You know that feeling when a game is really special? The Witcher 3 is really a new standard for videogames in general. Can't wait to see it's inclusion in many "best game of all-time" threads and polls in the future.

This fucking game, guys. We should treasure this moment. Five years from now, we'll be wishing we could erase our memories and experience it again.

Came to post something similar to this.

I love this game. Just finished the main story and it blew away my expectations.

I need to sit back and cherish this moment in time with such an amazing game. This game just does it all for me.

I'm only 8 hours in, but I'm feeling the same way. I haven't played a game this fun in a long time. If it keeps this up it won't only be game of the gen but one of my favs of all time.

Holy shit "Last Wish" quest spoilers
they really make you feel like an ass for taking the Triss path. I gotta admit I felt pretty bad :(

Yennefer: "What? I still feel the same. You should too? What does this mean?"
Geralt: "It means you got your wish Yen"

The facial expression here was amazing. I could see the heartbreak in Yen's eyes.

If I put an upgrade on a socketed item, can I remove it afterwardS?

you mean the runes with the various +3%/5% on signs and so on?
in that case you have 2 option..remove the rune ,but then it gets destroyed,or dismantle the item and get back the materials, including any rune attached

A question regarding Triss: you need to say
you love her in order to send her to the fortress?
I hope it's not the case, but I read a couple of guides and both say the same thing.

If you want romance, then yes. But she comes to Kaer Morhen either way.

I think the
choice between Yennefer and Triss
is botchy. We can romance
Triss
at Novigrad and apparently the choice between the two is decided here. But for people who didn't read books, we don't know
Yennefer
, her personnality and her behaviour toward Geralt. I like
Triss
but I hesitate to romance her because I may regret it after I'll know
Yennefer
better.

yeah i suppose you need to have sex with her to get her to kaer morhen..that means you have to use either the "i love you" or "let's try it again" options i suppose.

Nope, I want to
romance Yen
, but I want to
fight with Triss in the fortress too, recruiting all allies.

Some guides say
if you don't say you love her, she'll left and won't return.

Now I don't know what to do :S

Nah, it's fine as long as you finish the quest.
Yennefer will invite Triss and she'll teleport there.

Many guides seem to be written by people who haven't actually played through all the options.

I'm now cleaning up POI's in Velen and discovered a few places I couldn't access because of ties to story progress. Out of all minor annoyances, controlling Roach is the most persistent one.

Still having a blast, still the best RPG I played. Feels good to play a game I didn't finish before first patches and updates were even released.

Yep, in fact I read the books and I know
what Triss did, betraying Geralt and also having sex with Philippa. I can't really side with her. But I can figure a person that didn't play W1 and W2 and didn't read the books will randomly decide between Yen or Triss or worst, trying all of them because there's literally zero background provided her for both of them.
Which book was this?

I'm the only one pissed of that the witch hunt is in this game even if in your save from witcher 2 it didn't begin at all?

How do I get new trophies? I came across a dragon
same as the one that I fought as ciri in a Baron quest cutscene
. I also just took out the antler beast that spawns when you
attack the Crones with the Baron
... What gives, do I need to do more than just loot the corpse?

My Roach is an asshole. Sometimes he blocks conversation scenes, sometimes his pathing gets him stuck when I whistle, and he controls more tank like than Geralt (and I got stuck on stairs for like 3 minutes due to Geralt's tankiness).

My GF was playing last night and, during a main story quest, instead of seeing the person Geralt was talking to, all we could see was Roach's butt.

Best 'live background audience' experience from my playtime was when I finished a quest for someone in a town, and while they were giving their 'You saved the town, thank you!' line, a horde of wraiths hovered by mere meters away in the background.

You only get trophies from monsters you kill on Witcher contracts.

The feeling of finding an awesome relic sword with three rune slots...so good.

Is there any reason to hold onto any equipment, other than your witcher gear and starting outfit? I feel so hesitant to get rid of these relics. They belong in a museum :(

I've begun selling my stuff like this to merchants. It's sad to do, especially with Relics, but I don't think I'll miss them 10-20 hours down the line. And they may still be there if I ever want them back.

The alternative is to find a place near a fast travel sign and drop them all. Should stay there forever. I've got a personal library in Reardon Manor which has stayed there in a little sack for about 10 hours of gametime.

Can someone please answer me this question. Is there a way to store items without having to sell them?

See above

Ok i didn't know that, thanks. But I read
Yennefer cheated on Geralt
, so Yennefer can be reprimanded too, no ?

