fixed >_>

Ha! So a previous version of that patent was in circulation last year? I gotta up my level of sleuthing to the next level apparently. But what of that RAM config? You haven't heard anything of a split pool, huh?

Edit: Read your last response, btw. How much L2 cache do modern cards have? Would it be worth mentioning in that diagram?

Could someone try doing a mock-up Wii U logo with the "U" being the same color, font, and font size as the "Wii" instead of it being a tacked-on image? I want to see if it looks better.

If Nintendo could do one thing to improve the Wii U name, it's to fix that damn ugly logo. I'd like to see someone attempt this as well.

Damn. That sounds accurate enough to be ripped straight from their script. And the level of reveal seems about right for what I'm expecting - just enough to steal some thunder, and just enough so that the mediafolk have comparison fodder.

Now go back and read in your head what I wrote there in Reggie's voice.

(and a side note: I think RMC might've overestimated how much people dislike his site! haha!)

Well, I'm sure it might be slightly different if he posted in the "Durango Speculation Thread".

Don't set yourself up for disappointment. We should just assume it's Star Fox Adventures 2 just to be safe. Personally, I wouldn't mind it, but I know a lot of people will go ape shit if it turns out to be true.

If it has a good single player campaign and good online multiplayer fun, I say bring it on.

Oh don't worry about me. :) I've been following Nintendo too long for disappointment to ever affect me.

I'm only thinking about what makes better sense for them strategically. StarFox, sorry to say, is simply not a system seller. The appeal of the characters is very limited - especially amongst the demographic that Nintendo is trying to reach out to with the new system. So I'm not ruling it out as a possibility, I just don't currently believe it or understand the logic. That could always change, though.

You guys think BG&E2 has any hope of hitting WiiU?

I mean, Ubi Soft is supporting Nintendo a lot, and they've said they need next-generation hardware to make the game.

If BG&E2 was launching with WiiU, honestly I wouldn't even need a 1st part game.

The most likely thing to do is show off the regular games and, at the end, go "Before you leave… we heard that one of our competitors are showing off a new system that may be slightly faster than the current generation. Well, something's coming from the world of Xbox in 2013, and the best part is, you'll get all the amazing hardcore games you've been used to and the unparalleled experiences of Kinect and Xbox Live. Take a look… *cues lots of target render videos*".

Microsoft is never going to refer to the power of Nintendo's Wii U when nothing official has been released about its specs. Talking about internet rumors about a competitor at a press conference is highly unprofessional.

I feel you. I don't think it would be a title that would target the demographic they're after now. I mean even if it had robust online multiplayer experience, I don't see what they can do to make it appeal to a lot of core gamers.

Personally, I just want to see Retro come up with something new without having to touch an old Nintendo IP.

Yes and I don't see it being a launch title. Ubisoft has a lot of good titles they're probably going to release as Wii U launch games.

I see we have a new subtitle (and saw all the discussion about it on the past couple of pages).

Please tell me we don't have to sing "Row Row Row Your Boat" and see Nichelle Nichols nude.

I shall explain this as I did in the last thread, and I'm pretty sure the thread before that.

Go Nintendo has a history of posting rumours. Lots of rumours. And yes, in almost every case, they mark rumour reports as just that. The problem is the sourcing of the rumours. Rumours can often be sourced back to a single forum post and/or internet gossip.

Though we encourage new threads for new news, including rumour discussion, we do not support the forum getting clogged up with every single rumour posted on every single website, especially those lacking credibility and proper sourcing. It's one thing to make a thread based on a rumour sourced back to multiple gaming websites with known connections to the industry, and the rumour itself being credible and interesting. It's another thing entirely to make a thread because some guy said some shit on some forum and we believe him just 'because'.

Furthermore, Go Nintendo has, in the past, erroneously reported rumours and information, adding inaccurate conjecture to reports that further complicates the matter. We end up with people not only posting threads based on dumb rumours from unreliable nonsense sources, but ones that could have been easily discredited prior to posting. Or, in worst case examples, the report itself misinterprets the rumour, leading to completely inaccurate 'news'.

This shouldn't be taken as an attack against Go Nintendo. RawMeatCowboy posts here, and is welcome to. His website is an excellent source for all things related to Nintendo. But because of clashes between Go Nintendo reports and GAF's expectations of rumour and news validity, the website was banned. We don't allow 'Chartz for slightly similar inaccuracy reasons.

But, unlike 'Chartz, which has a blanket ban for being full of shit, Go Nintendo isn't strictly banned from discussion or sourcing. You can source back to Go Nintendo, even though the URL will be blanked out. You can discuss news and rumours there. That's fine. We simply express caution in doing so, for the above reasons. This is especially true for making threads. If you make a thread sourced back to Go Nintendo, and the information is reliable and trustwrothy, then fine. If you link to a stupid, dumb rumour with poor sourcing and obvious inaccuracies, then you'll probably get a ban.

Post smart, stay safe. This has been a NeoGAF Nintendo public service announcement.
Ironically, the straw that broke the camel's back and got GN banned was a rumor that started in the comments section of a GN article and many websites reported on and got a GAF thead, but GN itself didn't report on the the rumor other than to say "no comment."

