Turn off points of interest. Turn off mini-map. Navigate using in-world landmarks. Use the long-press on your controller's start button to go directly to the map. I keep finding so many interesting things organically now.

Yeah I tried playing without the minimap on my second playthrough but then it becomes hard to see/find quest givers and stuff. I wish they had more in game contextual clues to those types of things instead of just having the minimap to see it. Turning off the dotted path that leads to the area of the active quest helps a bit.

Anyone know if the "World of the Witcher" book is safe to read as a refresher before playing the Wild Hunt? Been sitting on the game since launch waiting for the book to show up (and patches) but hasn't considered it could have spoilers for the game.

Gwent based trophies are going to be the death of me.

I can only win the tutorial game. I just run out of cards, always. How am I supposed to pass the round when the opponent constantly one ups me? And if I don't pass the round, they just run me out of cards!

I only found Gwent difficult when I had little more than the starting deck and I went up against people with lots of hero cards or decks like Monsters that end up playing tons of cards at once.

My advice is get some decoys, medics and spies.
You can use creative strategies to devastate opponents with those cards.

I wonder how late into development and for what reason CDPR redesigned Yennefer's face and hair. Almost all official artwork and most of the trailers, including the CGI opening, use her old look from Sword of Destiny. The Elder Blood trailer was the first time her current face was revealed.

Just started. After finishing TW2, got cow does this game look pretty. And training mode, already combat feels better. You can actually hop or roll and move while parry.

It's almost like going from classic RE to modern controls.

For difficulty I went with Broken Bones. How bad is Death March?

First 8 levels are the hardest, after that I find it pretty much not that difficult with all the skills, signs and bombs you have. Go with Death March.

I found out something big today, wish I had realized it sooner. As I've been playing the game I have noticed that my controller rumbles from time to time seemingly randomly. Today I found out that it rumbles as you pass something interesting that requires your witcher senses to see. So every time now that I feel my controller rumble I use my witcher senses and investigate, doing this I've now stumbled upon 3 sidequests.

It's the wolf medallion that vibrates whenever Geralt encounters magic or monsters. In the previous games there was no witcher sense so medallion vibrating was the only way to tell if there was magic involved or if the person you talk to was a werewolf for example.

you find a prostitute by iirc crippled Kate's and she says that some dudes from Skellige have gone in and are disrupting business and ask you to throw them out, was messing around for a while with some other quest fast traveled somewhere and saw a "quest failed" pop up in relation to the Kate's quest

Wow the Jenny of the Woods quest is by far the hardest quest at this point of the game. Reminds me of the spider queen contract in Flotsam in Witcher 2 which was also harder than anything else at the point in the game.

I think I'll just come back to this when I'm 10 levels higher.

Honestly I'm on Broken Bones and kinda wish I had done Death March. It was hard at first but now I can beat most things without too much trouble. Like the Souls games where numbers don't make a huge difference, it's more a case of knowing what to do. If you're skilled enough to dodge, counter, and use signs properly, then you can always come out on top.

Death March is a lot easier than I thought it would be, I got 30ish hours in on Broken Bones before I restarted and knew where a bunch of the bomb/potion vendors were, having 3 enhanced grapeshot and dancing star bombs coupled with the Igni alt makes the early game a joke.