I dont know where the rumor of holding onto your witcher gear came from
What rumor? There's a hint pop-up early in the game that strongly suggests that you should hold onto your witcher gear.

If you mean the starter gear, it's probably because its inventory icon has the appearance of a set item.

Yeah, that annoyed me too.
It's clearly one of these things where they didn't want to manage the complexity a different world state brought along so they adjusted the story offscreen so that the game began with a single world state. They did the same thing with Henselt's death: no matter what happens in W2, he's dead by the time 3 begins.

To be fair, I can understand these design choices as not having an ongoing witch hunt would drastically change the world. They could have addressed it better though (ie more dialog that explains it).

There was a Kotaku starting guide that told people to hang onto their starting gear because it could be used in later upgrades.

Edit: they clarified what they meant with a note but at first, everyone understood "wolf school gear":

Keep Your Witcher Gear Around

Speaking of that, even if you find a better piece of equipment than the custom Witcher gear you’re carrying, don’t get rid of the Witcher stuff. You’ll need that gear as a component for the higher-level upgraded versions you can craft down the road. (Note: Don’t sweat the stuff you start out with. You might as well hang on to the armor, but you’ll craft better Witcher swords once you do the first “Griffon” treasure hunt.)

Yes, Yen cheated several times on Geralt, but initially they weren't...so close. I mean, they just used to have sex together, while Geralt stipulated a pact with a djinn or something like this to save Yen's life. Than they join and separate several times, but only near the end they become really close. Man, Geralt even went with an underage girl, can't forget that :l
It's not like fidelity is a real thing in Witcher's world.

Ok thanks :)
I think I'll choose Yennefer, while I like Triss too :(

I think I have hit a speedbump

im only probably midway through or 3/4 through the main storyline in novigrad/velen and fatigue is setting in. The expansiveness of the world is eye inspiring when you first start but is tiring as things become far too drawn out.

You could focus just on the main story quests and finish in half the time - but it might be tougher towards the end, and many of the story beats won't wrap up as well.

Right,

So I DON'T need to keep books / scrolls I've already read, and that aren't in the quest items section, and I DON'T need to keep my starting Witcher gear?

That'll free up my inventory somewhat

Novigrad fatigue is real; the city is just too large with too little free exploration, too many errand quests and too many cutscenes that play too often. There's little exploration, combat or detective work. Just push through it and get to Skellige and you should feel reinvigorated.

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
AFAIK the only gear that can be appropriately upgraded are the Witcher gear classes of Feline, Griffon, and Ursine. And all three start by finding crafting manuscripts, not the gear themselves. Thus you can never technically "lose" them as you can just craft more.

Shame there's not more schools. Wolf and Viper should have been in. I think maybe that's one of the weaker balances of the game; found armour versus witcher gear. Some late game craft/found armour is amazing if you're speccing a certain way, but the witcher gear is so fucking good it's hard to draw away from. Once I started on the feline path I more or less ignored all gear and weapons, because what I was working towards fit my play style and always seemed the best around.

I would have reduced the amount of "different" gear that can be found in chests, and instead focus more on upgrading that gear, witcher school based or not. So that you could chose to go down upgrade paths for other gear, and there was growth there too, and you weren't necessarily funnelled towards using witcher gear as the best stuff.

In short: the adventure and culmination of acquiring crafting manuscripts for witcher gear and upgrading said gear is more satisfying and rewarding than standard gear drops and crafting, and the fact there's only three "schools" to craft bottlenecks the progression a bit.

I'm a bit surprised there's no way to upgrade the starting gear (lupine set), considering that it's featured on all the promo materials, and people seem to like the design so much. A DLC maybe?

Where can I get the Enhanced Cat trousers diagram? I don't seem to be able to find the map for it anywhere.

There is a building in the southeast part of the bigger Oxenfurt island (the more northern section), looks like a church sort of, go into the basement and use your witcher senses.

I'd love it, if they managed to keep the Kaer Mohren style. My gripe with the Witcher upgrades is that as they progress, their designs get unnecessarily bloated.

I am truly enjoying this game, taking my time and exploaring the world. I am still level and have only done 2 witcher contracts. I been spending my time doing side quests and just exploaring.

I love looting houses, the Baron had quite a lot of stuff in the celler hihihi.

The game might not look like the marketing videos, but it is still very good looking. The frame rate is however unstable during rainy days.
