Posted this yesterday.

Something is really annoying me. The texture hiccups in Novigrad are getting pretty ridiculous...so bad.

Some things are taking a bit longer to load such as press "A" to talk icon...it isn't responsive and sometimes takes about 10 seconds before the icon appears. Along with that, sometimes the characters take about 5-10 seconds to load in some areas.

Even some of the close up textures are blurred out for a good 1 second...I'm playing the X1 version, and this is mainly happening in Novigrad. The thing that's odd is that it wasn't happening a few days ago.

Here's a quick 10 second video of what I mean. Take a look at the bridge I'm standing on.

https://xboxdvr.com/gamer/aDRE ONE/video/2601403

This is happening pretty frequently. Can someone tell me what's happening and if I can fix this?

Really enjoying my time with the game, so far. I think I have spent more time exploring and doing secondary quests, by far, than main story stuff. I started pretty slow last Tuesday/Wednesday only playing at most, maybe an hour each day. Then on Thursday night, it grabbed me hard. I probably played at least 25 hours over the three day weekend.

For the completed items like guarded treasures and monster nests, do they change at all after they've been recovered/destroyed? I feel like this might be another game I go for the platinum trophy because I'll probably play through at least once more on the hardest difficulty. I don't really want to deal with going back to the same places multiple times.

I fucking hate how this game doesn't tell you what quests are critical, I mean some things are spoilery to the quest path, but I have failed quests for doing this out of order or things even more innocent.

Early game I first got into velen at low level, I got a quest twice my level and was literally said along the lines of "See what the guy wants", I did and didn't accept anything yet, so I decided I'll come back later, failed the quest by going out of proximity.

Doing things out of order fucked me frequently on more than 8 quest now I've had to reload, and now because I haven't done things in a right order in Novigrad, I might miss out on a huge character choice/development on a side character and this time I can't reload because this is hours built up.

Just go with the flow, bro. You're not gonna see everything in one go, regardless of what you do. Don't stress out or get mad about it.

It's better that way.

Initial impressions - the camera movement issue where moving between speeds is still present, unfortunately. Frame pacing seems a little better but will need more time.

Never had an issue with the camera, but frame pacing when on horseback and even on foot in many areas was horrible.

Thank you for the update.

About the quest on Skellige with the man hearing voices from the gods:
At one point, as part of a ruse you are told to pretend throw a baby into an oven. If you do this, the guards try to kill you. After killing the guards, it is revealed that you didn't actually throw the baby into the oven. The quest I completed and all is well......except for the guards that were murdered as part of the ruse.....

Wait, what is that that says Witcher on the controller? a sticker?

Im right now still on White Orchard taking the game on my pace, as I dont want this game to ever finish, so I did a bit of looking around the other part of the world that Im going to, and Holy Sh***************************************** this game huge

Duuuude, just wait. I got side tracked for 3 hours playing gwent missions and picked up like 30 side quests and contracts in the process of going to different towns. My back log is huge.

Okay. I don't understand the "Devil By the Well" side quest, where I'm looking for evidence of the woman's existence, yet I have found her armband and such. There's also nothing down in the well.

- How do I turn on my torch?

And if I leave White Orchard, will I miss out on side quests and contracts?

About an ending
Is it possible to get Triss to go to Kaer Morhen, but you don't romance her? Cause it seems you only have the option to romance with her or make her leave in "Now or Never"

Yes. I didn't tell her to stay and she still ends up there.

It's not about going with the flow, I can always reload even though I don't like savescum bullshit, it's the fact that I'm not missing something because of a decision I made, but because I choose to explore in different order than what's intended, and nothing else, I loose out on potential time money xp, and in this case
maybe even a fucking character.

I mean it's too late to do anything now, but is it really that hard for the other less spoilerly quest to just have a red quest marker meaning if you accept it, it's critical and you must do it now.

All in all enjoying the game, but having to go through load times over and over again because of this stuff is grody.

I feel what could be game's greatest accomplishment and what really defines its identity is its classic novella approach approach to many side quests, narrative driven within the scope of a freely playable open world ARPG. Quests almost if not always discard traditional video game structuring and instead adopt the idea of short story literature, where our story begins with an unfortunate predicament or even the protagonist doing something routine, which then leads to a story often different from how it began. The latter path is especially wonderful in the context of a video game where game systems and objectives are typically predictable, the best examples here being when you embark on (either willingly or accidentally) a monster contract, because that's what Witchers do, and that develops in unexpected ways or leads into a new quest arc that has nothing to do with the original contract.

As a fantasy ARPG the success of this presentation and quest structuring goes a long way to making the journey memorable, as it prevents you from picking up quests just because you want to rise through the ranks of some guild, acquire some item, grind XP, or work towards some unlock or bonus. Playing Wild Hunt is like having a tomb of short stories you're accidentally stumbling upon.
This. The best RPGs are the ones where the developer and player work together to make their own unique story. This is the strength of the open world genre where you can explore and come across unexpected encounters that make the world feel alive while the players forge their own path. Everywhere you turn in Witcher 3, there's something interesting going on that a witcher might want to get involved in... or not as the witcher sees fit.

