We've all become increasingly stressed and weary this year in ways even I'm not accustomed to by now, and discussions on heated news, political issues, and social issues on the off-topic side of the site have become areas no one has wanted to moderate in the open for fear of backlash or just general exposure to the inevitable toxicity. I've gone in there myself to take the heat, since it's very much my responsibility to do so before anyone else's, but there's been little headway, mostly just more anger and resentment and a lot of bans. I don't think this necessarily reflects on our community; more so the tone of the entire internet this year with regards to heated issues.
I'd take issue with this and say that there was both a "good" amount of mod'ing in some threads (PoliGAF was always a welcoming place for good faith arguments on both sides), and not enough enough mod'ing for the general OT politics threads (like, every Bernie or Hillary thread descended into name-calling relitigating of the Primary by the same people).
To place any "blame" on the politics of the hour, or "that's the way the internet is" is sticking your head in the sand. GamerGate was a breeding ground for Nazis partly because there wasn't enough "mod'ing" elsewhere on the internet, and partly because the partisan nature of console wars and DF threads on places
like GAF encourages a "take no prisoners, fuck the otherside's opinion" mentality. Gaming and nerd/geek culture is a swamp of gate-keeping, ignorance, memes, "defensiveness as masculinity" and a whole lot more.
Gaming side was great in a lot of ways - so much knowledge, and so many people helping others out. The Performance threads alone were amazing, and then there's emulator threads, LTTP/RTTP. But to remove OT as though people talking about anything from Hillary Clinton to misogyny in The Big Bang Theory were to blame... It simply punts the issue down the road.
With regards to your "issues" - this accusation, as well as your bragging of your European trip: The manly thing (as well as the
gentlemanly thing) would be to transfer ownership of the site, either to a mod who is still respected, or to someone entirely outside of the GAF circle, who is also respected. That you haven't done this shows that you yourself are happy to flout your own rules and moral code. Your actions - whether you're innocent or guilty - have torn asunder a place which was for many a haven, a genuine Safe Space, a mental refuge, for people from across the world.
Edit to add:
Hi.
All allegations of this nature are serious, of course. I first got word of it on Wednesday when a screenshot of a Facebook post was handed to Voat. I immediately talked with my mod team about the contents of the screenshot and clarified that it was baseless and explained some of the details concerning my former associations with her, and tried to ensure any concerns from the team were addressed fully and transparently to everyone's satisfaction. On Thursday I heard that she had deleted the accusation from Facebook, and wasn't entirely sure how to proceed from there or how this would all play out in the public space at that point.
Malka further criticized Leupp for reportedly taking down her Facebook post, after the allegations began circulating, as evidence she was making the story up or exaggerating certain details of the encounter. Leupp told me that's not the case; instead, the post was made private so people would stop screen grabbing it and sharing it around online, as her profile also included other posts detailing other sexual misconduct she'd experienced.

You do not state that she actually made the Facebook post private, and the implication that she deleted the post can lead some to think her claim is false simply because she didn't stand by it.
