode where homer is a relationship teacher/advisor.

That was Season 20's The Good, the Sad and the Drugly.
I'm not sure I would even call that a good gag... at least on a writing basis. It was directed well - I'll give Rob Oliver props for that.

The episode was fine but derivative and forgettable. Bart's had plenty of girlfriends and Lisa's been depressed countless times. This was well-worn territory.

Anne Hathaway's other guest star role in Once Upon a Time in Springfield the next season was far better. She won an Emmy for that one.

I remember when this thread was good.
We have a current season OT for a reason. It's to relegate all of the modern Simpsons discussion to a single thread.

It is season
11
but I laughed too much not to post it.

Just realized in S6E19 in the future:

Hugh: We're both utterly humorless about our vegetarianism.
Lisa: Yes, eating meat is wrong. Very wrong.

Then in S7E5 Lisa becomes a vegetarian.

Well played writers.

Oh no, The Simpsons spoof popular movies. That would never happen in the olden days.

Simpsons Now @simpsons_now · Dec 2
Homer dies and is replaced with a clone. Not a Treehouse Of Horror episode. Amy Poehler guest stars.

WTF.
Episode is set 30 years in the future.

The people who choose the episodes for marathons on FXX make some weird decisions. They're doing a Christmas marathon today, but aren't showing Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire. I guess they want to show as much zombie Simpsons as they can.

Give us the lowdown.

Is it me, or is everyone's voices in the new episode completely off?
Flanders sounds way too deep, as does Marge.

26 seasons have caught up hard to everyone.

26 seasons have caught up hard to everyone.
Julie Kavner (64) and Harry Shearer (two weeks shy of 71) have the greatest issues with voice consistency given their respective ages.
Nancy Cartwright (57) has had vocal issues crop up as well - especially with Bart (not so much with her other characters).
Give us the lowdown.
Here you go...
Also, preceding this episode on FXX will be an all-Christmas themed Simpsons marathon...

4:00pm Marge Be Not Proud
4:30pm Miracle on Evergreen Terrace
5:00pm Skinner's Sense of Snow
5:30pm She of Little Faith
6:00pm 'Tis the Fifteenth Season
6:30pm Simpsons Christmas Stories
7:00pm The Fight Before Christmas
7:30pm Holidays of Future Passed

Yeah, that is disappointing.

Also, am I the one guy who doesn't like Miracle?
I consider it to be overrated.
I actually like the Season 23 (and now 26) Christmas episodes better.
Even Season 15's Christmas ep gives it a good run.

The Jeopardy gag is good at least.

Any other blatant omissions? I don't have cable but want to do my own Christmas marathon. So using their list, plus Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire, anything else?

And yes, I did already watch the new one from last night.
