For some reason after installation, it's telling me I only have 8GB of RAM (I have 16). Is that a known issue?

So apparently there's crafting items in act 1 that I'd need to make the best sword/armour and that I'll never be able to get again? Can anybody fill me in?
If you see a crafting/alchemy item in the Quest Items tab, put it in storage, basically.

I wouldn't worry. Doubt Witcher 2 uses more than 4gb at most. don't know if there's any game out that even has support for more than 4gb.

Does anyone know how to stop it from wanting to install NetFx every time I start it up. *edit* Fixed it had to uninstall Net framework and VC and let it install them.

so does anyone else hate the fact you have to use the camera to loot?

Yes, disabling traps and finding the correct nook to jump onto can be a pain in the ass for this reason. I use my medallion pretty often in order to mark items of interest, though, and that makes the game less frustrating.

Yesterday I just ran around the Forest in Foltest, taking on whatever enemies approached me. The ambiance in the Forest is insane, especially paired with the environmental effects. This game reminds me a lot of some best in class, like Red Dead Redemption, Mass Effect, or Zelda but with a combat system all its own.

It was a shame about
that King Flotsam.

On another note were there any new quests added to act 1 in the EE I should be aware of?

Does that only happen on certain difficulties, I've never had to do it that way.

To the guy with the question:

You know you have to start at the bottom of the skill tree, right?

obviously, yet it still won't allow me to put anything into the tree..

edit: holy hell this is really frustrating -_-

I have a feeling they might have changed that for the xbox versions. I haven't played on anything but hard and dark though so I don't know.

Is this game that hard on Normal? My friend said it's Dark Souls levels of hard.

I think when the game first launched it had a weird difficulty curve (really hard in the beginning then it became very easy as you gained abilities). Now that curve has been smoothed out a little. In my opinion, it's not as punishing as Dark Souls but you do have to approach combat with strategy. Managing multiple enemies is the key. Also, take advantage of your mobility and your abilities and items. Some have trouble with it but I found it very enjoyable on normal.

wait a fucking second

I don't remember having to meditate every time I wanted to train!

well, whew, at least I can use my talents :D

I had a feeling that's what it was. You need to meditate for potions as well. You can't just pop them. It's kind of a lore reason. You're suppose to feel like you're preparing for battle.

So I'm loving dark difficulty. I get my ass handed to me in the harder fights but if I think about what I did wrong, use the right oils, or set the right traps ahead of time I haven't found anything to be unbeatable.
It's just about perfect.

Can't wait to give it a go, but one thing I've been wondering about is how you set traps ahead of time? A lot of the time enemies attack you in certain areas, so you can't just go in and set traps, because they'll be attacking you. Someone mentioned placing 10 traps to kill an Endega Queen, but I don't know how they did that before she attacked them.

I had to cheat in that fight, because I just could not beat it. : (
Went into the geralt_basic.ini and upped my health and regen to 1000 each, hahahhaha. I turned it back off, but I just couldn't beat him legit. Ridiculous fight...

You talking about the gargoyle guy?

Yeah... I wasn't expecting to run into as much trouble with that fight as I did, but it was just beyond my abilities.

He was a bugger, took me about 10 tries to kill him on normal on the Xbox, I found aard was a great help as you can knock him down even when he has his shield up, lucky he is optional boss.

I'm assuming you guys are talking about act 3
The Operator
?

Dead simple fight once you figure it out. Just
extinguish the two braziers on the walls that he uses to summon the gargoyles from. No more gargoyles. After that it's just dodging his fireballs and waiting for his shield to expire. The end.
:)

Before it was the kind of game that was quite hard at the beginning and as you get more abilities it becomes quite easy.

I don't know how it stands now, but I just started a new game on Dark mode. looool

For instance i was in one of the caves with a ton of neckers. Well they swarmed me and even came up behind me the first time. So the second time I set some conflagrations and a yrden before reaching the bulk of them. Then I just led them through the traps I had previously set and cleaned up the mess.

