Took me 3-4 tries. The button push window is pretty lenient, but it's more about rhythm.Mesijs said:Still have to continue with that damned end boss of Sly 1 where you have to put buttons to avoid and if you miss one you die... I think the buttons on screen don't resonate well with when you have to push the actual buttons.
You mean the compression distortion? No.Dr. Kitty Muffins said:Did they ever patch the sound issues?
Annnnd that's where my save file is still waiting. Someone on here gave me a good tip for beating it but I still haven't put the game back in my system. I was so annoyed by the 3rd or 4th try that I just didn't feel like trying anymore.HixxSAFC said:Pacing was excellent, the only problem I had was no checkpoints on the bosses... especially that certain stupid FUCKING CROCODILE BOSS AAAAAAAHFFF<DSS<.
I liked Sly 2 the best as well. The Canada level is awesome.Obsessed said:I'm in the minority here, but I found Sly 2 to be the best one in the series. Sly 1 boss fights were just awful, and Sly 3 was more like a mini game collection.
I also prefer Sly 2's Carmelita Fox.

Agreed that Sly 3 was the weakest.
GeoramA said:You can just button mash the croc boss. It's really easy.
I agree, after thinking back on the all three Sly's that I played last year, the Canada level is the one that sticks out the most. I loved everything about it.GeoramA said:The Canada level is awesome.
Wow, I didn't know one could get it for that cheap. Have fun.Fernando Rocker said:I just picked the game at Target... $14.99
SykoTech said:Pretty much exactly how I feel. Sly 1 was probably the better game, but I preferred the heist setup structure in 2 more just a little more. If Sly 4 has both straight forward platforming stages and open-ended hub levels (and mostly Sly gameplay), it would be perfect.
Enjoy!Fernando Rocker said:I just picked the game at Target... $14.99
This man right here, gets it.The Lamp said:I loooooooooved Sly 2's structure. The individually tailored platforming levels were amazing in Sly 1 and I missed them, but I feel like Sly 2's open worlds were carefully designed and each mission was unique and interesting and fun to do--something I hadn't seen done really since the GTAs for PS2. Very impressive, in my opinion. The whole heist feeling was stupendous.

Desmond said:I just got the Platinum in Sly 1 and 2 but i'm not sure if i'll play 3 now. Never played it before but based on people's impressions it's bad? (was a lurker until today )
Thanks for the really quick reply. I enjoyed the latter stages of Sly 2 a lot (Canada especially) so i'll give it a go after I finish LA Noire.revolverjgw said:If you liked Sly 2 enough to platinum it, there's no reason you won't like Sly 3. They're practically the same.

SuperSonic1305 said:After going back to finish off the Sly 1 master thief runs and getting the platinum, I started Sly 2 and played it continuously to the end. Just platinumed it as well. Will probably wait until Sly 4 is months from release before going through 3.
Overall, I have to say I prefer Sly 2 to Sly 1 but just barely. They are different in so many ways but both have strengths and weaknesses. A combination of both would be perfect.
Sly 1 had great platforming. Much better than Sly 2. However, the overall mission structure of 2 is so vastly superior that by itself I have to give the game an edge over the first one. Sly 1 didn't really make you feel like a thief. It was just a straight platformer where you run to the end of a level to get keys until you have enough to fight the boss. Sly 2 made you feel like a thief with all the heists. Frankly, it is what I was expecting from Sly 1 when I started playing. There is a build up in each chapter leading up to a great final heist mission. I love doing missions to prepare for the payoff.
I can definitely see how some people dislike the game because you have to play as Bentley and Murray and I agree that they sometimes drag down the game but I enjoyed the variety of missions and play styles that they brought.
I have to say though that the bosses and minigames from Sly 2 are terrible compared to the first games'. I loved the minigames from Sly 1. They were a great change of pace and almost all of them were fun. Sly 2's mini games are really bad. Honestly, the only ones I thought were somewhat fun were the hacking minigames and RC chopper minigame in Episode 6. The turret shooting was just godawful and I groaned whenever I had to use it.
The bosses were also much better in Sly 1 with the exception of maybe Panda King, I preferred all of the Sly 1 bosses to their Sly 2 counterparts. Jean Bison was actually a cool boss fight.
If they took Sly 2's mission structure and combined it with Sly 1's platforming levels, minigames, and bosses, it would be the perfect game but since the missions are such a huge part of the game i'd have to say that Sly 2 was better.
I got the platinum trophy for 1 just playing normally. I don't care about trophies at all and put in no extra effort to get it. It just happened naturally. I think it's my first and only platinum trophy so far.Cornbread78 said:how long/hard is it to platinum these games? I bought it around Xmas, but haven't opended them yet. Is it easier with the MOVE?
But Sly 2 is just a longer game... so you know.Desmond said:Sly 1 took 7.5 hours to Platinum for, while I think Sly2 took about 16!
Oh I've been meaning to ask, did anyone else get freezing in Sly 2 where everything would go quiet, with a looping image?

That happened to me with sly in the final battle in Sly 1 , though he fell into lava and died, still annoying though.Rated-Rsuperstar said:I never encountered that but I did have Bentley fall through the world and I had to boot back to the xmb.

I don't know about Sly 2 and 3 though. I haven't finished 2, and haven't started 3 yet. But the annoying rate at which the trophy pop up appears makes me think 2 is just as easy as 1.
The Move support is only for mini-games... and not the ones in the actual games. It's a separate mode in the starting menu.
If you are ever going to want to play the games ever again, you should get the Sly Collection.Tetraeon said:Bit of a dilemma. I own and loved the hell out of all 3 Sly games for the PS2. Beat each one thoroughly. Should I still splurge and pick this collection up just for the 16:9, trophies, and remastered HD graphics - even without the Sly 1 Master Thief commentary unlocks?
KennyLinder said:Just moved my PS3 from my Sony TV to my living room which is a 50" Panny G20. I noticed the menus and cutscenes on Sly 2 aren't going to the sides of the screen (G20 set to overscan OFF), did anyone else notice this? It's a bit odd. More annoyingly, I discovered my Sony LCD has two overscan options, one for full hd signals and one for anything else. Looks like I only set the 1080 one, oops.
That was my first impression of the second game too, but then the hub worlds start getting way too obtuse and hard to freely explore, and the objectives start being a drag...Amory Blaine said:Really having fun playing through this collection. I had only played the first game last gen, and I flew through it in the last couple days and got the platinum. Nice little game, but too easy and WAY too short (I was surprised getting the platinum trophy didn't require beating all the time trials, which I never would've bothered doing).
Sly 2 seems like a much better game already, and I'm only on the first mission. I like the objective based stuff, and the hub worlds are way more fun to explore. Combat is way better too without the one hit kills, and I like that they implemented a health meter.

Well, hopefully you won't feel the same way. I took a break from the Collection after getting the second Platinum and haven't played Sly 3 yet. Hopefully it gets better.
