I ran into a place of power in Velen, near the level 15 specter on a small ruin, but I can't find the place of power. Is it underneath the ground, a bug, or where is it?
Look for a cave entrance east(?) from there, it's by the shore, not that far.

Can anyone confirm if % chance to dismember is just an aesthetic effect, or is it really a chance to insta-kill?

Trying to decide between mastercrafted ursine and feline swords

Where can I get a respec potion? Keira is no longer in her hut so I can't buy one from her.
Specialty shop in the wealthy part of Novigrad or various high-level druids on Skellige.

i don't really think people who haven't played the first two witcher games will really care about Eskel or Lambert.
Neither of them are in W2 and if you choose the right dialogue options (i.e. don't just tell him to STFU), you can get to know Lambert more and understand him better in this game.

I wondered about that as well, but then I realized that to me it doesn't matter. The most important thing is this: when I end something, I expect limbs, heads, and torsos to be cartwheeling through the air. If you're gonna walk the Path, walk that son of a bitch in style.

I don't think so. Lambert has a surprising amount of depth and is easily the most well-developed Witcher character in this game (who isn't Geralt), he's awesome. I guess that could depend on choices you make though. Eskel is cool too.

I didn't play the first game btw.

The quests in this game are so unbalanced (after lvl 10-12) Im missing XP's on a lot of them cause my level is to high. Some of the easy ones have a much higher level and vica versa. This needs improvement :(

i was just guessing, this is my first witcher game. i was able to relate to Lambert and Eskel since they are both a part of the Wolf School of Witchers like Geralt and Vesemir.

nah, the main quests give an abundance of points, the side quests are for the.. uh experience in the classic sense.

Guys without spoilers please, I see a lot of ACT I, ACT II talk...

does the game notify you when you change acts? I dont even remember seeing ACT I ever and maybe I missed it. Does the game inform you when you enter different acts?

No, there's not actually any in-game acts. The official guide pigeonholed it into a three act structure for some reason (it kinda works thematically) so everybody stuck with it.

Any news about upcoming patches? Haven't heard a whisper since 1.04 (PS4). Not playing now as I'm waiting for them to fix the worst issues, and... no word? Have I missed anything?

Oh wow I finally finished. I began this series in 2009 shortly after the enhanced edition released.

And man has this series been a journey. The first had some damn good world building and quests but it was held back by it's technical shortcomings (and gameplay).

Then the second expanded on this by being one of the best looking games of it's gen. And the gameplay and storytelling was certainly improved. But it was still in a fairly linear fashion and there was room for improvement.

And this...was like CD Projekt setting out to make the game they were alwaysmeant to make. The open world, the detail, the sidequests, all the characters. It was definitely stepping into the shoes of a witcher and I was satisfied with the ending. He got a happy one but it's definitely Geralt's last ride.

Of course they're working on the next patch, but there's not much to say as there's nothing too broken any more. The mutagen thing will most definitely be fixed, and the Novigrad pop-in on consoles and the glitched quests and quest-givers will most probably be fixed too. Obviously not happening this week though.

Just met Lambert.

Wow this guy really sucks.

Also the more I talk to Yen as the story goes on the better I feel about siding with #TeamTriss

Blasphemy ! But it's alright his best moments are yet to come.

Slowly finishing up the sidestuff. Finally got to 31 level so I can wear my bear armor. Got 1 contract left, 2 sidequests + gwent tournament.

Question, I think I'm somewhere in act ii doing missions in Novigrad after
the trip to the big tree in the south.
One of my gwent quests tells me I've to win a card from Dijkistra but he's nowhere to be found. His bath is closed off for me. Anyone knows if I'll still get a chance or have I missed my shot ?

Anyone here beat Witcher 3 and going back to previous games?

That's what I'm doing. I want to know more about the characters and the world. They're quite well-written.

Finally completed all the sidequests up to my current level (25). Did a main quest mission which bumped me to 28 by the end. I want to keep going with the story but now I've got another 10 sidequests to do...

oh you hadn't played the previous games? the first has some weak gameplay in comparison to the second and third but you should certainly play it to get a lot more of the characters.

it will make you appreciate all the previous character appearances (Roche, Zoltan, Dandelion etc.) in witcher 3 even more. Plus this feels like such an epic trilogy of games, story/character-wise.

