Tehre are hairdressers in Oxenfurt and Novigrad.Yes, but sadly no auto shaving :(

I've never seen the barber in Novigrad open, no matter what time of day. The armorer in Oxenfort is the same way. I visited him once and then he was never open again.

Does anyone know the numerical order that all the side quests for White Orchard, Velen, Novigrad and Skellige should be done in? And if so, can you please post it?

I don't think that I can access the Dirty Funds side quest at all since I completed the Deserter Gold and Temerian Valuables quests already in White Orchard.

I wan't to do all the side quests and can see that im going to have to start over or re-load if possible in order to not miss any quests.

On a related side note...im not happy that certain quests disappear if not done in a certain specific order. It's very aggravating and frustrating.

Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I had no idea you could miss quests in this way :(

I probably missed a few things in white orchad then

I finished everything in The White Orchard and yet I'm finding myself to be severely underleveled for any quests I find (even the main ones) in Veren. Just hit level 4.

Recommendations?

Anyone who can comment on how huge the stamina malus is for heavy armor? I really want to wear some of the cooler looking heavy armor, but I'm hoping I can negate the stamina penalty with enough points invested into the magic tree.

I'm starting to think this game has TOO much content. I'm getting to the point where my quest backlog is just getting out of hand. I fear that doing everything will make me outlevel the main campaign content, thus removing all of the challenge.

Right now I'm level 8. The last campaign mission recommended level 5 and gave me 0 challenge whatsoever. I guess I should try and pace myself with side content, but... I feel like I'm missing out on interesting gear if I don't do everything.

Maybe I'll gimp myself by only using armor that looks good. Then I'll be stuck basically using the starting armor all game long :)

The good thing is that pretty much every quest is great. I also love that you can start some quests, and most contracts, by finding some of the clues in the wild. Geralt even has custom dialogue for these situations, such as "This looks like the work of a Noonwraith, maybe there's a notice board contract in a nearby village?"

Question about a later side quest for a returning character
anyone else's Roche quest An Eye for An Eye bugged? I arrive to the Hanged Mans tree and the marker is there but no Roche anywhere. Am I fucked.

I had that. I went back to the camp for for a different reason and talking to him there teleported me to the Hanged Mans tree.
(not a mage teleport, just a whoomp, here we are now)

A pair of scissors.Sorry, didn't save a barber yet, only common merchants :(
Thanks bro.

What difficulty are you on? Im in the same situation on Blood and Bones and I still find myself getting beat by under level mobs. I say if youre going for multiple playthroughs just play how you see fit then try to do the opposite on another playthrough.

Nonsense, there are tons of quests for level 5-7 that should be easy for you. In either case, start by doing main quests, you'll level up to 6 in no time.

Stick to the story missions for now, only trying out that pretty much cross your path until you gain a level. It should come quick. Craft whatever the best stuff you can. It's fine to punch above your weight level wise. At level 5 you should be able to easily take on level 6 or 7 mobs. Even 8 and 9's, though they're going to hit hard.

You can very safely do quests up to 5 levels higher than your current level. Possible to do more with some patience/skill.

Interesting. I'll have to try it. I've been reading that people haven't had any luck talking to him at camp.

I just noticed the severe lack of blacksmiths and sword smiths in Velen.

edit: never mind, there isn't a lack of blacksmiths, for some reason only 1 of them shows up on the map.

A problem I have with the horses is the fact they suddenly stop moving for no apparent reason. It's so frustrating when it happens.

Cool! Thanks :)

Edit: Should have clarified that I'm playing the game just fine, I just didn't know if I was missing something.

Yes, they need to just make the character movement more fluid. Especially when riding around. I also think weapon switching is super laggy. Sometimes Geralt won't even pull out a sword when he enters combat.

Every open world game should take a lesson from how CDPR crafts its cities.

Just look how populated Novigrad or Oxenfurt is, tons of NPCs just doing whatever and interacting with the environment. That's what makes them feel believable and worth exploring.

I really hope Bethesda's next game isn't going to be like Skyrim in that regard: 10 NPCs awkwardly standing around doing nothing and maybe 1-2 guards patrolling. It's almost embarrassing by comparison.

regarding that lighthouse:

guys, this game is really open world

dont think ive hit an instance where I couldnt do something yet, at all

there's always a way around

With that light house I knew the entrance was underwater but couldn't for the life of me find it in that cave (it was on the side >.<) so I went back up and jumped at a slight angle to the right of the drawbridge and landed on a ledge and hopped over the wall there! Not the intended way but I love I can do that. It's a shame where there are places where the devs don't want you doing that and make invisible walls and stuff like around the mountainy place with the giant tree in the south of Velen (not the ancient oak).

Regarding the Bloody Baron quest (Family Matters) quick question but no major spoilers please :)

I've found the daughter in Oxenfurt and she said she'd try to find her mother along with some new friends. I told the Baron about my findings. Now the quest just says to follow my last few leads but with no pointer or anything. Went back to the dead horse but saw nothing. I must've missed something? Or should I do other stuff and progress this quest later?

Also, completely unrelated but the design of the Botchling was a little underwhelming to be honest; from the description I thought it would look far more real, creepy and disgusting.

Any way over here or is this story related:

I actually looked for an underwater entrance but couldn't find.

There's a low, broken wall to the right of the draw bridge with some rocks creating a small footing just beneath it. I ran and jumped to the rocks then climbed over the small wall.

To my knowledge it isn't
story related.
. Some nice gear there though.

Where can i find some place to repair in Velen? I just entered this zone. My steel sword been under 50% for god knows how long. Man, do i hate this "damaged weapon" crap. :( Hopefully there's a mod someday for that.

Make more progress in the main quest.

Just keep doing the other branch of the main quest with the witches.

They really need to cushion the horses movement better so that it can sort of push around stuff it hits instead of stopping dead so often. It often seems to stop running for no reason and you realize it tripped on a pebble or something.

Triss kind of gets sidelined in the second half of the game...seems like the canon choice is probably to go with Yennifer going by the amount of screentime they get.

There's an underwater entrance on the front side if you go down. That's how I got in.

I just noticed the severe lack of blacksmiths and sword smiths in Velen.

They are around. They just don't stick to the automap like junk vendors do. For a while I was fast traveling across the continent to get my sword fixed, because I felt like I was just running around in circles. Probably came close to one many times.

It has to be a glitch, don't see why they'd do that on purpose.

I really like Triss...but I'm going to go with what feels more "canon" for this playthrough. Hopefully I can come back someday and play through with Triss.

Yeah I've noticed that also. It happens a lot when he automatically takes his sword out on horseback when enemies are about to attack but he doesn't put it away when you press the button to do so.

I think what Witcher 3 has in common with GTA is that both games have a richly detailed and beautifully designed open world sandbox, but also really well-written characters and meaty story missions and side missions.

You seldom feel like one is being sacrificed for the other. It's quality and quantity.

I can't believe how well-written this game is. The dialogue not only feels authentic, but the story arcs are pretty well-paced. The amount of side quests there are, and the fact that rarely do any of them feel pointless is a ridiculous achievement. This is one of the best RPGs I think I've ever played, and I'm like 30 hours in in less than a week. I never do that. I feel dirty just realizing it.

On the other hand, I'm worried about something now
I've ploughed both Keira and Triss (on separate occasions), and had both go to Kaer Morhen. I fear that won't end well.