That obviously won't work for all the fights but most fights allow you to prepare for them.

Sweet. I'm actually looking forward to Dark Difficulty because Normal doesn't really (at the moment in Act 1) require you to use oils and traps. Sure, it helps, but I'm doing more than adequate dealing out damage with my swords and pimped up evade ability.

Holy crap, you have got to be kidding me. I must see this for myself!

Good thing I was going to be replaying that ending chunk soon, haha.

It's face palm simple tbh but genius at the same time using a game mechanic that's been taught throughout the game. Figured it out once I saw where the gargoyles came from. I find it amusing that people have mostly done that fight the 'wrong' way all these years (seemingly?) considering its obviously made deliberately hard if you don't remove them. Even the wiki doesn't mention it, but hey. :)

Also it's
4 braziers on the pillars, not 2
. Remembered wrong.

I thought it was just to look cool. Well, I feel quite the fool now for having cheated my geralt_basic file to do it now, hahahahaha

on normal? No way though there can be times where bullshit occurs. Not much of that happens in dark souls, you die when you fuck up not when the game fucks up.

It can be challenging on hard or dark if you haven't mastered the combat system but I didn't think it was all that impossible.

Gaf! What do I do!

I'm in the Fight Club and I'm on the last fight. Loredo just confronted me and wants me to throw the fight?

What's the benefit of throwing the fight? cons?

What's the benefit of winning the fight? cons?

thanks :)

I personally just wanna win D:

I personally just wanna win D:
There Geralt can fight some new, tougher opponents. Just before the final bout, Loredo tries to bribe Geralt to throw the fight.
Upon rejecting Loredo and winning the fight, the commandant makes a few ominous threats and has his guards escort Geralt to the gate. The witcher is then attacked by a couple of named thugs in the streets, who spout "Loredo sends his regards."

If you want to fulfill this quest you need to win all fights. Throwing the final fight results in a failed quest.

I know it's hard but you shouldn't research the consequences of your decisions beforehand. At least not on your first play through. Do whatever you want and find out for yourself what happens. Then when you play it again you can do all the research you want and tailor your play through to happen the exact way you want it to happen.

I would never look into the consequences this was the first time I played this game. This is my second playthrough, first playing dark mode, and I want to know certain things that'll fetch me the best reward so I can get the armor the fastest ^_~

believe you me, if this was my first time playing it, I wouldn't be asking any questions and would likely be avoiding this thread in case of spoilers

Well I just started it on Normal and the game is kicking my ass. Idk if I should stop sucking and endure the learning curve or just pussy it out and go with Easy.

I pussy'ed out and never looked back. Normal was too frustrating. Switching to easy was a great decision for me. I still struggle every now and then on boss fights and groups of enemies.

I just downloaded the 12gb update. Started installing and it says pack0.dzip is corrupt. What the fuuuuuuuck?

theres something you have to download and put but i forgot what you do. helps?

Go here: http://en.thewitcher.com/ee_manual/

Do this:

The Witcher 2 Technical Faq said:
Corrupted file when updating to Enhanced Edition?

If during patching your earlier version of the game to Enhanced Edition you receive an error message saying that the file is corrupted, try redownloading parts 0, 1, 2, 8, 25 and 27 from HERE and replacing them in the folder with your EE patch download.

edit: for a while, it seemed like just downloading parts 1 & 2 were enough to fix the corrupt pack0 problem. Perhaps first replacing only parts 1 & 2 to see if that fixes your issue would be better so you won't have to waste time and bandwidth downloading all the other parts listed above.

No one answered or saw my question from before. Are there any new act 1 quests in the EE?

Pretty sure no. Troll Trouble from the first major patch is the only Act I extra quest I know of.

Going by the Dark Edition game guide: there are only two new quests chains, (one per run) in Act 3.
