I love CDPR's attention to even the most minute details. If you happened to visit Fyke Island before getting the quest for it, when you get the quest and are told that not many people have been there and survived, Geralt slips in, "I have."

Such a gorgeous game.

Trying to do grey sidequests cause of the XP bug (don't think I've got it) and all that and trying to get to like level 23 for Superior Griffin Armour. Sorry, maybe next game I'll do a sword/potion build with Bear armour because I have to admit that looks badass as hell. I wish Griffin Armour didn't make Geralt look fat as hell, but I can't give up the buffs the set gives for signs.

I kinda wish CDPR put in set bonuses for the witcher sets to see how people would trade off keeping the whole set together between upgrade tiers or mixing and matching off-set pieces. I guess that's sort of what the cat/griffin/bear perks are there for in a sense though.

Hah! Is that so? I haven't read the books so I'm no where near up to speed on the lore. Think I might need to look into that.
Witcher neutrality is something that is mentioned a few times.
You also hear a lot about their supposed lack of emotions. Basically, you should never trust anything people are lead to believe about the witchers. That includes the things the witchers are taught to believe about themselves, because if there's one thing those guys love, it's self-deprecation.
The games probably should make this clearer, because we're taught to believe our protagonists, causing many players to develop a poor understanding of what really makes Geralt tick. Which is a shame, because his insecurities and self-delusions are some of his most endearing traits.

So the "fix" for xp bug is in theory clearing the gray quests? Because to be fair I do have at least one in there since its in Skellige and i haven't been there yet

It's not really a fix, more that grey quests don't give you XP anyway so there's no harm in doing them.

I love this game, im still a lowly level 6 , exploring every inch of Velen when i just found this island (no quest yet), its so mysterious and coming to the island in a small sail boat feels amazing.

I am so glad its not fenced off until a quest is required e.t.c, ive explored so many areas of Velen, many i have to turn around due to the monsters, but just getting there and exploring feels awesome.

As someone who normally cant get into rpgs, this is the best game i have ever played . Exploration is amazing, i am about 20 hours in and barely even scratched the surface.

Yeah I've been clearing the Velen ones but if this fixes the bug I'll clear the Skellige one also

Yea, I really liked that about Fyke. The conversation just seemed natural.

And if you're taking your time on normal or greater difficulty, you easily have another 40 hours ahead of you.

Kind of confused about a quest called Ghosts of the Past which is about
Letho
, which takes place during a quest called The Fall of the house Reardon. I completed that quest ages ago, but never even saw anything about ghosts of the past. I just saw it is a missable quest too, so am I screwed out of doing this if I already finished Reardon? I downloaded the save file from the original OT, which I thought would allow me to do this quest.

You sure you downloaded the right save file because...
You get sent to do the House Reardon quest and Letho has already taken care of it and is hiding out inside. Its impossible to miss him.

yeah, that definitely didnt happen for me. As the poster above said, I guess I got it before the OP fixed it. This fucking sucks. Might just start completely over

Well shit, that sucks.
I guess that the default game world doesn't have Letho alive.

I really screwed myself with the default world state.

So I just beat the game, my ending was a bit bittersweet.
Ciri became empress however she had to say goodbye to Geralt. Geralt lived a peaceful life with Yen and Nilfguard continued to prosper.
What ending you guys got?

Didn't you get the interview thing at the start of the game after leaving the starter zone?

Anyone noticed some of your mutagens going missing from your inventory/character screen?

I'm thinking if you get over 30... the last ones you got a just deleted... I definitely had a Werewolf/Griffin/Wyvern (multiple in fact) mutagen, but now... 30 exactly, and none of those ones are in there...?

You can't use the named mutagens in crafting as far as I know, so I didn't meld them to make a better Red one (but I would love to).

Edit: Made decoctions, forgot that uses up mutagens :p - my bad (thanks to sidkid on reddit for the heads up!).

Novigrad at night is something special. I'm also so good at swordplay now I don't think a pack of ten even-leveled non-boss enemies could hit me more than once. I even dodge and take out packs of high level drowner-things like a champ now.

Does anyone else think Skellige is a significantly better designed world than Velen/Novigrad? There's more verticality, a greater sense of space and locale, it even runs better.

