I wonder if in the expansions, if you'll keep your level or they'll start you fresh? That would suck if the expansion wasn't 35+ content and you just slaughtered it since you were over leveled.

What expansion in the history of videogames reset the level of a character?

Damn guys, late game romance spoilers:
I feel really bad about going with Triss. Yen really is a good person and loved Geralt and Ciri more. I feel so bad now.

I am doing all the
Triss stuff, she just left on the boat with the mages. I was very tempted to tell her i love her. Just the chemistry between them is so palpable. My guess is things will be tough with Yennifer as well, we'll see. I don't know what to do tbh. But i am looking forward to it.

Also.. my ps4 copy this morning was doing dumb stuff. Had a hard crash to a blue screen with a report problem, then came back, tried to save only to tell me my save file was corrupted, so it would over write that. Later there was a freeze frame with a full blur screen effect, and i forget if i get a you received item icon when i pick something up. But since i disabled most UI i think maybe i am just over thinking it.

Oh... also... confronted some Witch Hunters tormenting some peasants. It was 3 of them. 2 of them dissapeared when the fight started. Only for one of them to reappear back later when i was exploring. LOL

Maybe its a curse?

That's why I went with her.
It felt natural. Besides Yen really does treat Geralt like a fucking dog. But she has her reasons and it fits her character. I'm going to have to play this game through a second time I just know it.

Well,
everyone wants to use Ciri but Geralt. But Yen seems to be the one person aside from Geralt who wants her to be happy.

Yeah, Yenn loves her for sure, but the debate is who loves Geralt more, Yenn or Triss?
Triss was certainly more willing to do whatever it took to land him, that's for damn sure.

Appreciate it, but that definitely isn't all of them. For example one of the early side-quests in White Orchard, involving the blacksmiths home being burned down, is completely missable once you leave White Orchard with
Yennefer
. I went back then afterwards to do side quests and his home was fully repaired, talking to him just gives the normal shop options.

Funny enough, the arsonist is still at the place you find him (I saw a video so I was able to find him) stumbling against the wall.

Basically a lesson to be learned early on is; as tempting as proceeding with the main story is ALWAYS do all the side content you can before doing anymore main story missions. It is the safest way... but at the same time some main missions conflict with side missions. Like there's a really odd one involving The Gangs of Novigrad and Get Junior.

Also... its hard to deny that
Triss is super cute. Like most characters in the games, they have a background, and a personality that is very convincing and comes across very effortlessly. I love that. I really do feel drawn to Triss. until i meet Yenn, then we'll see how things develop.

That's what happens. Triss is basically a close family friend who knows what the connection between Yennefer, Ciri, and Geralt is. When Geralt lost his memory, she couldn't resist the totality of those circumstances. Before that happened she had been at most a sister figure to Cirilla but that is all.

It is not hard to figure out how Yennefer sees this situation, throwing the bed out of a window and all that

If Geralt weren't there, Yennefer would have turned Ciri over to Duny The Hedgehog Emhyr, for whom she worked for over a year without letting Geralt know that she's alive, and now she blames him for trying to figure out a life without memories. That lady's bad news and a major hypocrite.

I agree, however, you appear to become way over leveled for the main quest that way, for example, I've been doing side content in Velen, and I am currently level 12, the main story quests are level 6, and I'm not even finished with the side stuff in Velen yet.

It's just damage control for all the fanboys getting angry over CDPR charging for the expansion pass.

But the free DLC was announced waaaaay before they announced the Season Pass.

I'm playing on Easy anyways so that doesn't matter much to me, granted I'm playing on easy just because of the long loading times on PS4 when you die that I don't want to suffer through. Even still, I consider the story content in the sidequests more important than how easy you kill things, I feel like the story matters more. But hey, you can change the difficulty on the fly. Do your sidequests, if you're too strong crank the difficulty up and when things get leveled out again lower it back.

So what's the final main story quest? I'm about 50 hours in and there's so much I haven't done yet. Once you complete the quest, I assume the game is over and you can't go back to finish anything else?

There's a post-game free-roam like most open world games. But as we're discussing many sidequests expire after certain points in the main quests so I dunno how much of those you'll lose when you finish the story.

I kinda wish the game had NG+

For most of the content, I am not convinced the required level actually denotes how difficult a quest is anyway!, I've done quests where I am under leveled, and walked it, and done quests where I am over leveled and really struggled (on blood and bones difficulty)

Are there some good, fairly comprehensive general tips and combat tip links/posts I could link to in an OT? Kotaku has one such general tips post I came across, anything similar worth linking for beginners? Videos too if anyone can recommended some they've found helpful.

Still not sure if I'll be posting the next OT or ColonialRaptor but thought I'd collect some guides to link to all the same.

Took my sweet time, but here's our (read: my) review: http://www.rocketchainsaw.com.au/pc/witcher-3-wild-hunt-19289/

Nice! Wasn't aware of your site before.

