Okay, I just thought I might have missed some rumor about this, that's all.

Btw, Nintendo did lower the clockspeed of the GameCube GPU at the last minute. They found it was running far ahead of the CPU so hey lowered it while upping the clock of the CPU.

Yeah I remember the outcry, I was on IGN's board at the time, but what is interesting about the clock speeds of that gpu, is that when they needed a faster gpu, they went with a higher clock rate, it doesn't mean they are going to push for super high clocks, but with an OoOe multicore CPU, they should look at up clocking the gpu if there is no limitations with TDP, also the gamecube, didn't have iwata at the helm, even when they designed Wii, iwata was only the president of Hal, so looking at that and basing an argument on it is not really relevant

Nothing wrong with having a preference. For whatever reason, many folks seem convinced that preferring one over the other is a sin. I don't get it.

Console preference isn't what I mean though. Most have a preference.

Anyways, in the hyperthetical event that all 3 have a sku at the same price point which one would you be inclined to buy?

It's not just about console preference though. I do get irritated when people make fun of my favorite console manufacture and I sometimes don't care about the other two at all.

I would like to point out that Atari beat Nintendo to the asymmetric gameplay bandwagon by 30 some years by allowing you to play giant plane vs tiny jets in "Combat! ".

Atari's amazing. They allowed my imagination to guide me through games.

My Wii just died while I was playing Xenoblade Chronicles. Stupid thing, the Wii U doesn't come out for several more months, your automated kill switch went off early! XD
You're assuming things :). Maybe your Wii died because it knows the Wii-U is being released only 2 months away on July 15, 29 years to the day after the Famicom's release in Japan.

Atari's amazing. They allowed my imagination to guide me through games.
You know, people say that, and maybe it's because I'm not a visual person, but I was raised in the Atari 2600 era, and I didn't imagine diddly while playing those games. The graphics usually weren't as horrible as to not recognize what they were supposed to be, and in the cases where they were it didn't matter. In Adventure I never thought of the square as a person, in Combat I never imagined contrails in the sky, in Missile Command I never imagined the lines coming from the sky or my bullet dots as missiles. They were just games.

So, what's everyone's imagined "heaven on earth" scenario for E3? Imma thinking:

- New Super Mario WiiU (EAD Group No. 4)
- Pikmin 3 (EAD Group No. 4)
- The Legend of Zelda (Retro Studios)
- F-Zero (Monster Games)
- Star Fox (Kamiya / Platinum Games)
- Eternal Darkness 2 (Silicon Knights)
- Yoshi's Island (Good Feel)
- New 3D Mario? (EAD Tokyo)
- New Miyamoto IP?

Ehhh.. for some, I used my imagination. Haunted House comes to mind immediately.

Frogger and Missile Defense, on the other hand were not too inspiring of imagining.

my copy of Xenoblade still sealed

Fix this already.

If you can use your imagination while reading then you can use your imagination while playing games :P

Don't worry. I didn't imagine anything either. Just a bunch of blocks

I'm just thinking about what would happen if they announced "Super Mario Bros. 5". No, this speculation has no basis in reality, but oh, the continuity chaos, consternation and gnashing of teeth that would create.

+ I want a new "Geist". The concept has TONS of potential and should be awesome on Wii U's hardware(the tablet controller could be used in some hilarious ways). I loved the original on gamecube. def one of the most underrated GC games ever. the intro music alone *drools*

This is one ip I would like to see make a comeback. Geist on GC wasn't a bad game at all and multiplayer was pretty fun.

Bolded plus

-Metroid Prime Hunters 2 (outsourced Dev)
-Poke'mon Stadium/Coliseum/Battle Revolution game

The former to fill a multiplayer niche the latter to complement the BWs.

I don't tend to use my imagination when reading :p. I'm an avid reader of fantasy novels, but I don't imagine what people/places look/sound like while reading. I just get the story, I have no need to imagine the scenes...