I wish. Badly. Perhaps more badly than any other third-party game, as I loved the first one and replay it about every other year.

But I have the gut feeling that I'm gonna have my heart broken. You can read the signs from a mile away, especially with Ancel talking about power levels in such a manner.

As far as I know, Star Fox 64 3D bombed, and Star Fox was never a huge seller. Same with Other M. Not sure why they'd waste Retro on those franchises. It's going to be a new IP.

If EAD just put effort into a new Star Fox like they did with Star Fox 64, we'd have an awesome game. Instead, they keep lending the IP to third parties or, most recently, remaking the only good one. That franchise doesn't need Retro. It just needs Nintendo actually give a damn.

Zelda on the other hand...

What if Retro was working on Pokemon with a very dark storyline?

When Nintendo had no idea on how to take metroid into 3d they gave it Retro. Perhaps the same could be done with Poke.

I think it's been mentioned by bg before, but there's claims that it's not Metroid or Zelda.

1)  Price? $324.99

2)  Release date? Nov 18th

3)  Bullshit xbox360-based Multiplier Equivalent? 3X

4)  Nintendo conference surprise(s)? new 3D Mario from EAD Tokyo shown

5)  Predict Miyamoto's role/costume/appearance context in this year's show. Dressed as a U pad

6)  Any special MS or Sony predictions? Sony shows Last of Us and Last Guardian, making more of a splash than MS.

7)  You know we're going to hear some, umm, interesting excuses from third parties.  So.. what'll be your favorite? "We couldn't figure out how to port our control scheme to the Wii U pad without clickable sticks"

8)  Any special E3 plans/arrangements of your own?  Taking off from work?  Skipping a final exam? Taking off work, one computer streaming conference (with at least 2 backups) and one on GAF.

9)  Your favorite bullshit gaming media critique of Nintendo's performance at E3 this year? "BLOPS 2" looks better on 360

10)  Your own predicted complaint/peeve/angering issue regarding Nintendo's E3 performance this year? Not enough details about OS and NiN

You'll never convince me that Pokemon's gameplay is suitable for an MMO.

As an avid MMO gamer for going on 15 years... A Pokemon MMO would work so SO WELL. And it would make a gob of money the size of the moon. Analysts keep bitching at Nintendo for not putting Mario on iOS? A Pokemon MMO is what they should really be pissed about.

Explain how the party aspect would work. Also, battles.

Maybe DQX can...

No, it can't. Turn-based is the least of the issues I see.

I'd be interested in seeing what would happen to certain measurements of economic activity if there were ever a Pokemon MMO. People would stay home, playing. They wouldn't spend money. No eating out. Not buying as much gasoline. All Pokemon, all the time.

If done properly, it could be bigger than WoW.

Explain how the party aspect would work. Also, battles.

Players in a party would meet another party with their available Pokemon. They would initiate a battle, which could be rejected by the other party. If the parties are not equal in number, the party with the most must select who will take part and who won't. Initiative would be determined by some statistic or other. Go.

If a party wins, even members that weren't involved in that specific fight get something.

No, no, no. Think bigger. Imagine the merchandising. Imagine the possible Skylanders type shit they could involve in it. Think WebKinz if you want to know what I mean by that. Kids by action figures of their favorite Pokemon, scan them using NFC or some other method, and this allows them to evolve that Pokemon in their group, or raise its stats or something.

Uh... Why it gotta be party based? Imagine if all of the npc trainers and gym leaders were real people. Bam, Pokemon MMO.

So, basically a Pokemon social network in a virtual world.

Yeah, not interested. Still seems like one of those "cool on paper, boring as fuck in practice" ideas.

Wow.

That's.. that's evil. I can hear parents around the world cursing Nintendo's good name as their children drive them nuts asking them for more figurines.

"No Nintendo, you are the Activision."
And then Iwata was Bobby Kotick.

As opposed to Pokemon in a virtual world with NPCs? Which do you think is more intriguing to people? Seriously, I don't see the problem. The game would even play largely the same, only it would offer more opponents and perhaps some virtual rewards (trophies) that you can keep in your PokeHouse. You'd still be able to fight NPCs, just that you'd always have access to other players for greater rewards.

Uh... Why it gotta be party based? Imagine if all of the npc trainers and gym leaders were real people. Bam, Pokemon MMO.

Gym leaders should stay be npc and so should the final four however...
There would be a pokemon competition, where the one who wins gets the title of the world wide champion. To enter it you must beat the elite four :P

There would be events, downloadable areas, accessible for a few days only, where you could catch legendaries. Legendaries would be truly rare, since it would be first to catch or kill it bases, no more shots for anyone else, unless the trainer challenging it would "die".

You could even have events portrayed in the movie taking place in the game, effecting the whole world. So for example people fail at stopping the castle from moving (I think pokemon white movie?), the dragon fields screw up the whole world. Everything goes off, weird stuff happens everywhere.

Just thinking about NFC in DQX Wii U version, Japan will devour figurines, generating a plastic shortages at world level.

Yup. Seriously, that's god-tier type stuff right there from a marketing perspective.

A Pokemon MMO that uses it? More money than god.
