Australia not getting it.... ? Brilliant. Did I read somewhere that were getting an AO rating? Not that it would be implemented in time to get this game but at least theres hope for the future.

Its not possible to mess with international live accounts like it used to be in the early days of Xbox live hey? ...

You can set up a US gamertag then buy US MS points from Amazon.

Played an hour last night, awesome game.

Reminds me of Heavy Rain, but with a better story. ;)

Same here, I imagine it's already been written in this thread but it's essentially Heavy Rain (which I didn't like but had a concept I found interesting) with better writing and a better conversation system. I'll wait for the other episodes to judge the story as a whole but the first part was very, very good. Like the characters and the visual style a lot. For the record I also like Walking Dead (the comic), and it was fun to meet some of the main guys in the game.

Isn't there porn uncensored on tv in Australia? At least they have priorities straight compared to the US

Where on earth did you hear that?

Anyway, Australia has adult only ratings for film and television (R 18+) but not games, for which the highest rating is MA (Mature Audiences) 15+. They finally agreed to add and adult only rating for games (finally), but it won't be rolled out until 2013.

You can set up a US gamertag then buy US MS points from Amazon.

*high five*

I haven't played it yet, but I'll play through it with the other half this weekend.

So, in regards to this first episode...

1. Is it possible to find the second battery for the radio? I only found the one inside the store, and I looked everywhere I could think of.

2. Was I the only one that took forever to find that pillow? I honestly spent around 15 minutes going back and forth at the motel trying to figure out what I could possibly be missing. I thought maybe I had to actually get noticed at first, but so glad I finally found the pillow, haha.

Yes, the second battery is there. Just keep walking around the store.

And yeah, it took me a while to find that goddamn pillow. I was moving around the parking lot and peeking my head out for about 15 minutes. It was pretty damn frustrating :lol

Because I didn't press Left? : (

Dang, I don't know how I missed the battery, then. I must have walked around the store three or four times specifically making sure I didn't miss anything.
You can modify the UI options menu. You can activate that it will show interactive spots earlier.

So they probably didn't even bother to submit it for classification because of the expense and the risk of getting RCed? Good, I applaud them. I really want to play the game but I understand that Telltale actually want to make money on their work, so not wanting to risk throwing it away on our outdated ratings laws is perfectly understandable. I just hope they do a disk based release at some point so I can import it.

Edit: they would probably have to pay the submission fee for each episode, and go through the hassle or risking RC each time, the more I think about it the more sense it makes. I really hate my country sometimes.

I had it that way. : (

My problem was because of areas like the truck where pressing right or up did the exact same thing. When I moved back to the wall, I thought that up and left would do the same thing. CURSE MY JUMPING TO CONCLUSIONS!

Did anyone here choose to save Doug? He just wasn't as interesting as Carley.

I've now added The Walking Dead Compendium 1 to my amazon wishlist. What's wrong with me?!
At least, by the time I get it ordered and read, the second compendium will be out.

It's a been a while since I beat it, but

Don't the player statistics indictate that most people saved Carley? I think most people would agree that he wasn't interesting.

Yeah, it was like 7 to 3. Just curious if anyone in this thread was on the 3 side. : P

This game is awesome but also annoying...

I'm at the pharmacy. There's a brick outside the gate that I can easily reach but Lee says he can't reach it. There's a walking cane in the office that would easily reach it but there's no active hotspot for it. :/ I just left to help the guy at the motel. Did I screw up?

You can't get to it until you get back from the motel.

It looks closer than it is. Also what Roto said.

Game is very much worth the time/money (5 bucks), thread is full of positive comments.

Reading the "story" out of context would do you little good, as a big part of the storytelling is interactive. Shaping your character through conversations, making decisions that ripple into future episodes, that sort of thing. If you really don't like adventure games I'd at least try the demo.

If you're a huge fan of the comics, you absolutely need to play this game.

What if you never read the comic, but are a fan of the show?

