What? But that's impossible I caught an eternal flame dude red fucking handed about to torture and murder a hooker, how on earth did you guys end up with the morgue guy / Lambert?

He's just a plain sadist, the morgue guy (who is, incidentally, a vampire) planted clues to lead you to him.

Bravo CD Projekt Red

You created one of my favorite games of all time

I loved the ending and still have plenty of Witcher contracts to go

Instant Game of the year , definitely leagues better than anything released last year too

Best game of this Gen so far

It's so much better without POIs or the minimap. If the game had a small on-screen compass function, it'd be perfect.

I strongly recommend to turn off the mini-map. At least temporarily while exploring a new area for the first time.

I turned it off when first arriving in Novigrad and have been just wandering around blindly exploring Novigrad & the surrounding Northern region around Novigrad.

To put it simply

Mini-map ON : Half my attention was on the mini-map and looking for quest icons and points of interest, while the other half was on the world/exploring

Mini-map OFF: My whole attention was on exploring. This really increased immersion and the enjoyment of the exploration aspect. I was running into quests and points of interests etc out of luck and it was much more fun

I have explored enough of the Northern part now with the mini-map off. Now I will turn it on and concentrate on the quests etc

I really recommend having it off, at least until when you feel you have explored an area enough by your own.

Definitely turn off POIs. I turned them back on when I was cleaning up looking for places of power but I feel like you discover enough stuff taking contracts from noticeboards and just walking around. Contracts take you just about everywhere.

Definitely.
I was so overwhelmed by the amount of POIs as soon as I read the first notice board in Velen. No, the game's not going to tell me where to go next, it has to be me the one in control. I still need that minimap intact though, or else I'll have to open my map once every few seconds lol. I turned off everything else, action hints, potions, durations, and even health bar. After playing the game this long, I've reached that point where I can feel when I need to use my potions.

I'm not even done and I think this has finally surpassed Mass Effect 2 as my favorite game of all time.

That...is incredibly stupid design. I'm all about choices mattering, but it's hard for me to understand why listening to that story should determine Triss not staying.

Yep that's why I said it's the stupidest thing in the game. It's like
"well If you tell her you love her and she leaves then you will be sad so you will want to hear another sad story, but if you are confused and want to try and make it work and she leaves then you are mad and don't care about damn sob stories" Really weird.

If you start questioning
the eternal fire guy he indicates he has no fucking idea what you're talking about with murders, and that he just likes torturing people, and intends to let the prostitute go. He says the only person who knew he was at the bar was the morgue guy. You can then either let the eternal fire guy go, or kill him, then chase down morgue guy. And then you learn he's a vampire, hence how he managed to scale the wall so easily, and why he looks so young.

Now that's a sneaky little detail.

Spoilers for a late game, world changing side quest.
I think it's really silly that protecting Roche from Dijsktra and his men forces you to kill him, especially given your odd friendship. The character should have known he'd have no chance against Geralt and stood down when you made it clear you wouldn't stay neutral and let Roche and Ves die.

For anyone who has complete the quest: "The Sunstone"

There is a locked chest here, have no idea how to open it. Going crazy scouring for a key in here.

Long Post

Dude, what are you doing? What's with all this nonsense speculation?

I've played much more than you. Almost every assumption in your post about my build is wrong.

Your hypothetical about bombs and signs are wrong.

You've moved the goal post again. First it was detractors just like to mash. Then it was I'm losing out on efficiency. Both are wrong, so now it's... A bunch of wild speculation?

I have no interest in being talked down to by someone who openly has less experience with the game while simultaneously implying I can't understand this incredibly simple system. Feel free to continue making up details about me, what I want, or how I play. Know that I won't be reading it.

In Novigrad doing the story quest
Get Junior, went to his casino and played two opponents before his men descended on me and I had to kill them. Failed the step labeled 'play opponents at the Casino.' Is this unavoidable, or do you have to lose a game or something?

Honestly,
I just wanted to listen to his story because I love hearing him talk. He's so sarcastic and snappy. I loved him, so I wanted to listen.
Oh well, I don't have interest in sitting to replay the like five hours between that quest and the one I'm on now. I'll live with it. Always another playthrough someday.

Has anyone else not put ANY skill points into Alchemy yet? I'm level 10 and the only points I've spent are on Combat and Signs (Fast Attacks and Igni/Quen).