Somewhat done with
Novigrad
and finished up Triss' story. Moved on to
Skellige
, just did the first story quest there, but really disliking what a simp Gerald is around Yennefer.

i'm team yennefer all the way but yeah his attitude around her is jarring lol, completely different character.

Something I've been meaning to ask, did they change Triss's voice actress? She sounds much younger than I remember from previous games

Between the bleed effect and Igni burning I can pretty much do a fuckig square dance while tough monsters slowly die. Dodge, attack, burn, boogie.

Finally got to Skellige at lvl17. Headed to meet yennefer and the 1st thing I did was loot a crate and get spotted by a lvl31 guard.

Tough fight but managed to win with a sliver of health left.

One hasn't lived until they have bested a few level 43 guards at level 30. Took forever but damn if I didn't own 'em.

I used them as training dummies to try different builds - the three guards in the square in front of the store that sells the respec potion. They're not that hard once you learn how to dodge properly.

Question for people who have finished the game:
I'm on the Isle of Mists quest as well as the brothers in arms quests. How far am I through the main story and can I keep playing once I complete the main quest?

bender

What time is it?
So the game just erased 60k crowns from my inventory. I guess there is an in game cap and if you go over your money gets erased the next time a save is loaded. I think I'm done with this game. :(

edit: Checked my saves and I'd need to roll back 2 days get the money back, no thanks. I can't take anymore of this unpolished game.

Just slightly less than 2/3rds, and yes you can

Nah, but I do see it as a very welcome change. Velen is suitably bleak and miserable the further south you go. It's flatter, yes, but I think that's a topographical necessity given CDPR pay attention to mostly realistic scale and land layout. Just wouldn't make sense for it to have a ton of mountains or what Skellige is like integrated into the same map.

I think that's one of the game's greatest strengths actually; topographical and ecosystem diversity, yet realistic blending of these and distinct separation where necessary. What I love about Skellige is it doesn't just feel like they took Velen/Novigrad assets and dumped them into a new map that just so happens to be mountainous with snow. The Skellige forest is different from forests on the prior map. Its shorelines are different. Different towns. Different colour palette in the foliage.

Where Velen is often wild, it's also ravaged by monsters, war, and people. Skellige's wild comes across more as unspoiled and naturally beautiful. It's a great difference.

Letho spoilers and Radovid spoilers follow:

Why did so many people let Letho live in Witcher 2? Secondly, given that the Witcher 2 made such a big deal about Witchers not supposing to operate as assassins, did anybody else thing long and hard about taking on the Radovid mission?

I don't remember very well, it's been a good couple of years since I played Witcher 2 but
I think I felt sympathy towards him at the end, when you have that talk. He wasn't a bad guy, he was just used, same as Geralt was in the second game. Plus I quite like his character. He's a badass. I especially liked him in W3.

He came from an understandable place in trying to revive the Witcher school, and he took care of Yen when Geralt was with the hunt. He didn't seem like that bad of a dude, and I felt like Geralt wouldn't be spiteful enough to kill him.

Yep.
I was ready to kill him after hearing the whole story I just wanted to ask him to come looking for Yen with me. Best bro.

Alternate Yrden and Quen makes it pretty easy.

You weren't kidding about this. Beat her at level 5 and she never even laid a finger on me. The best part of alternate Yrden is that the shocks kill all the little clones for you and she never gets to heal.

I have all the ingredients for the Viper swords except the Emerald Dusts. Is it still worth it to make them at my level (level 5, just about to start the Baron's questline) and where can I either find some Dust or find enough things to sell to buy the Dusts?

Oh Dijkstra, you glorious bastard. Endgame spoilers:
I don't know what I was expecting. But at least you went down fighting.

His heart was in the right place but one has to know when they're achieved a step towards victory and when they're merely grasping beyond their means. And of course I couldn't let him murder his honorable comrades just to have a shot at taking down the last king.

This game. There will never be one greater.

Alright I think my game bugged. Profound sadness.

I'm doing the Count Rueven's treasure quest and I left Bart and went back up to the entrance of the Bathhouse. Now that path is closed, the quest dialogue points me to talk to
Dijkstra
in the office, but I can't re-initiate the quest.

I even tried to get smart with it, and followed the sewer path back to the poisonous canals, and used potions to stave off the effects, and have a body to examine but nothing happens. Anyone have this issue? Damn.
