The mutagen making is a bug in 1.05. Devs know about it, so it should get fixed hopefully in the next update.

Did you pray at the altar before leaving crookback bog?

On romance:
I still can't freaking decide whether choose Yen or Triss. WHY IS IT SO HARD. Triss is good on all fronts, but there's something about Yen that makes her awesome too.

Try meditating for a bit? Rain can be absurdly frequent sometimes

Unequip all your Mutagen
Go to your inventory and crafting material tabs.
Drop off ALL your red mutagens to make Red Mutagens out of Lesser Mutagen.
Pick up your 2 Red Mutagen on the Ground then Drop All your Greater Mutagen.
Combine 3 Red Mutagen to form one Greater Red Mutagen.
That's it really. Tedious.

Thanks I'll give this a try.

I wish the devs would also find a way to allow us to set up our controllers to do things similar to this mod without all of the messing around. I would really rather hold RT and press a button to instant cast each of the spells rather than the slow down time wheel thing.

Good stuff.

I don't even consider annoying or broken riding horse or exploring with Geralt. Yeah, I can clearly see flaws and room of improvements, but besides certain problematic situations or rough edges, I find them pretty enjoyable. More: I love 'to glitch', enjoying physics and experimenting while I'm adventuring around by feet.

Sure responsiveness and camera control of M+K give me an hand.

Aw, fuck it, after that certain quest, I'm #TeamYen. Gonna have to backtrack a bit.

also it kinda sucked how i had music skipping on the credits screen. i hope nothing good happened there, as i had to skip it.

intro menu and ending credits have music skipping on PS4 since last patch.

So what's up with the Person in Distress quests? I can't find the key to open this cage anywhere. And when I reloaded I still couldn't get it and the dude for some reason was outside the cage.

Every one I've found has been
held by a bandit captain mere paces away from the cage.
Have a look in the area, but I'd think it shouldn't be too far afield.

So someone other than
the Renegade Leader as he was called in this instance
will have it?

Question (again) on romance subplots:
How the heck can I get Triss to go to Kaer Morhen?

1. The Combat. The combat is best described as a mix between assassins creed and the arkham series, with a little bit of the souls series thrown in. Except that it does nothing as well as those games and is a complete and utter disaster. In wide open spaces and one on one, it’s serviceable and for the most part I can manage, because you can often create enough room between you and your enemies to manage the fight.

I respectfully disagree. The combat in the Arkham series is too simplistic at times, whereas W3 is completely unforgiving against rushed combat even on normal difficulty.

However, it completely falls apart when you are fighting multiple enemies in small tight spaces. The situations don’t happen a lot, but when you are in dungeons, or taverns/houses. It sucks. In those tight spaces, the camera will often put you in an awkward position where you can't see the enemies and I often found myself getting attacked from an enemy I couldn’t see, which will often lead to multiple enemies getting good shots. And you end up having to frantically roll around to try to reposition yourself so you can get a good angle AND get enough space to use one of your sign powers just to create a tiny bit of breathing room. I don’t even know why the dodge mechanic even exists in this game since it rarely created enough distance to avoid enemy attacks. I also hate that Geralt is forced to commit to every animation and you can’t seem to cancel out of it. I have very slow reflexes and really struggle with parrying, although I was able to use it in one on one fights. I also hated how slow Geralt moved during combat. He should have moved quickly towards his enemies. The targeting system was off when dealing with a bunch of enemies.

That... is the whole point of the combat system. Rolling in between and fighting several enemies is bound to create sight problems (ie. blindspots), as it should in real life.

Also, there's a targeting lock function in W3 which may help with your targeting problems.

It didn't rain in my game until I put well over 25 hours into it. Now it rains quite often.

Help wanted...

This may sound strange but I'm looking for areas in the game that have artwork reminiscent of the Renaissance period. Paintings, statues, architecture.

I'm about to boot the game up and go "hunting" for these things, but I'd love to hear if anyone has some ideas about this!

Many thanks <3

Man, the
Battle of Kaer Morhen
was intense.

Vesemir... :(

I kept experiencing some really frustrating gameplay quips though. There were numerous moments where, during the start of a battle, I just couldn't attack, or cast Signs.

Decided to save 'n quit for the day after the
funeral
. Does
Dijkstra's financial support change any particular parts of the battle much? I didn't allow Triss to go through with the torture.

I know I still got a ways to go, but I'm actually eager to run through this game again.

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!

Emperor's Keep in Vizima is a good start...

Northern Novigrad is your best bet. Maybe some parts of Oxenfurt. Otherwise you won't find much Renaissance influence. Wrong time period and location.

Had forgotten about this, thank you. Hm, I wonder if I should launch a new game to quickly go to Khaer Morhen (however that's spelt).

Awesome! I had figured somewhere in Novigrad, though a lot of it looks much older. Definitely comprehend that TW3 is a few hundred years before early Renaissance, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have some slight influences on the artists making the game. Such a bountiful collection of beautiful art assets in this title!

Thanks again

Just dawned on me that this weeks DLC mission (Involving the pigs) is the same location (Lurtch) as the infamous GIF. Despite all the downgrade talk I think it ended up looking pretty similar:

2789900-8415714795-25045.gif

My shot:

18728824341_0ddc5cea63_o.jpg

Tried to pick a ToD cast shadows in the same direction. Then used a bit of desaturation via SweetFX to tone down on the colors (like in the GIF).

Biggest difference to me is the lighting. In the final game, the shadows are way too dark when there should be enough ambient light to bounce around. That's why there's still good visibility in the shadowed areas in that GIF, whereas in the final game, there's a pretty harsh transition from light to shadow.

Nice to finally know where that location is so I could see it for myself :)

I also found another familiar location....

No point in trying to replicate the lighting scenario in the original shot. Just not possible.

Papercuts

fired zero bullets in the orphanage.
I'm in the middle of act 2 right now. Is it possible for me to do the soldier statuette anymore?
I need to talk to Triss to start it, but I've had this quest even before I did Now or Never and was obviously not able to do start it there.

JohnnyFootball

GerAlt-Right. Ciriously.
Rumor has it that one of the free DLCs will be New Game +.

Really hope I can play it on Death March difficulty. I suspect it will take them a while to get that one out since the they will have to rebalance a lot of things.

Woodland Spirit achievement-

Does it only unlock if I side with Sven? That guy decided to go on a murderous rampage of all the elders! But the fight with the beast was something fierce/incredible. I feel like it should unlock regardless of how you deal with the mission, but I was wondering if you only get it if you kill the monster.

These seemingly small decisions really feel like they've got some major impact. That whole village!

That's what I've heard and it's crappy that it only unlocks that way. If you finish the contract you should get the achievement.

Jut had a four hour something session. Managed to get all the way through (act 2)
Kaer Morden battle.

Really cool seeing
Ciri kind of pull something that her mother did all those years ago. Shame for Vessimer. That whole sequence was well shot and it was touching in a way. Kind of a Mass Effect 2 ending mission where everyone teams up. Love it.

Just went down a Skellige side mission rabbit hole. It was pretty damn awesome side quest that was lengthy.

This game man... So amazing.

Not a bug, go and talk to a bunch of people near him.

You talking about the
prank quest
?

Because I'm pretty sure this guy has nothing to do with that, or the
master alchemist quest
.

There's a woman on An Skellege with a quest marker but she doesn't say anything either. Thought it might have to do with gwent or something.
