I've oft thought about this. Been to a few comic shops and always wondered how they stay in business. There's just like tons of models/action figures, random comics, and tacky super hero shirts. Like how many of those things sell in a week? Who goes in to buy some Mysterio model that's been on the shelf for who knows how long?
But I don't know jack shit about running a business so there's that.
And yeah, Magic must make a killing.
From what I've been told by my friends who know some comic book shop owners, the owner has to be well off already.

people say Simpsons got its stride in Season 2 but personally it still has some of Season 1's quirks. It's Season 3 that felt like where the classic Simpsons started.
Also holy shit some of the endings felt rushed in 2, like War of the Simpsons.

The first moment in Simpsons' early episodes to really set the tone for the rest of the series (imo) is at the end of Blood Feud, when Marge is trying to figure out the moral of the episode and Homer suggests maybe it doesn't have a moral, "it's just a bunch of stuff that happened." Seasons 1 and (to a lesser degree) 2 were closer to family sitcoms of the time that would always teach a lesson by the end of the episode, and that was them throwing that convention out the window.
