Post Caer Bocram:
I love how when the 'big reveal' about Estelle being the princess came out and Karol was flipping out about it, Yuri and Rita (the ones with brains) were just like "Um...yeah, look at her."

Also, Rita is so awesome. And Michelle Ruff is doing an excellent job with her.

Also I plan on playing coop with my gf, is it playable or it'll be more confusing than if I play solo?
Nope, it's really easy. Whenever my brother comes over, he'll just pick up the controller and jump in. The camera compensates for multiple player characters so you can see each other at all times on the screen. If she's never played a Tales game before, it might be best for her to stick through at least the beginning of the game to get a better understanding of the battle system.

This whole Yuri/Flynn dynamic is really almost exactly like the whole Lelouch/Suzaku pairing from Code Geass.:lol
LOL, but Yuri is way less of a dick than Ledouche and is way more of a man all around.

I'm still waiting for my review copy to come in from NamcoBandai :(. Fedex missed me today and left a notice they're trying tomorrow. I hope it's Tales.

Just picked up my copy but I won't be able to start it until tomorrow. Is there anything I should be aware of in the early hours like grinding out levels or items/events that can easily be missed in the first couple hours?

Weird. Amazon never sent me a shipping email, and my status page says that estimated delivery is 9/8, but whatever. Got the SE today.

Why does my SE come with a link to some kind of Tales promotion, and an unlock code?
I go to the indicated website and it seems like the promotion hasn't been decided yet? Nothing's available...

52 so far. Seeing as how gigantic this place is, my final time will probably be 55 hours. Also, I haven't done a single sidequest. Not one.

Wow, I'm only around 25-27 hours and can't even imagine only being halfway. :lol

About how far into the game is
just entering the Krition city?

A little less than halfway.

Just got my LE copy today and damn..already behind most of you, as I won't be able to play till the weekend :(....Hope this Tales game is good or better than Tales of Symphonia. Out of all the Tales games that I played, Symphonia is my No. 1 Tales game so far.

-_-

Damn Himu, I read that before you corrected it :(..I'm sure it won't affect my game playing, besides, I tend to forget game stories quickly.

What determines when enemies get knocked out by the spirit ring?

Sometimes it happens on the first shot, other times I can hit them two or three times before they get dazed.

I can't stop playing this game, but I feel so damn slow. I always take my time in RPGs, and it's especially bad here because playing on hard mode just automatically makes everything take longer. I just completed Secret Mission 11
fun fight, Belius was my closest boss battle of the game so far
with about 35 hours on the clock, and my party around level 30-31.

Also, I can't believe how much of a headache the regular horse-type enemies cause me. The only way I can get through a battle with two of them (without using tons of items) is to use a level 1 OL and get an extremely quick fatal strike on one.

Holy fuck, Estele does not listen to anything I put on the strategy

She keeps using high-TP spells unnecessarily when she's low as hell on TP

I'm tempted to shut everything off but First-Aid and only use Nurse on my command.

That's what I did (although I left Recover on, too). She just doesn't have the TP at level 24 to spam the hell out of Nurse. I think what it is is that when the AI decides to use a healing spell, it will automatically use the most powerful one available.

I'm at 35 or so and she somehow manages to run out of TP even when I use a Save TP strategy (not letting her use below 75% of her TP, which she does anyway) a few fights in to any given dungeon.

lol yes. After having a human player control Estelle and watching our party rip through the game on hard with ease it's fucking painful to go back to AI. I didn't think AI was all that bad when I first played, but having 2 other people ruined it for me... and they rather play N+... SIGH.

People with strategy issues, I'm just curious -- you guys do know how to set the strategies properly, right? Because I was messing it up for a long time. You can't just press the d-pad. You have to go into the menu first (Y during the battle), hold down LB and then choose your strategy with the d-pad. I've never seen my chars go beyond the TP limits I set.

I'm stuck.
In the ruined town that prompts you to type something to open the door, it gives you the clues, "sky", "sphere," and "light" What is the password? It's not like your answer is limited, you have to type it in, so you have to be precise. What is it? I tried world, aer, earth. Nothing works.
Help!

My SE is backordered at Gamestop's website. Hubbagames has it back in stock on Amazon. Should I order through them or hope I can find a copy at GameCrazy next week when I go back to school?

Wow, this has to be the worse most engrish filled localization (puts NISA to shame) I have seen in awhile.

I just ran across this gem during a quest.

"There's no need for a rush.
Talking of things like this, the more you wait, the more you joy."

It would be awesome if NB could release a game without fucking something up at least once.

That setting only affects offensive abilities. If they're set up to use recovery abilities at all, they'll use them until they're out of TP. I actually have Estelle set to Do Not Use for my boss battle strategies, and she still spams First Aid.

Yes. I think some of the strategies conflict.

Like, if I tell Estelle to watch for healing, it supercedes her TP limits.

Normally in Tales of games its "Don't use more than 25% TP EXCEPT for healing". So I wouldn't be surprised if Vesperia is the same. You might have to put her on "No TP" to get her to stop.

No, was there when the game was out.

I'm pretty much at endgame now and I didn't realize how many sidequests I missed. I just learned Tiger Blade at level 73. :lol

Also finally hit up the "casino." Made 750,000 in one hand in poker through a string of luck with the doubling up. All their little treasures were mine in 10 minutes. :D

All of the other DLC is up on the US MP, including 10lvls for actual money... I hope people don't buy this garbage. :lol

Question for Mt. Temza

I'm grinding a bit because healing save points are rare and I struggled to get up to the boss, who beat me down anyway. I keep seeing areas blocked off by rocks, should I know how to access them right now? There's clearly some chests behind some.