Then you'll probably still like it, though it's based on the comic and not on the show. There are a couple of characters in the game who are from the comics but aren't in the show so you won't recognize them, but whatever. It's still really good.

It's a side story, so knowing the comics inside-out isn't necessary. :p

Gary, is there any chance you might potentially be showing up somewhere as an extra in the game? I mean, you've got the experience for it, so I think you'd be a shoe-in.

Just beat the first episode yesterday, sooo awesome. I really liked how the game played and the characters too. I laughed when
they show the stats at the end of the game for what others chose. It was like 50-50 for all of em except the choice between Carley and Doug (70% chose carley of course!)
Cant wait til next month!

I don't think my accent is a plus, unless there are some English characters in the game I don't know about yet :)

I have to wonder if most of the people who chose Doug were doing it on their second playthrough like me. :p

You should at least get to reprise your "pajama walker" role!

I was in that 3. =D
I saved him and let the girl die. Just thought I was doing what Lee would do. Honestly though she didn't have the hots for me so she had to go.
Remind me to not be in your group of survivors when things go down!

I keep getting a lot of hitching on the PS3 version. Mostly during the QTE for the "hit the zombie with this thing quick" parts but sometimes after I've selected a dialogue choice like it's saving my choice . I'm wondering if anyone else is getting this problem. I still have the old chunky 2nd run (PS2 emulator taken out) PS3 and getting all these 2-5 second freezes (particularly bad at the motel part) and don't know if the older model is causing it. Thinking about getting it on Steam for a smoother experience. I would have gotten it PC to start with but people were reporting problems even getting the Steam version going.

So I'm having trouble being an asshole in this game. I played mostly compassionate in my real playthrough but since this month long wait is killing me I decided to try being a jerk.

Usually games like this doesn't make it hard to take the "dark" route but man is it tough here.

Also the game is best when you turn off how you affect other characters. Totes.

Bought it and finished it in one sitting last night, fantastic game. I have never bought any of the recent Telltale adventure games, but something about this one is just awesome. Amazing art style, brilliant dialogue and choices that feel like they matter. They give you quite a bit of time to make your decisions but in the moment it really does feel like you're making it in a split second.

I had to laugh at the statistics screen at the end though...

78% of players saved Carley :lol. Why would anyone save the other dude? No bad ass sharpshooting skills, hardly any character development.

Agreed. I was enjoying myself much more when I turned it off.

Well, it would be nice to have someone that understands electronics on your team in the future. You never know when things like the tv remote reprogramming might be useful.

Because at that point, as far as you know, she's the only person in the group who knows Lee is a murderer. She's potentially dangerous to Lee. Doug isn't.

Doug was in bigger trouble though. :( Didn't a zombie just have the reporter by the leg? Beat it off with something!

The game hitches like mad on my PC (Radeon HD 6950 2GB, 8GB RAM, i5 @ 4.4GHz) during cutscenes when the scene transitions or switches camera angles.

Anyone else having these issues and is there a fix? The game and my drivers are all up-to-date.

EDIT: Setting shadow quality to low seems to have fixed it.

Glad to see you found your fix. I had the same problems when I first started and Lee
was climbing the hill up to the house.
I left aliasing switched off too, because I honestly couldn't even tell a difference in-game. Never had any issues after that, so yeah.

Just finished it, really enjoyed it.
I do wish there was a bit more to the gameplay, some satisfying puzzles or something, but other than that it was great.

Man, when the
father punched me in the face and left me there.. I was going "oh fuck how am I going to get out of this one. Totally didn't expect that to be saved like that.
I think that kind of loyalty/betrayal/choose a side as to who will help you only works once though. I hope they don't mine that well."

Larry always knocks you over and Kenny always saves you, no matter what. Kenny's just not as nice about it if you've been a jerk to him. :p

There are certainly little hick ups after selecting certain stuff which I think is just normal for the telltale engine. 2-5 seconds seems extremely long though, mine usually just takes about 0,5-1 second.
