Looking forward to Turn 1 lap 1.

24 cars going uphill into a tight blind left hander.

Can I get odds on Grosjean tapping someone?

Great work on the OT Leunam.

Hopefully Alonso can finish above Vettel in the race and close the gap, altough it's hopefull as the Red Bull is much quicker than the Ferrari, but anything can happen. This is Formula 1.

I always enjoy the first race at a new track. Even if it is a Tilke. I imagine the American crowd will be well up for it.

i hope this race goes better than indy f1 2005 lol

The best moment of that race was potential collision of both Ferrari (Schumacher and Barichello on pit-exit) and Minardis (Albers & Freisacher) in field of 6 cars on track.

I remember I was laughing like crazy about Minardis, I couldn't believe their stunt in light of getting actual points in championship and securing a FOTA funding.

Amazing piece of F1 history.

Ah, good times.

It would be cool to see more USA involvement in the sport. Getting a race back is an important first step. Now we just need a billionaire to buy hrt.

Watched the Dubai F1 last week, first F1 race I sat and watched all year and it was really entertaining. I'm definitely going to watch this one too and probably follow next season closer.

The seat is so good. I can see 8 turns by line of sight the hill of turn 1. I am at the apex of t12.

wish I could attach a photo.

Im assuming you mean Abu Dhabi

But it was probably one of best races this season, so I hope your standards aren't set too high lol

Why can't you? Do it! Take a panorama shot. You should be able to upload to imgur with Android or iOS.

I have always wondered why there aren't any US drivers. Lack of US GPs isn't helping but you don't see many US drivers in F1 sister series either.

Lack of funding for driver development in the US. Most kids who drive go-karts and have the talent either wash out or end up going the stock car path since there's very little development money in the open wheel ladder. So basically if you want to be a race car driver in the US you're probably going to go the stock car path for the $$$ unless your family is really rich and can pay a couple million a year so you can drive somewhere.

Red Bull had their driver search that led to Scott Speed but he washed out. He wasn't close to the best driver in that group (Ryan Hunter-Reay was, who won the IndyCar championship this year), but several drivers turned down the contracts that basically sold their souls to Red Bull. They immediately shut that program down after that. IndyCar does have some developmental money but it's pretty limited (basically have to win the championship every year at each level of the ladder system to get it) and it doesn't even guarantee an IndyCar seat at the end

Alexander Rossi is probably the best hope for an American driver but he didn't have a great season in Formula 3.5.

Hunter-Reay or a few of the NASCAR guys (with enough test time) would do pretty well in F1 but F1 teams are never going to hire anyone older than 30.

they wanted a chicane turn13, todt and mosely blocked it since ferrari wanted to give schumacher his first and only win of the season

You can't build a new circuit just because some teams fucked it up.

There were enough alternatives:

- they could drive slower thorugh the chicane
- more pitstops
- they could even use new tyres without disqualification

Ryan is not nearly that good and I think F1 is too specialist an endeavor for a NASCAR driver.

The US just doesn't have any good prospects at the moment. I think the best one we've had recently was Jonathan Summerton and he lacked the financial backing to continue towards F1. Hell, he could barely stay afloat racing in the States.

Verizon is heavy on McLaren!

F1 can really benefit if it can get Americans on board.

Webber hits out at new podium style

DRS to be limited in 2013

While it may just be the driver's language that has come under the spotlight, Webber believes the whole format is undesirable.

"I certainly wasn't impressed in Silverstone with 1000 dignitaries up there. I think the podium should be for the drivers, no one else," Webber said of his experience in Britain.

"A clear shot of celebration of the drivers and what they have achieved. Not having everyone stand in front and having their five minutes. That pissed me off.

"You need real flags. The electronic flags look rubbish. You need real flags waving in the wind.

"Drivers [interviewing] on the podium...? I am 50/50 on that."

Webber turned down 2013 Ferrari approach

"Ferrari approached us first," Webber revealed to CNN. "Things happen for a reason and it feels I'm staying here for the right reason.

"We made the decision just before Silverstone when both teams seemed pretty interested [in my services]. I'm happy with the decision," he added.

"Everyone can see where Helmut’s allegiance lies. He's very, very powerful and that's something that will always be the case. But there are two cars and I have the opportunity to drive one of them."