2 things:

1. Why is your name Dreamwriter if you have no imagination?

2. How does that even work? if susan says to john "Your face is full of holes." do you not think of a girl saying that to a guy? what about the holes? does she mean potmarks or like nostrils? how can you not set up the scene in your head somewhat? I think you need to donate your brain to science. Right now, I need answers!

-_- back from a ban I really shouldnt joke so close to E3, did I miss anything good

I'm planning to go to the future tomorrow to visit gaf and complain about Gametrailer's comparison videos not including Wii U because it looks like mud on walls compared to PS4/XB3.

New Monolith RPG.

It would be interesting to see what would happen if Xb8 went super-power console alone.
How influential would extra power and xblive be with potentially two thirds of the market in a similar power bracket?
Devs would probably be 'asked' to shape themselves around the bigger piece of the pie.. Or not. Hmm.

Produced with the Chrono Trigger team (Sakaguchi, Horii) as a spiritual sequel, or an actual sequel if they can get the rights

Just bringing in Kato to write with Monolith again would be enough for something special. In theory though, Nintendo being in good relations with MistWalker, they could get pretty close to setting up the old dream team since many people who worked on CT and CC are at Monolith.

- New Super Mario WiiU (EAD Group No. 4)
- Pikmin 3 (EAD Group No. 4)
- The Legend of Zelda (Retro Studios)I don't want them to waste their time on it, EAD3 plz
- F-Zero (Monster Games)
- Star Fox (Kamiya / Platinum Games)yes please
- Eternal Darkness 2 (Silicon Knights)If they can actually save themselves, I'd love to see future Wii U games from them.
- Yoshi's Island (Good Feel)
- New 3D Mario? (EAD Tokyo)This is something I think we are all waiting for
- New Miyamoto IP?What I hope retro is really working on

Retro should be making a modern day game based around Zelda, give us a modern city strong fantasy undertones, like magic and legends, but it's all secret and then give us a 17-21 year old hero who rides a motorcycle and has to save the city from disaster like in Zelda.

That to me would be a huge head turner for Non Nintendo fans, and we would want it badly too, the media would talk about it too, because well Nintendo doesn't really pander to the core gamer, so a game like that would be perceived as a huge change of direction for the company. If they can work in some Shenmue daily life, it would become a huge title to not only show off the Next Gen console, but also to push core gamers onto the system.

- New Miyamoto IP?

Hmm.. they're all console-related wishes (3DS can wait!):
- 3D Mario title revealed for Launch Day
- Pikmin 3 is a graphical & uPad-demonstrative showcase, for Launch Day
- sneak peek at the next Zelda game
- sneak peek at the next Kid Icarus game
- the return of F-Zero
- the return of Star Fox
- the return of Eternal Darkness
- the long-awaited return of StarTropics (I'd probably cry hearing the orchestrated music in the trailer)
- one great third-party jRPG exclusive in the style of Tales of Synphonia
- BG&E2 revealed to be an exclusive for the Wii U
- Gabe Newell shows-off a timed exclusive Portal 3 (with Portal 1 & 2 Collector's edition as the pre-order bonus)

Not saying that this idea isn't interesting, but why is it that whenever I see Nintendo fans/enthusiasts post about new things they want to see, they always draw a parallel to a currently existing frame in Nintendo's top tier offerings? Why can't this be a straight up new game with new conventions versus something based around another IP? That one isn't going anywhere anytime soon and its prominence only makes me wonder why bother asking for new if all folks seemingly want is Zelda in Space/Post Modern Zelda/Cyberpunk Zeldaetc.

I feel somewhat out of touch with modern fans just because of things like this when speculation on games comes up. What I would like to see is Nintendo blow conventions out of the water and just say "Fuck it, Nintendo tier game design with proper 90's era Nintendo marketing budget" and do something I would never expect them to. Give me a high action game, give me a set piece styled adventure game, give me a classic fighting game... Just do something different with that "Nintendo touch".

