The Song above you... Rate it!!!

Pretty good, somehow I see a very strong country influence in it. The singing is specially great.

Now for something more fun. I always loved this song.

Machines of Loving Grace - Perfect Tan

Damn good bass on this, I really like it. For some reason this particular song reminds me of Duran Duran, but a bit faster and harder. 9/10

Lets continue with the fun and add in a good dose of straight-up weird, you have been warned :) Please note that some of the lyrics are NSFW.

Rings a bell but can't put my finger on it. Not bad. 7/10.

Here is my contribution

Nice enough, but felt like it could've been two minutes long for all the melody it had to give. It just kind of looped round again and again. It basically sounded like a practice/jam session.

Also, why are people posting tracks that are so long? Have some restraint people!

The Roots - Guns Are Drawn

Funky hip- hop with awesome vocals.

Why did you post like a minute after I did? At least listen to it!

Meh, sounded like a sedated Evanesance. And Evenesance are chessy as hell. Sorry man, I really didn't like it, way too corny for me.

Peej goes jungle, I love this track!

Well the idea is, you listen to the track, and then rate it. Not rate it then listen to it!

And yeah, Paramore are also really cheesy, but they at least have a bit of bite. That Nitewolf or whatever was just dull.

Rate the Peej song, you suck at this thread. You are messing up the rotation.

7/10 Nice drums. I was put off by her voice in the beginning, but it got better.

Yeah, I really liked it. I saw Hot Chip, and based on my limited experience with the singles, was expecting electro or something, which is cool. But this is a really nice tune, I like. That chorus will be in my head all day now though!

Winehouse - Stronger Than Me

She was so so fucking good man. She made jazz approachable. I think this track is just amazing.

"I said "you don't know what love is, get a grip,
It sounds as if you're reading from, some other tired script",

I love that line.

Daft Punk - Revolution 909

It's repetitive as holy hell, even by DP standards, but it's just so danceable. It's really evocative of a live DJ set too, basically being a 5 second loop that is twiddled and tweaked into submission. I just picture a sea of jumping hands framing a midnight impromptu DJ set.

I think it's my favourite track of theirs.

Really gorgeous track. I love the mystery of incomprehensible vocals. It always reminds me of that line in The Shawshank Redemption where Red is describing his feelings when Andy played the classical record over the tannoy:

"To this day, I have no idea what those two Italian ladies were singing about. The truth is, I don't want to know, somethings are better left unsaid. I'd like to think they were singing about something so beautiful, it can't be expressed in words."

So yeah, lovely tune, I really enjoyed it, 9/10

Final post for a while, I'll stop hogging the thread!

I just recently got into Laura Marling, she's incredibly talented. Really good lyrics, strong unique voice and wonderful song writing.

The drumming and guitar work is fairly impressive, but I just don't understand the genre, why pick such a whiny screamo singer to lead what could be a badass band. 4/10

I'd much rather listen to something like this:

Pretty rad, I agree with the comment about sounding a bit like Don Cab, but the singer has a Doug Marsch Built-to-Spill flair about him. Nice. 8/10

Very very good, need to get more into Cloud Nothings but I liked everything I heard from them. The video is ok too.

As much as the MegaMan fan in me wants to love this song, I'm really not liking the vocals or the instrumentation, I'm probably going to listen to more tracks though before claiming that I don't like the band. Maybe they'll grow on me.

Arjen Anthony Lucassen - Parental Procreation Permit
I quite liked the eastern flavour, but it really isn't my thing. It's a bit "epic" for me, I like my music a bit more grounded. His voice was fairly decent though.

Yep, more Black Keys:

Not reviewing the track (I'm kind of in a rush, in the middle of something) but I'd recommend checking out the rest of the songs on the album as there's only really two "epic" style tracks, that and the title track.

7/10 - Excellent feel with an infectious guitar track but the vocal melody doesn't go anywhere interesting, for me anyway. I like though.

The production is interesting, especially the tuned muffled fart effect, but he song doesn't really have an arc or much in the way of dynamics. It's OK easy listening though, I'll take it over most things in its genre on the radio.

Los Dicker Tanz by Grosstadtgeflüster

I thought that was cooler than a polar bears toenails, I absolutely loved it! Definitely one of the best tracks I've heard in this thread. I was nodding my head within 10 seconds, then the airy poppy female vocal came in, juxtaposed nicely with the sparse male rapping. The melody was infectious, the beat was funky, I didn't understand a word of it, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Thank you my good man!

10/10 (I'm going to listen to it again now!)

UNKLE feat. Ian Brown - Reign

I don't usually like to post long tunes, I try to keep it around 3 mins, but this is worth the time IMO.

Edit: sorry neoism, I skipped you.

8/10, really nice melody.

Edit 2: Seriously, people should listen to Los Dicker Tanz, it's wicked! I've just listened to it like 5 times in the last hour.
