The Song above you... Rate it!!!

I thought that was cooler than a polar bears toenails, I absolutely loved it! Definitely one of the best tracks I've heard in this thread. I was nodding my head within 10 seconds, then the airy poppy female vocal came in, juxtaposed nicely with the sparse male rapping. The melody was infectious, the beat was funky, I didn't understand a word of it, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Thank you my good man!

dicker literally means thick man. dicker in the german is pretty much used as dude or buddy.
so "los dicker tanz" means " come on buddy, let's dance". however if you speak dicker tanz like the female voice in the track the two words dicker tanz sounds like dekadenz (decadence). so the song is pretty much a parody like gangnam style i think.

10/10 (I'm going to listen to it again now!)

UNKLE feat. Ian Brown - Reign

I don't usually like to post long tunes, I try to keep it around 3 mins, but this is worth the time IMO.

Edit: sorry neoism, I skipped you.

8/10, really nice melody.

Edit 2: Seriously, people should listen to Los Dicker Tanz, it's wicked! I've just listened to it like 5 times in the last hour.

Great to drive to, as well as relax to. Just good ass trip hop/downtempo. 9/10

Well this is quite different. It's like someone made a hip hop version of Pulp Fiction? 7/10

Gov't Mule - Life Before Insanity

Warren Haynes is a beast on slide guitar.

Very nice voice, good guitar work. 8/10.

Def Leppard - Rocket

The best live version of this song, and one of my favourite live performances of all time. The dueling guitars, the driving beat, the way the bass comes in... though I must say that the Led Zeppelin lyrics they added to it are really ridiculous.

Nice. I like Def Leppard, but that got a laugh outta me, lol.
What's got 9 arms and sucks?

Def Leppard.

Sorry man, I really don't like those guys.

But it was a rousing performance, so it gets:

4/10 for me.

Screw it, time to shamelessly drop some credibility. What can I say, it's damn fine pop music IMO.

EMO! EMO! EMO! Love it.
Nope, nope, nope, sorry. I can still listen to the entire track but nothing in it even hooks me. 3/10.

I enjoyed it, nice folk song. I hate to say Dylanesque, but yeah, very reminiscent of him, especially with the harmonica.

Nice record:

7/10

Yeah, I've been keeping the cheese at bay in general, but just thought I'd throw a guilty pleasure out there, mix it up. It is the one band that I'd never stick on when pals are around, they are kind of lame! But yeah, I really dig them, despite that.

*shrugs*

Bill Withers - Who Is He (And What Is He To You)?

I first heard this on Jackie Brown, and just fell in love with it. Really smooth groove, and great lyrics.

Damn that bass is sooooo smooth. I could listen to this over and over again. 10/10.

Let's slow it down some more:

Really nice version, slow and chilled. I always preferred War's Rendition though, the horns are amazing:

(I just quoted to segregate my actual post)

Anyway, 8/10, just because I have my heart set on War's version.

Well I could go down this route all day! I mean damn, what the hell do you pick?

Can't beat a bit of Otis:

Oh man, it just gets me every time, just an incredible track.

I dig some Otis, Love Man is some good stuff! Not particularly fond of that one though ... 6/10

Since we're posting golden oldies:
Elvis Presley - Never Been To Spain [Live]

Switch Back 9

a lot of my threads involve me fucking up somehow. Perhaps I'm a moron?

As you got skipped:

I love me a bit of George. He's the best Beatle. That's right.

....but, I actually really enjoyed it! Absolutely off the wall bonkers, but good stuff. With different vocals, it could be amazing, but I get the wacky vibe they were going for. The video makes it.

Yeah, Mastodon are pretty cool. Not one of my favourite tracks, it's just a little aimless. But yeah, fine musicianship, but they have stuff that's more up my alley.

7/10

Edit:man, I'm too slow!

Oh love me some Skip James, and pretty much all early Blues artists. This is where all modern music starts from. 10/10

"Blues is the roots, all other music are the fruits"

"Sleepy" John Estes - Drop Down Mama
Much more my thing, really cool.

The Cardigans - Do You Believe

They have a reputation of being incredibly saccharine and twee, what with Lovefool being so huge, but Gran Turismo is a damn fine record. And it really shows their darker side. Nina has such a sweet voice, that the dark subject matter is counter balanced. I think they are a great band, though I haven't checked out their stuff in a while.

Everything about her is so amazing. ._. Very good song, too. Their darker stuff is always great because of the contrasts between the Nina's voice and the instrumentation.

Spoon - The Beast and Dragon, Adored
Britt's an enthralling lyricist. The opening bit before the drums kick - always makes me think of an gloomy day on bustling street corner with a subway entrance, which is oddly specific.

Spot on with the street corner reference. I like how they spice in the distorted guitar. Pretty damn good! 8/10.

Okay, another from my childhood memories, one of the most underrated R&B voices ever:

Peabo Bryson - Let the Feeling Flow

Really cool, I was nodding along right from the start. I get the feeling James Murphy is a fan, I got a strong LCD Soundsystem vibe.

I really liked it:

The Liars - Mr Your On Fire Mr

Very oddball band, but they have some funky basslines and chunky riffs. "They Threw Us All In A Trench And Stuck A Monument On Top" is a great album. It has one of my favourite track names ever too, "They Were Wrong, So We Drowned".

I recognised it instantly from Trigger Happy TV. It's pretty nice, but maybe a little sombre for my tastes. Wonderful voices though.

Arctic Monkeys - Evil Twin

More new stuff from them and James Ford. The new album is sounding awesome based on this and R U Mine.

I love the video as well, so grimy and slutty.
