The Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition |OT| Bow low, you stand before a head crowned.

Its that big.

Redone assets, 3-4 hours of content, new cutscenes.

Wow, what a totally unexpected bonus hearing about this. I remember these guys promised that all future DLC would be free at the beginning and they're actually following through. Really love this game and the people behind it.

In terms of new content, does it matter who you go with to chapter 2? Is there new stuff that is locked to one or the other?

Thanks a lot, didnt try to toggle with the pause button, will try tonight.

toggling with the pause button made the actual witcher game pause. It was pretty funny. Had to swap the toggle to f7. Also once you toggle it on, it remembers and you don't have to do it each time you start up the game.

So I can't find my CD key to download the Enhanced Edition.

CD Projekt have a work around where they give you a unique code and then get you to take photos of your game discs with the code and email it to them, wait 72 hours and then they'll get back to you.

Still waiting...

Just toggle it from the menu and press ESC. No problem.

Nine out of ten orphans can't tell the difference.
will i get more/less of a fps drop if just supersample from 1440p rather than ubersampling?

Ubersampling is more taxing than going from 1440 to 1080p, from what I've understood ubersampling is technically 2x2 SSAA so downsampled from 2160p if you're running a 1080p monitor.

I think I might actually finish this tonight or tomorrow.
I'm at 365 saves on my first playthrough right now, and I have to beat it before I hit 400!

i imagine it being downsampled from 1440p will give a better image quality as opposed to fxaa or smaa?

Seems like they rendered Zoltan's beard differently in the 360 version.

The Witcher 2 PC is $25 in the store.

The Witcher 2:EE PC is $45.

The Extended Edition content is available for free online for PC users.

So what is the point of the $45 package exactly?

I'm guessing the original is $25 just because they're phasing out that SKU. The reason there's a new package is because all the updates should come in the initial install now, I presume.

Change of publishers too.

Although, the manual has been updated, and unless GOG gets an exclusive expanded soundtrack that may be a factor too. I thought the guide would've been updated, but if GOG's any indication it's the same as it was in the first place.

Well I just picked up the $25 version. Still comes with bonus disc with music and behind the scenes videos. Nice price for something xbox is just getting for $60.

I think I'm experiencing a glitch at the end of the prologue, during The Dungeons of the La Vallettes quest. I
allowed Aryan La Valette to live
, but once I run into him and am tasked with dispaching the rest of the guards, the quest never seems to update to reflect that I've done so, and I'm stuck.

Looked around a bit, but no one else seems to be complaining about this bug. I've restarted a few times
back to when I first knocked out the guards and escaped my cell
, but ran into the same issue twice over. I don't think I have another save prior to this point, and really don't want to restart the entire prologue...

I never understood keeping that many saves. I usually just have 3 or 4 that I cycle through.
I kept cleaning out my saves as I went. I have a USB that I use to backup all of my pc save files that matter to me. I was only saving the manual saves, but I have a problem with saving frequently...
I made it under the 400th save though! I finished at save 383 on my first playthrough. So proud of myself!

Beat the game! SUPERB.
Man, I wish there were more games that were as strong as this one was. I'm going to probably play through the ending twice more, because I saved right before a path diverged near the very end on the Roche side. I doubt there's much difference, but I'll do it anyways!

That last hour or so was really, really good. I loved the movie that played after the ending, too. SERIOUS BUSINESS. Oh man, I can't wait. : D

Just made it to the second act - Iorveth path. I figured it to be saving the best for last, but Iorveth isn't actually so bad once he gets over the 'I so wary of you D'hoine' spiel. Loving this game so much.

I have two questions that aren't spoilers to the story (or even story related), but I'll hide them just for the sake of others.

1. What can you craft that uses the dragon scales? I only found two in the final chapter, but no idea what they were for.

2. How do you open that chest on Philippa Eilhart's roof in Loc Muinne?

Does the 360 version share the awful PC save system? You know, the way the game will constantly create brand new save files and will never get rid of the old ones unless you manually delete them in the Load Save section?

Scales are used to craft some weapons towards the end of the game. I think you can buy the diagrams for them from the Bras of Ban Ard.

The 360 version keeps three autosaves at most - rewrites over the oldest one when saving a new one. You can also save manually, separate from the autosaves. I have four of those atm and don't know if there's a limit to those.

9/10 NeoGAFfers don't understand statistics. The other 3/10 don't care.

No it uses 3 auto saves like Skyrim

Does anyone know where I can buy Essense of Death for a quest in Act 1? Got a bunch earlier during a quest, but used them, now I need some for another quest.

I believe the witch in loboden (the small town outside flotsam) sells ingredients. Other than that drowners might have some.

Is there some easy strategy to beating the fucking
Druag? Since you have to destroy its shield
it seems like Quen's the only way to go aka you're fucked if you've been completely ignoring the Mage path.

Nah, she doesn't. Drowners? Just took down a few in the Kayran's lair, all I got was Essence of Water. Don't think I'm fighting anymore Wraiths this chapter.

Unless they changed it you don't need to destroy it's shield. Just dodge behind it and go to town.

Ah, okay then. I had already found and crafted some of what I assumed was the best equipment in the game, so no worries. It always makes me a little disappointed when a game hypes up the importance/power of an item, but then it gets replaced shortly after. Like the
Caeme sword or whatever it was I had Bras make for me. I figured "oh, the way he's going on about it, this must be the best sword in the game." But then I found one better in a cave when I was escorting Brigida to her boat. : |

Or the weapons/armor from Witcher 1 -> Witcher 2. Granted, I know it would be awful to give you the best equipment out of the gate, but it just makes me sad to have worked so hard for it in a previous game and be told, "Eh, whatever, look at this common sword! It's even better!"

edit:

I don't know if the sounds just didn't work properly in my fight against it, but that was a rough battle because it never made any sound effects when I was landing blows. I wasn't entirely sure if I was actually doing the right thing or not for a while there, haha.

Even quen has its flaws on that battle, as he will often charge you while you are casting it, knocking quen off and stun locking you to death,I found that he was the hardest battle in the game for me, well apart from a certain gargoyle spewing, fireball throwing individual.
