The Witcher 3 PS4 gameplay

That's the normal hair. It doesn't look too bad at all actyallu, just very polygon-y - like usual video game hair. It definitely looks like it's being acted on by physics though, and it's not just one whole mesh, there's little mesh strands around, so it sells it well.

Hairworks version is on another level though.

looks good to me I couldnt tell the difference honestly, its little touches like that i did not expect, i thought his hair was going to stay flat and glued to his head, this is a pleasant surprise

Even in TW1 this was not the case. CDP has always made a point to include some kind of hair physics for Geralt lol

I was interested in this game, however, after watching a few gameplay videos, everything looks so slow. The combat looks likt it is under water, so my hype is pretty much gone now.

I think this game will suffer from the same issues GTA, RDR and Skyrim suffer and prevent me from liking it.

For any veteran of the series, is my impression regarding the combat correct? Is it slow with small malee variety?

But this effect isn't in the game now, and it sucks :(

How did you know this effect isn't in the game now? Is there any new footage showing that same spell being cast on water? And what if the spell in that gif is at maximum level, that is why it creates such big fripples?

The weirdest bit about all this is that seeing this game so close to release, I cannot help but wonder how amazing that cyberpunk game could end up looking.

You should watch the GOG stream (http://www.twitch.tv/gogcom/v/4721705) and tell me the combat looks slow and with little variety

Compression is horrible, I can't really tell any major difference between PC footage to PS4 but I'm sure that with a higher quality video the differences will be more noticeable, still it's looking mighty impressive, really like how dense the environment is, clearly a big step up for games on PS4.

Oh, it's totally nit picks. It's al we got right now. Even if I'm nit picking this or that, it's never to the levels of: "So the game sucks 'cause pop-in".

DID SOMEONE SAY POP-INS?

That's it, pre-order cancelled, called the cops, barricaded my house.

Well, the combat has changed drastically from TW1 to TW2 and it looks like the combat in TW3 is a refinement of TW2's system.

It's not the fastest system nor the most in-depth but it seems perfectly serviceable. Personally, as someone who isn't a fan of TW1 or 2's combat system (I thought both games had absolutely awful combat systems), I'd still recommend you to pick up the game. They are fantastic RPG's and everything else in the game is done well enough for you to overlook the flaws of the combat.

Hell, even though I think TW2's combat was awful, it's one of my favorite games in the last decade.

You have so much more horsepower under that hood when compared to the PS4 that at first I thought this was a jokepost lol.

Of course PC is the way to go my friend. But you wouldn't be left out in the rain if you chose the PS4 though :D.
So it wasn't just me that thought that as well then. It seems there are always these kind of post for every multi platform game. Hey I just bought this super computer from NASA with tech not yet released to the mainstream market I also just got a very nice 8k monitor, should I just stick with the Wii version of said game?

Thanks! I'll definitely look into it. Hopefully my impression is 100% wrong, as the design, world and the whole idea regarding this game are really cool. If the combat is good, then it's day 1 :)

Oh, got it. But that's the issue I've mentioned regarding the other exemples I gave. like, GTA5 is amazing in pretty much everything, but due to the fact it's gameplay is "floaty" I just can't get into it, it doesn't matter how much I try, and the same goes for Skyrim, for example.

But thank you for the heads up and I'll keep the game on my radar, for sure :)

I have a PC that utterly destroys my PS4 in power.

I still prefer to play games on my PS4. For some people the choice actually is difficult. Not everything is about the graphics. I can earn trophies, party chat with friends, etc. while gaming on my PS4.

For some people the choice between the two can be a little difficult

The devs attack a bandit outpost under different "builds" as in an all combat, alchemy, and signs builds. Really cool to see the differences. After watching the video, I gotta say the bombs are my favorite part of the game and alchemy seems to play a much more important/bigger roll as opposed to W2 where it was pretty much neglected by most (as I understand it).

Nothing is spoiled story wise and you can check out how the difficulty ramps up when you try playing on deathmarch.

You really prefers trophies and chat over 60 FPS and superior visuals?
I only have a PS4 so not much choice here but I think a powerful PC is an easy choice.

Same here. I find the hassle of PC gaming to be too much sometimes.

However, with a game like TW3, PC's the way to go (and worth the hassle). It's not often you get a technical and graphical marvel alongside a fantastic game.

The difference really is a variety of factors. With consoles, you can pretty much put the disc in (update the game if need be) and play the game. With PC, it's often a little bit more complicated and sometimes, you just aren't in the mood to fix the 9th error that GTA V decided to spew out at you.