Anyone have some links to some good combat tutorial videos? I get my ass beat in almost every fight I'm in.
I think I'm going to record a combat tutorial tonight and post that. For now, here are some tips:
- Prepare: Know your enemy's strengths and weaknesses and how to exploit them (read your bestiary). A witcher's greatest tool is his knowledge. Have the right oils on your weapons. Potions are good to have prepared. Get the right bombs equipped. Know how the enemy moves so that you can dodge at the right times in the right directions and time your swings.
- Opening: Use Quen out of combat since your stamina regens almost instantly. If multiple enemies, you might consider opening with a blinding/freezing bomb so that you have a good 3-8 seconds to take out at least one enemy. You can even open with Igni or Aard to crowd control (CC) a bunch of them as they're bunched together.
- Measured swings: Don't spam your attack (unless you are very certain that enemies can't interrupt, such as in 1vs1 or a wraith trapped in your Yrden). Do 1-3 swings and get out and set up the next combo. Be especially ready to stop swinging and dodge against multiple enemies.
- Defence: Many people like to spam Quen because it makes them feel safe. This is fine but what's better is to master dodging and rolling which allows you to use your stamina for offensive signs that actually make for a better defence since you CC multiple enemies rather than just absorbing one hit from one enemy, giving you a clear opening to trim the enemy's numbers down making the rest of the fight easier and faster. Although it seems obvious but dodge away or past attacks, not into them. In 1vs1 or cases where the enemies are spread out, a dodge 45 degrees toward an enemy is optimal since it positions you behind the enemy for a quick critical counter while ensuring that you actually get out of the way. If many enemies are grouped together, dodge backward 45 degrees and counter to keep your distance from the rest. Use rolls to make space, catch your breath, and reposition to, for example, avoid getting surrounded.
- Positioning: Don't get surrounded. This will almost always result in your death or at least taking a really heavy beating while stun locked. Try to keep every enemy in front of you, both for CC purposes (Igni and Aard hit in a frontal cone) and so that they don't get back attacks on you. This also let's you clearly see where every enemy is without having to fight the camera.
- Parry & Counter: These seem mostly useful against human opponents who block your own attacks quite frequently or in situations where your ability to dodge and roll is limited. Parrying/countering staggers the enemy which gives you an opening. You will counter if you time your parry just as the enemy starts attacking, signalled by his health bar glowing red. Monsters are difficult to parry not only because their animations vary so much which screws up your timing but many of their attacks will stagger you through your block, thus I do not recommend parrying monster attacks.

Although this video wasn't intended as a guide, you can see how I've at least been succeeding on Death March with these kinds of approaches. There's an index in the description to skip to the fights:

Is it only the loot pop-up that's increased in size? That's literally something I wasn't worried about at all. Item descriptions in the inventory should be addressed first and foremost.

Had an interesting bug on PC where Geralt wouldn't stop jumping. It continued even after loading the most recent save. Had to close out entirely.

Had that same bug on ps4 last night. Trying to fight a monster atop a broken castle and he just kept jumping. Loaded last save and he was still doing it. Went away though as I got farther from the monster.

Anyone else notice how broken the "time played" stat is? Says I've put in over 100 hours and I've really just started. (Insert GAF joke about how long the game is). But really, thing is badly bugged

tap L1, select torch. R1 to bring it out. R1 to put it away. Same for shooting arrows. Tho that one is just a tap of R1 to shoot automatically, hold to go into 1st person to shoot them and time slows down for a bit.

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
I hoping Triss receives an alt outfit as well, cause I'm "#TeamTriss" all the way.

There are lines in config files for Triss and Ciri alternate outfits, along with Gwent cards. So there's three more of the sixteen.

Did you swim to the bottom of the well? There is an item on the ground under water.

Afterwards you should go back into one of the houses and find a skeleton with a knife in it.

Did
you kill the guy that was torturing the prostitute in the bar without asking him questions? Because I questioned him and he revealed to me that someone else was the murderer.

Yes
and hours later got slapped with the consequences when I found that. Pretty startling.

Awesome, thanks. I assume Steam'll auto download/install these?

Hopefully whenever the Enhanced Edition hits Triss gets a little more screentime in the back half of the game. It was mostly all Yennefer.

- Devil by the Well:
Keep using your Witcher senses in each house. The bracelet/armband was in the well.

- Torch: equip it to one of your two "pocket" slots in the inventory screen. Then open the quick select menu (L1/left-bumper on a controller) and select the torch. Then click R1/right-bumper to use/put-away.

- You can return to White Orchard once you leave.

You can always come back to White Orchard.

If you're on PS4 and use suspend/resume, I believe the suspended time is counted too.

As well several times when I've killed a Rotfiend it's exploding body would bug out and the blood texture will exploded out in those giant jagged spikes all over the screen and just stretch and wig out.
Yes I have this on PC. Seems to be just Rotfiends and their nests. Only happened after 1.04 patch too.

Even thouhgh I have been working 60hrs a week since Witcher 3 came out I've still put nearly 70hrs into the game. I have absolutely no social life at the moment! And every other game I have has been completely ignored.
