Had a bit of fun with the freecam and Topaz Simplify plugin in Photoshop.

Thought I'd share a couple;

Only sunk around 15 hours into the game thus far, been bloody busy. Loving every second.

Has anyone had bugs where they can't interact with certain NPCs/merchants?

I've lauded the Alchemist north-east of Novigrad relentlessly, and the fact that he buys things for full price – but now I can't interact with him at all. I go into his room, he's standing there, and he's got the word 'Alchemist' above his head in blue type. But the 'interact' and button prompt never appears. He just stands there, doing nothing.

I don't think I need his full-price buying services much anymore, but there are a few things he sold which I could really use.

Ehh..Of course it looks better on PC but those screens I posted on the last page are from the PS4 version. It would still be a ridiculous comment to say this game looks last gen even when talking about console versions.

People have very short memories.

Through their rose-tinted glasses, many may happily compare TW3's graphics to a last-gen game. The only thing that would jolt them into reality would be 1:1 shots with similar last-gen games like Dragon's Dogma or Skyrim. This is when the jump in fidelity becomes really clear.

I played a minimum of 100 hours (ingame counter says 190) and completed it. I intentionally played only some of the sidequests and didn't explore every inch,
so that I can go for a 100% next year when the two expansions are both released. On the other hand I have to read the books and replay the previous two games.

I had that as well, I just mediated to the next morning and it worked. If he isn't there then you have to leave the area and come back for him to respawn.

Very near the end of this game, starting to get the feeling that nothing else this year is going to come close to how good this game really is. I enjoyed the Order and it didn't deserve the flack, Bloodbourne was a great romp and had a good time.. but the Witcher has really managed to scratch my gaming itch.

Might need a break as I know I am going to be a bit underwhelmed by anything else.

I feel the same, and I'm not even anywhere near the end of the game.

I've been looking forward to Batman: Arkham Knight for years, but even that looks like it'll pale in comparison to The Witcher's offering. Recent previews aren't promising either, suggesting that it'll be a solid superhero adventure, but nowhere near a classic like Arkham Asylum (and by de facto, TW3).

However, I do think The Phantom Pain could be a big rival to TW3's throne. The few preview words we've heard (official articles will release on the weekend, 6 June embargo) say that the amount of content in one main mission is staggering. Like 10 hours to do one mission, in a huge area filled with secrets, side missions, and dynamic events. Kojima himself said he worries it will be 'too long', like upwards of 150 hours, which is similar to TW3 (Kojima said 200 hours verbatim).

I see TW3 and TPP being the behemoths of this year. I adore Bloodborne for what it is, but it just can't quite match this. Also Dying Light is up there for me. I love that game. A competitor on fun factor alone, even if it can't match the giddying ambition of TW3 and (probably) TPP.

I had that as well, I just mediated to the next morning and it worked. If he isn't there then you have to leave the area and come back for him to respawn.

Cool, thanks, will try.

Holy shit! Ciri's "winter clothes" are such a stupid design, I can't quite believe what I just saw.
It would've been a pretty good visual punchline, but I'm not sure if the devs ever realized that they were making the joke. Plus, it's kind of a sad joke anyway.

Few notes on different quests in the Velen area that I've done while level 10 and entering Oxenfurt the first time.

1)
The Rock Troll quest is one of my favorite short quests I've seen so far. His boats guard boats theory had me rolling lol.

2) I had my first encounter with an ?? enemy.
After finishing the troll quest, I noticed a "cocatrice" flying. Then comes down, and I see its a Basilisk. Cool! Gets some hits, Dodge some, block one with Quen. It Flys away for a second. Then I see it. I notice it's level is ?? and high tailed it out of there.

3) Bloody Baron quest
is all kinds of fucked up. Been meaning to tell the girlfriend about it considering she thought the "wife is murdered, turns out wife's sister led wife to werewolf husband so husband would love wife's sister" was insanely messed up.

Small question: how do you get rotfiends in your bestiary? Do you need to kill them in a certain way so that they don't explode on their own or something? I killed like 20 of those hard hitting ass**** and they still didn't show up.

Gotta get lucky. Knock them down with Aard and groundstab. Or, if you watch, their health decreases as they prepare to blow. Igni at the right time and you'll get it.

to those worried about the xp bug and the gray quest fix floating around:

I went ahead and cleared my gray quests (well, the ones with a gray level requirement, the ones with no level like the gwent and cards you cant do fuck all about them, but for now lets assume the fix only concerns ones with level requirement), only had two anyway, and lo and behold, the next quest I did to try (a green lvl 14 quest, im lvl 19) DID give me xp. Gave fuck all, only 25xp, but like I said im 19 and the quest was 14. But hey, it gave xp so you might want to try to clear your gray quest and then try to do a quest, see if it works.

Ill report back later on more quests, see if it indeed fixed anything or it was just a coincidence. Oh and also I can confirm contracts are unaffected by the bug, as I did 3 of them even before I cleared the gray quests and they all give xp.

Also it seems big story moments give xp anyway, as I got almost a full level from going to skellige. Its a weird ass bug that xp thing is

I've been playing the game like normal in the last two weeks and still getting plenty of XP from plenty of quests. Is there any specific criteria on which the bug starts affecting people?

It's also worth mentioning that CDPR said the bug doesn't affect the game's balancing in any meaningful way, so surely they're aware of it and it only affects some quests?

The first time I heard about Ciri was at the town lake in Witcher 3 from an innkeeper. Man, the story as dark, poor girl.

