Thank you. This video took way, way, way too long to edit and mix in post-production. Doing a new series always takes awhile because you gotta make the whole template from scratch.

(Also, I kept playing too much Mario Kart and Smash in my free time, which also delayed things.) :p
Yeah. Syrup is better than jelly.

Keep them coming. It was really entertaining. I never thought about the similarities between the two but now notice them. Two similar episodes with really different seasonal feels.

Maybe you could review an early episode where they introduce something, then one of the later episodes where they completely ruin it. Like when Homer divorced Marge to get remarried, then later they shoehorn that the reverend just so happened to be unlicensed at the time.

Which episode does this image come from? I can't remember for the life of me.

One of the later ones I think. Season 9? I remember it's from them talking about how Mr. Burns is only alive because all of his illnesses are cramming out each other.

That's an interesting idea. I try not to bag on the later seasons ruining stuff too much (because we already have Dead Homers Society for that) but it would be an interesting compare/contrast.

I was kinda bummed out when I heard that they got Milhouse's parents back together, just because it seemed so status-quo'y. I guess they have to do something after all these years with the characters, but the writers have always seemed kind of obsessed with keeping everything exactly how it always was.

Another episode I was thinking of too. I don't understand why they had to do that. They separated because they couldn't stand each other, why would they suddenly change their mind and think they needed to be together again.

The worst offender is probably Ms. Glick. She died in "Replaceable You", yet she keeps being used in crowd shots.

They actually had an episode prior to their remarriage that stated that they had a "trial unseperation". Bart and Milhouse tried to no avail to break them up, unintentionally turning it into a Homer/Marge marriage crisis episode. But it wasn't like they just suddenly got back together on a whim.

Took some pics of some old trading cards I found in a box the other day. I'm sure there's more back at my mom's house.

There was also a puzzle in the back that would form this:

I'm sure there are better images of them out there, but I wanted to share mine. Got some good memories of them =D

that was the company psychiatrist right, on the lower right
It's Doctor Marvin Monroe. They went to see him in the first season for family problems. (They got in a fight over the TV and broke it. So they went to see him and after proving to be un-manageable, Monroe gave them double their money back and they used it to get a new TV.) The hospital was renamed for him after a few seasons implying that he was dead. Then they had him reappear and say he was "very sick". I don't think he appeared again.

Let's go to the Simpsons Wiki, shall we??

Yep. He was around a lot up until season 7 when Shearer decided the voice was too much and Groening decided he didn't like the sound anymore so they retired him by implying he was dead. He appeared once more to buy Marge's book in season 14 ("I've been very sick") then never appeared again. (Except in a THOH episode once)

I am really afraid of touching a season 1 ep outside of the first ep.

Interesting, any season 2-onwards ep where he appears voiced? I wanna hear how he sounded.

EDIT: Ah time to check Stark Raving Dad. Oh god that voice does sound hard to do.

Don't. It is a bit different compared to the other seasons but it is thirteen great episodes.

doesn't season 1 have some odd, distracting animation quirks

Yes. On the DVD commentary (I think, or maybe it was an article about it) for this episode Some Enchanted Evening, they mentioned that the fill-in animation they got back from their Korean studio was absolutely not what they wanted, and almost sunk the whole series. The had to change their processes quickly and even reschedule the air date so this bad-looking episode didn't air as one of the first few.

Edit: The wikipedia page has the a more detailed explanation here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Some_Enchanted_Evening_(The_Simpsons)

Edit 2: cut scenes from before the animation was fixed:

I never knew the back story behind that episode. Good shit. Very interesting when you compare this information to this old highlight reel from Gabor Csupo:

At about 1:30 in they take credit making The Simpsons funny.
