I like Bloc Party, Silent Alarm is a cool album. Kele's voice is an acquired taste, but the musicianship is undeniable, particularly Matt Tong on drums. Great opening track too.

9/10

On a similar tip, I'm liking Foals new stuff. Inhaler is fantastic.

http://www.last.fm/music/Foals/_/Inhaler

Edit: just listened to it again for like the 100th time, those drums get me every time! Air drumming like a loon.

I enjoyed that, though not something I'd usually listen to. 7/10.

Really not sure how to feel about this one; the style initially suggests it should be relaxing and ambient, but there's a dark undertone that permeates throughout the song [though maybe that was the video's influence]. It's not something I'd usually listen to, but it was certainly interesting.

When the opening notes of the song came on, I thought yeah, this is gonna be a good one. And then the singer started... that brought me down a little. I don't think his voice suits that song at all. It's not that he has a bad voice, but it was a little too washed out. Someone with a cleaner tone would have done this song wonders. So, points off for that. 5/10.

ABBA - I Am The City

Oh no, back to ABBA again! Well, I'm sorry next poster, but you're stuck with it! A very lyrically dense song and, I imagine, one very difficult to sing.

It has a really old-school, disco-ish feel. I'm definitely not into euro-pop, though. Not bad - 7/10.

Global Warming by Gojira.

edit: I'd rate the song below me 10/10. Groovy stoner rock ftw.

8/10
I dig Witchcraft, that's not one of my most liked songs but, it's a good one :p

Little more doom flavor:

Orchid - Capricorn

i wasn't a fan of this at all, it didn't ever grab me and it just seemed to drag on. the video was rather funny, though i'm not sure if that was their intent. 3/10
edit:
6/10 I did not like the lyrics, but the music was okay.

Hotstepper

yeah, this is way too repetitive for me. it has a nice catch, but that's not enough for me to listen to it again. 2/10.
terminal 11 - bullets over brainwaves

I have no idea what constitutes good electro-pop but this is alright by me 7/10

Going with a classic on my second round:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxgvkzFVnNQ

8.8/10, I mean Velvet Underground is great, the vocals in the song are captivating. Song is a bit too repetitive for my taste but then again that might be the point, but it lost points for me in that regards.

edit:sorry reviewed wrong song. I'd give Martina Topley Bird - Phoenix a 7.5/10, I like the voice and the overall vibe the song gives off, it's very catchy. It's not something I'd listen to regularly, but I can appreciate the atmosphere it creates.

Here's a song I've been listening to lately
Mind Mischief - Tame Impala

Great song, Love Tame Impala, really like the sound they create, and the voice of the vocalist is perfect for their style. Also the video reminds us of our dreams of hot school teachers.

Interesting track. I like some of the stranger chord changes as well as the melodies. Reminds me of some of the riot grrl sounds from the 90's but with...pop and horrorcore slants?

I dig the interestingness and cohesiveness of it all, even though it's not my cup of tea. 7/10.

Let's go with something dark.

Vatican Shadow (AKA Prurient) - The Hamburg Cell Was Born In Chechnya

I don't listen to a lot of electronic stuff, but when I do it's usually upbeat...so I'm not really a fan. It sounds like someone I'd hear in a movie. 4/10 , sorry :x

One of my favorite songs of all times 10/10

Freestylers - Push Up

Pro: Hits hard, is clear, mixed and mastered very well, and most importantly it's very catchy.

Con: Lead vocalist is not my style. A little too cheesy.

7/10

What's this heavenly mix of Daft Punk and Justin Timberlake? So delicious.

9.5/10

Cielo Liquido - Fey

The instrumental is actually somewhat catchy, but the song as a whole is pretty shitty in my opinion. Then again I prefer my songs in English.

2/10

Check out/Rate: Miike Snow - Animal

I dig it.

Wowee, this girl is awesome. Somehow I've never realized she's had a solo career though I've owned Maxinquaye for years. Thank you so much for posting this; I think I've found my random musical discovery for the night.

(Disregard this post, next poster)

Cool man, that's what it's all about. There've been a few songs posted that have me looking up albums to buy. She is indeed, awesome :D

Immediately started bobbing my head, love when music makes me do it without thinking. Also digging the sort of MGMT vibes. I feel like I should be walking down the street all sassy like now.

9/10 Lots of fun!

I think I've listened to this song on loop a hundred times:
The xx - Crystalised

Not my cup of tea but it lets himself listen.
7.9/10

Never heard of this band before this post. This band is right up my alley. Great vocalist with a very well mixed indie pop vibe + a catchy tune.

10/10. recommend other Gaffers to rate this one.

Great beat, the lyrics are Black Eye Peas levels of terrible.

8/10

Love Foolosophy- Jamiroquai

Not really into the caribbean-rock sound. Don't care for the lead vocals either. That said, great instrumentation and sound dynamics. Catchy melody. 6/10

Cassius - The Sound of Violence

Old, but great.

Solid beat that doesn't overstay it's welcome and changes it up a bit towards the end, I was hoping for more variation but preferable to overdoing it. Also was kind of sad that the guitar didn't really open up around the 2 minute mark when everything else took a back seat but maybe that's youtube quality doing this song a disservice. Quality song all around.

a lot of my threads involve me fucking up somehow. Perhaps I'm a moron?
Videogame sound-track eh? Really reminds me of old nintendo games. Not a huge fan of this kind of music but it did put a smile on my face....6/10

On the note of "happy" music, IMO this is the happiest song ever recorded. Always puts a smile on my face.

Haha! Short and very strange, I like that. Sounds like Kirby being drunk in an irish bar!
9/10

So here's something not that happy but beautiful, in my opinion. I'm on a Bowie trip right now anyway, so why not. ;D