Man nearly OT3 soon. I can't believe how much XP you get from some of the later quests. Level 24 to 30 in a few hours. I was looking forward to going through the Superior gear and weapons but now there is no point since I can jump from Enhanced straight to Mastered.

Man, this game, though... I didn't have as much time this weekend as I would've liked and I feel like I've gotten nowhere in what little time I have had. Like I played 6-9PM after work yesterday and I felt like I got nothing done. One or two minor side quests, went to a ball, put on a theatre performance and then I had to stop playing. This is both good and bad! On one hand, amazing how much content it offers. On the other, damn it, I want to make some actual progress too!

Also, the the look of "look at me, I managed to deliver my line!" proudness on Geralt's face during the show. LOL

New to the witcher universe,
What terrible deeds has Philipa has done. I beat the game but ever since I met her, I could never trust her lol

Witcher 2 spoilers
She's a pretty shady character, always up to something. The main thing is she tricked you in the last game into entrancing the leader of a humble (relatively) uprising for a free realm for non-humans in order to gain strategic leverage to form a new nation headed by her and the lodge of sorceresses. It doesn't go too well

A lot of scheming really (key person behind the regicides and trying to revive the lodge), according to Radovid you'll hear that she was some sort of demon raising him. You never really here the truth of it though, so Radovid just kinda comes spoilt kid when he tells you about it

does anyone know how to get this ? point? as you can see its my last one in velen (assuming new boards dont open up later >_>)

its basically up a mountain with a tree on top. map makes it look like theres a road up there but there isnt and I cant manage to climb up I always slide down

You can get up there before the quest that takes you to the tree, but you have to work your way around from the west side of the mountain - there's a few fairly high level foglets and such, but they're pretty easy to avoid. Also, a little tip for climbing - if you start to slide, hammer the roll button to interrupt your descent.

Uh.. what? Why did I fail the Gangs of Novigrad quest? Told me to speak to Cleaver... and then it failed soon after.

Failed for me when I sorted out
whoreson
.

Read the quest details.

Basically, in Gangs of Novigrad you're helping Cleaver
kill/depose Whoreson Jr
. So, if you do this separately in another quest, you've rendered Cleaver's request redundant. You can no longer help him do this, so the quest is a non-started and it's marked as 'failed'.

Intricate game. I was a bit miffed when this happened, too, but decided to roll with it. I'll do Gangs of Novigrad on another playthrough.

Probably because of other quests you did, I left it for ages then it failed for me too

It's basically an alternative to doing the main quest portion concerning Whoreson, but for some reason they made it a missable side quest.

For a bit more specifics;

Gangs of Novigrad you go in killing Whoreson's henchman at different spots until you get to him, where as if you follow the main quest you infiltrate those different spots by doing things like fighting in the arena, playing Gwent, etc.

I wonder if the method chosen - eg Cleaver or Radovid - affects the broader politics between you and Radovid, and if it locks out the quest to find
Philippa Eilhart
?

I think I'll wait until No XP bug is fixed. Have played about 2 to 3 main quest and about 5 side quests and haven't gotten any XP :/ Currently standing at Level 18 and it hardly moved.

I finally made it to Skellige. Gorgeous place, gorgeous music. Expected a more epic trip over there considering the comparisons to entering Mexico in RDR, it ended up being a time-skip situation.

I haven't spent too much time with her yet, but so far I think Yen has more personality in one finger than all of Triss. Speaking of that...

I hope me kissing Triss won't upset her too much...

Game has the weirdest bugs, died then came back and Geralt kept jumping by himself without me even doing anything. Reloading a save did nothing had to quit the game.

Just arrived to Novigrad yesterday, I thought I would waste hours in this city just going into each buildings, looting chest and barrels, but turns out most of the doors are locked. Felt a bit relieved.

I had no idea you could
fail quests in this game. I wrapped up the Novigrad gangs quest line and failed the Cleaver quest. Now it will stain my quest log forevers.

Ok, so I've never played a Witcher game before and.. man this game is awesome! And this thread title is amazing, haha.

Anyone else want to profess their undying love to Lambert? This whiny prick is the best guy ever.

Warning, spoiler about Lambert and mid-game content:

When we were
in Kaer Morhen doing the Last Trial quest and I tell him 'You're pricklier than Yen' and he answers 'Don't fall in love with me'...
too late man, already head over heels.

Yeah, Lambert is great, typical guy who is annoying as fuck when he opens his mouth but will be ready to jump in front of an enhanced grapeshot for you.

But really, all of those Characters just ooze personality ... even Triss
to whom I said I loved her just to get laid, but later read about the consequences in connection to Yen :(

Just finished bloody baron and definitely did not get any XP. Well now... I guess I shall wait for the patch!

Side quests still give out XP, that's what i've been doing in the meantime, it's been nice just wandering around picking up Witcher jobs here and there and finding new armour plans!

Hello all,

I bought this on Sunday but heard about the XP glitch for PS4, is the patch meant to be today/tomorrow? Just planning if I should wait before diving in.

Without too many spoilers, can anyone tell me if anything significant happens in Crow's Perch after the Baron questline? I've gone back twice, and both times I found the
Baron's men harrasing the towns people
so I ended up killing them. I also already beat the
Sergeant
in a fistfight.

I would just like to know if anything else happens, and if there will be repercussions for stopping what they were doing.

In terms of percentage of the game content in total (main / side and extras) how do the areas stack up?

Is Velen the largest in terms of game content?, or are Velen and Skellige about the same?
