I just launched The Witcher 3 on my Xbox One, and the first cutscene really turned me off. Not because of the cutscene itself, but it was really lagging. Is that normal?

Sheesh, just spent thousands making white gull and I still don't have enough.

Oh well, easy come, easy go I guess.

I've been trying to find hornwort, but not having a lot of luck. Googling mostly tells me what it's for, which, lol, that's why I'm trying to find it. Does GAF have any suggestions for finding some?

EDIT, never mind, just found some. Gonna get my superior potion on

Wait... It heals AND absorbs?! I assume it just slowly drains your stamina, right? That seems so OP.

I have lvl 3 active shield and exploding shield. It drains stamina when you are being hit, but you gain vitality. Then release it to stuns enemies so you can hit them and activate the shield again a few seconds later

I just stood there while 5 lvl 22 ghouls are attacking me. lol

And I just killed 2 lvl 31 guards with it. Those bitches hit hard, the shield can only take 1 hit but I gain like 60% hp back instantly.

tap L1, select torch. R1 to bring it out. R1 to put it away. Same for shooting arrows. Tho that one is just a tap of R1 to shoot automatically, hold to go into 1st person to shoot them and time slows down for a bit.

Did you swim to the bottom of the well? There is an item on the ground under water.

Afterwards you should go back into one of the houses and find a skeleton with a knife in it.

- Devil by the Well:
Keep using your Witcher senses in each house. The bracelet/armband was in the well.

- Torch: equip it to one of your two "pocket" slots in the inventory screen. Then open the quick select menu (L1/left-bumper on a controller) and select the torch. Then click R1/right-bumper to use/put-away.

- You can return to White Orchard once you leave.

You can always come back to White Orchard.

Thanks. I'll leave White Orchard when I have completed this side quest. I have used my Witcher sense in all of the houses and already found
her armband in the well and the box at the bottom.

I'm on PC by the way, but I get the idea of using the torch now. Thanks.

[edit] I can't seem to figure out what to do in this side quest. What did I miss? :(

It's normal... Some cutscenes have poor framerate on Xbox One with the current patch.

The game wasn't lagging for me last week. But this week, I've been experiencing some slowdown on the X1...I'm trying to get it fixed.

Here's an example of what I mean:

Here's a quick 10 second video of what I mean. Take a look at the bridge I'm standing on.

I know a lot of people didn't like the goat side quest but I thought it was hilarious.
A Witcher waking around ringing a bell, lol. I also love the attention to detail. If you kill the bear first, when you are leading the goat back Geralt says something different than if you didn't kill the bear.

Fricking love this game.

hot, steaming, as melted butter slips into the cracks, drizzled with sticky sweet syrup OH GOD
As much I love extinguishing and igniting candles nonstop I wish we could get an option to just prioritize the crate 2 pixels away that I want to loot.

Person in distress quest is not fixed, either the cage is empty or the bandit leader doesn't show up. Outcome differs every reload.

Fuck my completion OCD.

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
Also want to add that the work put into the music compositions and recording is outstanding. There are so many variations to suit the context of where you are, the time of day, and what you're doing. Tavern ditties are catchy. Haunting music sticks with you. The choice of Eastern European instruments instruments and vocal additions is a wonderful diversion from the English orchestra so often seen in fantasy games.

It's made great, like so much of the game, by Geralt's commentary. I love that most of the very transparent videogamey quests and objectives have smarmy, bitter commentary from Geralt.

Most open-world RPGs have disappointed me with their soundtracks, but not this game. Fantastic work.

They really really need to invest in some more varied VA for the EE. You hear the same lines over and over again in the same areas, as well as the same voice being used for every merchant.

I don't know how that little kid in White Orchard hasn't strung up by the Black Ones by now.

Yeah, I'm PC too. But I'm using an XBO controller and it's been awesome.

Speaking of PC, can you remap the Steam- overlay screen shot button (F12) to a different key? I'd be nice to just tap (Alt) instead of reach across my keyboard.

I've spent the last 5 hours just running around to places I see on the map, having the map note them, killing enemies there if I'm leveled enough, and moving on to the next. I've probably done almost nothing, lol. But at least I am discovering new fast travel points.

Posted this yesterday.

Something is really annoying me. The texture hiccups in Novigrad are getting pretty ridiculous...so bad.

Some things are taking a bit longer to load such as press "A" to talk icon...it isn't responsive and sometimes takes about 10 seconds before the icon appears. Along with that, sometimes the characters take about 5-10 seconds to load in some areas.

Even some of the close up textures are blurred out for a good 1 second...I'm playing the X1 version, and this is mainly happening in Novigrad. The thing that's odd is that it wasn't happening a few days ago.

Here's a quick 10 second video of what I mean. Take a look at the bridge I'm standing on.

This is happening pretty frequently. Can someone tell me what's happening and if I can fix this?

Same is happening with me on PS4, certain places like Dandelion's Inn and such I have to stand around literally waiting for characters to load in. It's getting silly, don't recall this to begin with

So doing the quest with Kiera, I took off to repair and sell stuff after beating the
wild hunt boss.
she had asked me to keep going but I left. Got a quest failed but them a new one popped up. So, I met her at her place and do dinner and all that. After we
meet at the island things go bad and I kill her.
Well, back in the cavern is a door with magic writing and a place of power. Problem is, I can't open it. I assume had I stayed with her I would have gotten in but that is not an option now, obviously. Am I screwed? Ive tried everything to get in that door.

Well, just as in real life,
sleeping with another person is frowned upon by other potential life partners.

hmmm... i guess i'll stick it out. Just like with Persona 4. lol. That Feb 14 wrecked me.

Also..
what if i went through with it, but ended up killing her? will someone know? because i went right after i woke up from the dinner.
O_O

How much does the CE Strategy Guide add to the game? I just ordered it and I can't wait to check it out. I'm not sure exactly how long I've been playing, maybe 15 hours or so, just got to Novigrad last night to
meet Triss
. I'm sure I've missed a ton of stuff...

If I remember correctly,
going all the way through the cavern with Keira opens up her personal side quest thread and you find a magic lantern
. Maybe leaving the cave early bugged your quest progress? Did Keira
ask you to go to a cursed island and give a special lamp?

Yeah, Steam>Settings>In-Game.

Ehh, Keira's quest's dungeon part goes for far too long. Just
closed the rifts
though so hopefully I'm soon out of here.

there's a trick to open that door if i remember correctly..but i don't know if you can do it outside of the appropriate quest

you have to activate the statues in a certain order..fact is..the order was given by a riddle,a riddle that kiera gives you...

just search for a walkthrough and try to input the code and see if it works