I definitely feel like Alchemy is a second play through build unless your completely committed to it. Not great for the first run since most people don't even touch it for a couple of levels or frankly don't know where any of the recipes are, or don't have the patience to prepare before each fight. But the tree itself is extremely good you can have multiple Decoctions while still chugging down potions, Oils are really good aswell.
Im considering doing a second playthrough of the game really taking my time with it much more slowly and doing every quest and point of interest. definitely going to go alchemy.

Someone please tell me what would you have done or did.

The quest involving Sarah the
Godling

What did you do?
Did you tell the banker the house was forever haunted and Sarah get to live with the Dreamer Corrine in Novigrad? or did you tell the banker a Godling was causing trouble. So Sarah has to go live with Johnny? I think Sarah would be happier living with another one of her kind?

I'm level 20 and I haven't used a point there either. I think a few of my final points might go to oils though, because I use those like crazy.

Won both times I got to play, was interrupted the second time with the fight before i could play the third opponent.

I did it the other way. Was pretty happy with the resolution that way. Worth following up on the nearby message board for postings after you complete the quest, if you take it that direction.

This game is far too big for me any tips ? Only rpgs I play is fallout .

Tips for what? Narrowing the content down? Don't pay attention to the question marks on your map. You can even turn them off entirely, if you like. The quest log indicates which are required for story progression. Main story quests give oodles of XP, so you don't have to grind sidequests just to keep up. If you just want a fast, enjoyable playthrough, then focus on those, and only do those sidequests you find immediately captivating.

Finished the Carnal Sins quest and found something afterward that kinda shocked me
just strolling through Novigrad...about 10 hours after completing it, and there's another dead body??? Wtf. Does it ever get truly resolved?

I assume it stops if you kill the right person. Who'd you kill?

I did put some points in the poisonous oil skill at the start of the game. Being level 3-4 on death march, any shitty drowner could take me down so this helped speed up combats. I'm still benefitting from it dozens of hours later as poison can help a lot.

I think Shouta made an alchemy build and it can apparently be pretty badass. If it's anything like W2, the key is to raise your toxicity to become a force of nature.

To be honest, I'm improvising when it comes to spending points (I've fully maxed the first two rows of Quen and Axii) but I figure I'll respec at some point.

How did that quest end for you?

Sorry should have been more specific .
Thanks for the tips

Yep, have a question?

Oh!
Letho's quest has to be done before Kaer Morhen! That explains why I couldn't find his quest later on after beating the game.

Heard that even after you beat the quest, the ritual murders still continued on.

Wonder if that was true?

FYI, starting the "Ugly Baby" quest fails the "Following The Thread" quest.

I understand why now, but there's no indication of that before advancing in Ugly Baby.

I came back awhile later to the house, got a scene with the
godling
and the lady

was a happy ending.

Man this game is beautiful. So glad I purchased a new 27" IPS monitor for it. The part in
Skellige where you and Yennifer use the mask - amazing, even the cutscenes.
And then the sun rose and all of the colors became vibrant. CDPR has to be the best developer out there from a technical perspective. This game looks better than even The Order: 1886, and that game is drop-dead gorgeous.

That was the one I was so pleased with! It's nice to see such positive resolutions, they're sort of infrequent in this game.
I mean, sucks for the banker, but at least all he lost was his investment.

Well, shit. I'm actually really pissed off now.
Spoilers about correct identification:
If you question Nathaniel, you'll find that he doesn't actually murder anyone, and he says that the murderer must be the only other person who knows that he does his sick torture...So since you killed the wrong dude, you actually let the murderer get away. Kind of cool that it actually allows that to happen actually.
Damn. I'm going to be way over leveled then. I'm level 19 and I haven't even been to Skellige yet.
Yup. I was level 18 when I entered the island. Way overleveld for quite a few things here.

How did you guys manage to kill the wrong person, didn't you at least question him before pulling out your sword and trying to murder the guy?

I ran in there and chopped his head off. He had that rod right next to that girl, I wasn't gonna let him lay a finger on her.

In trying to save one girl you ensured that more girls would be murdered.
I understand playing with some directness, but that was essentially a detective mission. Not a "hack=slash-ask-questions-later" mission.