Crafted my superior gryphon gear, realised I'm only lvl 22... Welp guess I'll walk around in my undies for 1 level

I did the same thing with enhanced, I ended up reloading a save, lol.

Late game spoilers: How much left do I have? I
lifted the curse.
Wondering if I should go ahead and do my secondary quests / contracts.

Can you romance Yen a second time and Jutta if you romanced Triss and told her you loved her during Now or Never? And not have Triss break up with you?

Of course the DLC is doodads, little things and stuff cut from the base game, but I wouldn't say is damage control for the expansion, it's just a marketing campaign (Look, we give free DLC unlike other companies, we are so good!) that would exist even without the expansions.

After weeks of a mostly smooth experience got hit with the jump glitch, xp glitch, and one where enemies don't take damage temporarily.

Quick question. Will it break anything if I go to Skellige before doing "Now or Ever"? I'm pretty sure I'm going to choose Triss, but I'd like to have a few conversations with Yennefer first, just to get the lay of the land.

Well, I disagree.

The expansion pass for The Witcher 3 is the first DLC ever that CDPR has charged money for. I think they knew people would be upset -- and just to clarify I'm personally not upset at all and completely understand their reasoning that this is a massive expansion pack -- especially since they've previously said that they strongly believe all DLC should be free, and so they took some small semi-pointless stuff from the game and made it into DLC.

Cut content or not it's all made pretty goddamn irrelevant to me given the content is nevertheless free and Wild Hunt isn't remotely in the ballpark of lacking content as it is. Assuming the paid expansion packs will add as much content as CDPR are advertising, they'll each easily eclipse the free additional content added to both The Witcher and Assassins of Kings. CDPR were very generous with their Enhanced Editions, but arguably outside TW2's arena mode the added quests were relatively short and sweet. Nothing that would consistent as an "expansion". Much of the free Enhanced Edition content for both games was aimed at presentation.

I still think the yellow shaded land on the map will be part of the dlc. If so that area looks huge.

Nah,
she said she only agreed to help find Ciri, because Emhyr had the resources.

I think if there's anything you can count on as a game developer it's that people will be upset. Over anything and everything.

Anyone upset over what CDPR is doing needs some perspective. They just gave us one of the most content rich games I've ever seen, and for the most part it was even discounted across a lot of platforms, something I haven't seen anywhere else. Yeah the free stuff is little doodads. Maybe it was cut from the game. Maybe it wasn't, but who cares? They even told people to wait and see what the expansion offers. What's there to complain about?

I completely disagree with the writer. It feels like some people are trying to project racial diversity that exists in America (all these social critiques tend to be written by Americans) onto medieval Northern Kingdoms. People did not make this argument when Lord of the Rings was released? Why is that?
Actually, they did. But it was stupid then, too, and the rest of us just went on with our lives.

I also agree that the scrappy free DLC has nothing to do with the Season Pass. They are simple things that they can do and it gave them good PR when they announced it back when, good PR goes a long way. The free Enhanced Edition upgrades for the previous entries and all the stuff they stuff into the basic editions of the games are a part of the same mindset.

Tho with the bad PR they've ultimately gotten with the game (which they don't deserve I think; aside from the GMG situation which I think was pretty crappy of them) they might've given us the Season Pass for free in advance if they knew what was coming. XD

Unlimited Capacity
So couple nights with the 980ti

Maxed out in game
Hairworks
1080p
no ini tweaks
forced AA through drivers

Not a locked 60fps everywhere. It drops sometimes down to the 30s. 4k not coming anywhere close to 60fps ever, 3k neither. 1440p came close sometimes but to get it near 60fps all the time I have to go with 1080p. Beast game.

I highly doubt 4k will ever be doable for the majority of gamers with the amount of graphical fidelity developers are pushing with their games.

I honestly feel it is a wet dream, with only movies making it the norm.

This is a lengthy game, I easily have 30+ hours, only level 12, havent done Act 1 yet, I actually think I am not even very far in that, just been running round the country side trying to check out every ? and doing other random things.

Have to say though, mthe inventory management is fucked. It was on 2 as well. It gets so crammed full of so much shit, they either need to cut back on the stuoid amount of things to collect for alchemy or start splitting it easier.

The other problem is crafting and for formula. If it's something I just found, please highlight it so I know what I am looking for. Also for things that only need to be crafted once like potions, oils etc. please fuck it off from my list of formula. Seriously, there is so much shit there I don't even know where to begin. Furthermore it would be nice when you goto herbalists or merchants if it would highlight items you need stock of, or at least show what your current stock level is. Going back and forth in the cluttered as fuck menu system is annoying.

As to crafting, please list Armour and Weapons in Levels! Aphabetical is a pain in the ass, I have to scroll through once or twice just to make sure I am picking the right item to craft at what point as the levels are all over the place.

In general, just for the love of god, do something about that inventory management. It has been shit in every game so far, hire someone to focus on just that or something.