Everyone has their preference, but in cases like these I have to wonder why buy a powerful PC in the first place?

I'm surprised how good the game looks on the PS4. I mean yeah you can see that there is less draw distance, but the rest? Pretty good!

Sure I get that, but the poster asked what it would run better on, not which version would have PS trophies.

Double Dip 60fps machine, maybe. Games are cheap.

I don't own a good PC but will eventually build one next year and I am totally satisfied on how games look and run on PS4 most of the time.

Yep. May be sad but I really love Trophies. Getting Platinum on Witcher 3 will be awesome.

Because I still use it plenty? Theres lots of PC exclusives I want to play like Star Citizen, Pillars of Eternity, etc. And to be honest most multi plats out right now dont have a large difference between the PS4 versions and PC. They have better framerates and better IQ but in nearly all titles right now assets are pretty close to the same.

Maybe when there is a larger difference between PC graphics and PS4 I'll start to transition my multi plats over but currently outside of framerate and aliasing the PS4 versions are easily on par with PC

I have a simular dilema, have a powerful PC and a ps4 but if the game has a stable enough framerate regardless if it's 30 i rather play it on ps4, the easy of use, party chat with friends, consoles are very social friendly and that's in a way more important to me than prettier graphics, the fact that you can stream and capture media with the press of a button on your console is great as well, i tend to play games on my PC when they are a technical mess on console ALA assassins creed unity but everything that runs stable goes on my ps4

I have a very powerful PC for games that I can only play on PC. Very CPU heavy strategy games like Total War etc. Even though I could play games like The Witcher 3 on it, I still prefer PS4 as well.

For me a lot of it has to do with being a collector though. I want that game box on my shelf and having a digital library has always left me feeling hollow. Hard to explain.

What hassle? Clicking on the game on Steam and waiting what will likely be 1/4 of the time for a load screen on PC vs a console is a hassle now?

Come off it. I get it that some people prefer console gaming, but there's no reason to invent shit in order to justify your decision. also chat? PC is where social media shines. You can't beat chat options on PC with consoles.

I prefer Sony stuff. It's not convenient to put my PC under my TV or I don't have somehting to strream from my PC to my TV, I like to collect game boxes. Those are all valid reasons to own a PC and yet prefer to play some game on a console.

"Too much hassle!" Is some fanboy bullshit. It's not 1999 anymore.

And finally - Graphics isn't the only reason to prefer a PC version. Choice of input device is another, mods, is yet another, in this game you get to carry over saves from the previous games, there are options in terms of graphics too. Instead of CD Project red saying you want this option at setting x, and this option off, and this option at setting y, YOU get to make the decision that makes the game look/run according to YOUR specific preferences. That's a big one, for me personally.

Both camps should stop downplaying the pros and cons of each other, and also stop inventing issues where there are none to justify personal choices. You like playing it on a Sony console, cool for you. No need to come in ehre and say PC gaming is hassle. That makes Geralt very angry.

Common complaint, but the YT compression makes it hard to get a handle on how detailed it is. Seems to play pretty smoothly, though.

In your case I will choose PC, not for graphics only but especially for the upcoming mods, the ability to bring saves from Witcher 1 to Witcher 2 which affect the game and bringing saves from Witcher 2 to Witcher 3 which will affect the game too. So basically Witcher 1 saves affect Witcher 3 indirectly.

Fanboy bullshit? The fuck are you on about? I'm talking about my personal experiences. I bought a 980 for this game.

The last two games I bought on PC were GTA V and MKX. MKX is a horrible port that I won't even bother to talk about. GTA V I couldn't play the entire first fucking day because I had MacType installed on my computer. A program that had nothing to do with much of anything and something I uninstalled by pure coincidence that allowed the game to work. So yes, sometimes, there's a huge fucking hassle to make shit work.

Edit: And that's ignoring all the other shit that went wrong with GTA V.

Have any games ever done the jumping animation right? It always looks like they just lift off the ground without any upwards momentum at all.

The only one I can think of is GTA V's jump animation while standing still.

Why doesn't the water react at all to the player outside of the first time he jumps in? Water looks really bad in that gif.

It looks like the splashy / ripple effects are turned way down on PS4, for obvious reasons I guess.
For example, zero ripple effect here:

However, you do still get some decent splishy splashy when you're on a horse.

Do the first two games have a lot of mod potential? What sort of stuff has been done in the past?
For some reason I totally hadn't considered if there would be a modding scene for this.