Edit: And yes I know the irony of saying something like this while wanting an expansive reboot to a legacy Nintendo IP in StarTropics as something Uncharted meets Mighty Max. :lol

On the other hand, it could end up being the Zelda version of New Coke: technically proficient and reactive to perceived market demands, but completely misunderstanding the value the market places on the product.

For me it's simply a case of there being little to discuss with that. Sure i would love for nintendo to create a completely new IP that blows us away but there isn't really much to speculate on. So besides saying 'i would love a new IP from nintendo' the conversation stalls pretty quickly. That's why discussion tends to revolve around IP's which we already know something about and can speculate on their futures.

When I said based around Zelda, I meant the genre, if I was to give you a mixing of ideas... it would be based in a sort of future city (like maybe midgar?) the city would be set up sort of like Shenmue (where you can visit different places and maybe meet up with friends and try to solve the mystery of what is going on?) You could treat the game like a simulation adventure I guess... the actual action parts would have you exploring ruins, and watching as the fantasy world starts to overtake the world "we" live in, and has the main character stopping this event before it destroys the city.

I just think that the feeling of action should be more like Zelda, exploration + fighting your way out of traps and stopping something that feels unstoppable.

Speculation:
Nintendo will have a good portion of the Wii's library available for the WiiU launch via their e-shop. Populated with games that have never crossed over to all territories.

Question:
Will there be a software update/channel for the original Wii for it to gain access to those games as well?

.

Speculation:
Nintendo has commanded all their studios to make at least one e-shop game alongside their main title to provide enough content for that service at launch.

Question:
How you would feel if Retro made available a sequel to DKCR as their e-shop game for the WiiU (1080p), and as a retail game for Wii (480p)? Which version would you buy?

.

Well, I think Zelda is used because it's perfect in that every game is a new part of the same ever-continuing story, so they have the option to take it in that direction without breaking the mythos of the series, if it's handled correctly. Most other series don't really give that opportunity.

An idea I just had for Zelda Wii U

Horseback combat system

The issue

Sometimes it can be difficult to control the direction of the horse while also controlling your bow to pick off targets. For example, when riding a horse, you pull out your bow and the controls for your horses direction are gone.

The TV Screen

The Wii U, as always, will use a TV screen to frame the important action. Potentially Link on horseback riding the horse into strategic positions and avoiding enemy attacks and other dangers. What if this is all the TV did when on horseback?

The "new view"

Taking aim while still being able to control your horse via the left analog stick could be as easy as physically aiming the Wii U controller around the outside of the confines of the TV display getting a first person view of link while still being able to control your horses movements or via the right analog stick.

Do you guys think this might be too confusing? Or is this a way the Wii U can improve traditional gameplay?

Tonight, I realize I have yet a lot to learn about GAF.

And now I'm sad.

Don't be, history is a funny thing, everyone willing enough can become an insider sooner or later.

Also the PS tripple man I mean, the PS tripple^^
I ain't playin with no deeeldow.

One of the all time classic trolls. He just nails it.

New Monolith RPG.

My dream would be a fusion of Xenoblade (Environments, Quests and Setting) and Last Story (Characters, Story and Battlesystem)

...

My absolute dream scenario would also include world building (similar to Minecraft, but not quite as essential to the game) I enjoyed the rebuilding of Colony 6 in Xenoblade, but found it sad that I had no control over the layout and style of the rebuilding.

Imagine an RPG where you can build your own town, manage it's resources, and go on adventures in offline mode, and when connected you become part of a huge war, where you can choose your allegiance, conspire and support whoever you want, or attack anyone you want.

A game of Thrones type of situation if you will.

why dont we have games that make fun of other "Mega" games ??

like what "Scary movie 1,2,3,4" do to all other movies ??

i thought Conker idea came to fruition from that concept right ?

Because we already have laughingly bad clones?

HMM since I'm the top of the page, I think I'll bring up a new topic, what graphics should be expect from Wii U? I would imagine that the best looking current gen console game would look similar to Wii U's first year games?

Maybe that Kara demo is a good starting point, as it shows off a lot of effects that are a bit more modern.
