That's an improvement from MoneyBART in Season 22 where he thought his parents were siblings. Good to know they clarified things.
Shelbyville is weird.
First major portrayal showed them as in-bred rednecks cause of the whole "cousin marriage" thing
But then a later episode they were all ultra-rich people that believed Springfield to be in-bred rednecks.

It was confirmed this last season that they are related, but it had been speculated for ages.
It fits for Springfield to think the others are rednecks while Shelbyville thinks it is the other way around. The towns are almost identical so is their opinion of each other.