I've watched a Witcher 1 playthrough on YouTube but I would love to experience it myself - don't have a PC though, and I don't even think my MacBook Air could handle it lol.

I'll definitely go back and play Witcher 2 soon though.

they've gone silent on the ps4 support forum with anything related to game performance. they said they are aware of some game ending bugs and theyre looking into it but that's about it.

they still respond to graphics stuff on the xbox side so it makes me wonder if the performance problems with the ps4 are pretty much set in stone.

So GAF I like the game, I'm not really "hooked" I'd say but I do enjoy but maybe thats my casual way of playing games. I can't really focus to long on a game or I'll loose interest (didn't have this as a kid and could play days straight! the old WoW days..)

I've started the game on B&BB difficulty which has proven to be quite though within the first 7-8 levels, had quite a few silly deaths.

Now I'm lvl 15 and I've gotten my self the Griffin armor and I've invested in sword play and the defensive shield sign (forgotten the name). Now the game has become a cake walk, most enemy's are "stunlocked" by spamming light hits and IF they hit you the shield just takes the hit and you recast it.

Is the game going to stay like this? Should i just forget about this and enjoy the story?

Also this game makes me feel so overwhelmed at times, i tried to do alot of side quests but it i overlevel'd the Main quest so i stopped doing that.

Any tips n tricks how to spicen things up? I've put the difficulty up to DM but that doens't do much tbh.

Others have complained about the inverted difficulty too. I can see two things you can do. Bump the difficult up to Death March. Or consciously avoid some signs. I am currently over-leveled, so I decided not to use Quen and Igni for a bit. It's good fun and I am having to plan and fight differently.

I find Axii to be really overpowered as well, you can cast it, wait for stamina to come back, hit the target three times and recast, repeat. It also seems to give you a much higher chance of killing human enemies in that one shot animation. But it doesn't bother me, I'm Geralt of Rivia, I'm a baller.

If you like the characters and world so much, you should definitively read the bookss, at least the short stories.

Strange, I really felt like TW2 was the weaker of the trilogy.
It was (is) beautifull, but I found the OST, atmosphere and main quest somewhat lacking compared to the first.

The first game is pretty rough. Playing it again now myself you can definitely tell that it's the same ideas and the same people behind it and the story is pretty good but yeah you'll have to be somewhat forgiving. The second game is like a smaller version of 3 so its fairly easy to go back to. It leads directly into 3 which is nice.

If you are going to play 2 I'd suggest siding with
Iorveth
since you'll get to spend time with the MVP sorceress, kind of.

I can see that. It's like Geralt is stuck on a ride he doesn't wanna be on the whole way through. Not much witchering like the 1st and 3rd games.

Damn ... does Skellige feel rushed to anyone else ?

I mean it's incredibly beautiful but the quest design isn't as tight as in Velen. Some quests really pissed me off.

Like
the druid one with the ingredients or the immortal werewolf
, those were bad ...

- Hey, Jackie... you're the oldest, so tell us. Just what's a whore do, exactly?

- Well... My dad told me they do the things mum won't.

- Hmm... my mum hates to do the laundry. So's that what all those gentlemen do at the Passiflora - get their laundry done?

- Guess so. Looked in the window once, they was all prancin' round in their knickers...

- So why's my dad say the Passiflora's the best 'cause it's got the dirtiest whores?

- Golly... adult 're strange.

At risk of sounding crazy but I've got to ask... is that what is said in the game?

Seriously, this game is so polished... There are so many dilemmas, I can't choose in the Nithing quest
between ruin a man's life and kill the herbalist
!

it's some kids in novigrad talking, think they are kinda around the dock area, honestly never bothered to listen all of it so just heard the first 3 or so lines always ^^

Yup. I've heard it while doing one of the quests in Novigrad. Pretty funny.

What was so bad about those? I thought the druid one had a funny conclusion and the other one includes a moral dilemma just like many Velen quests.

What's the moral dilemma on the
Werewolf
quest?
I just fed him his own meat and killed the guys on the docks. None of them were exactly good guys, no?

I ended up
killing the herbalist without a second thought. Telling the guy to leave his wife and child wouldn't have just ruined his life, it would have ruined theirs. He mentions how they would be shamed by the village if he leaves them. Plus, she deliberately cursed that boy and was happy with letting him die slowly if she couldn't have her way... so fuck her.
