I just started playing this last night on Xbox One. It updated to version 1.04. THIS is a large UI? Holy crap. I can barely see it on my 50" LED that I sit maybe 5-6 ft away from. Whyyyyyyy.

Edit - what I mean is I went into options and LARGE UI is already selected. :(

Around what card power level should I attempt the Novigrad tourney? My Nilfguardian deck is at 158 and my Northern Realms is at 148 (though it's the one I use). Haven't lost a game in as long as I can remember, and have almost done everything in Novigrad near my current level (18), though I've yet to go to Skellige. Should I go for it?

Does the DLC download automatically with GOG? My game doesn't have anything about DLC in the menu and when I got to Crow's Perch there's no Nilfgaard armour for purchase from the quartermaster.

No. If you have GOG galaxy installed hit the more button and then configure. Then scroll down and select the DLC you want to install.

Is there a way into the Beggar King's enclave besides just paying the upkeep fees? (Unless it's related to talking to beggars, because I already failed that part of the quest by following the other option I think)

Was hoping some Novigrad sidequest would tie in but the only one I picked up that could be related is about 15 levels above me

it's not that I don't have the money, I just want to know if I should keep delaying or get on with it

the high stakes gwent tournament is stupid. Ive been stuck here for like hours. Winner goes to whoever gets the most spy cards...thats it. This shit brings back nightmares of yugioh

Can't you put all your decoy cards in? Theoretically you can steal all but the hero spies.

I've tried for an hour and a half to beat the first two opponents, and then destroyed the next two in the first try.
Second one is the worst, so many spies were on both sides that we pretty much exhausted our whole decks, i had 3 cards left in the end.

You can decoy enemy spies, you can bring them back into the game with support cards (and Yennefer). The game is pretty silly when both players have 15+ cards on hand in the first round.

I'd just try it now but keep a save before hand. The first two opponents are really tough, but if you can beat the first guy you can do the whole tourney. Do note that it's a high level quest for a reason as there is a fight at some point.

I have definitely been trying...they always seem to get perfect hands.

yeah, thats who I am stuck on, 2nd opponent. It is ridiculous how many spy cards they get seemingly every time. Last attempt I was down to a few cards, they had like 12 still at the very end. I found the first opponent to be really easy

I am off to buy different cards.

By fight, you presumably mean a real fight? Do you fail the mission if you lose the fight?

Yeah, it's a real fight you need to get through and it's unavoidable as far as I know. I still did it around ~18 but I abused axii mind control for it.

Always confused me how people believe From Software could make a good Zelda. We'll get the ~fifth Souls game soon and they still don't even care about puzzle solving, actual platforming and the kind of verticality Metroid and Zelda focus on.

What I see in Souls games is mostly a long, fancy hallway filled with enemies and a juction here and there. Doubt Nintendo really cares about From Software.

Well this is just strange. I was reading this thread and now I see this reply. How is that even possible?

If you're talking about Sasha with her Nilfgaard deck then yeah, the theme of the deck is they beat your through attrition. Lots of healers and spies (bad ones with high strength) but offensively not that great, only the 3 10 strength cards and only 1 good tight bond (the other 2 are a waste of space). When I beat her I ran out of cards and she had 2 or something. She used medics and spies to drop maybe another 10 cards on the table but still couldn't reach the score I already set up.

I like how each deck has different strengths although its easy to say Northern Kingdoms is the best

With my Northern Realms deck, 2 spy cards and 6 hero cards.
Six heroes sounds like a lot to me. Do you have Triss in there? Not all heroes are automatically good and her card is a pretty bad one.

You should have 4 spies for the ultimate NR deck: Mysterious Elf, Dijkstra, Thaler and some dude in gold armor.

It isn't actually a very good card game... It's a battle over who drew the better hand, not who can play their hand better. I'm not very supportive of all these calls for standalone Gwent, but I do like it as a minigame diversion in a larger game.

So I guess all lesser runes that were acquired before the most recent patch don't count in crafting? Is this a glitch or intentional?

Looks like I gotta sell my 25 lesser chernobogs

I ran into a place of power in Velen, near the level 15 specter on a small ruin, but I can't find the place of power. Is it underneath the ground, a bug, or where is it?

Did you guys actually see the scene that triggers that druid's quest? He's supposed to talk to the grumpy druid down by the map markers in that screenshot.

So tl;dr, what is the current state of the PS4 version? Does it run well/look nice? Worth buying?

I got it yesterday and it's the best PS4 game I own. Shits all over Bloodborne which was the last best PS4 game I owned. Only issue is sometimes there's a bit of frame stutter in cutscenes and sound can be a bit iffy with headphones but it's rare that I run into any problems.

Worth a purchase to me anyway.

The first section "White Orchard" runs pretty well, but once you advance to other locations you will run into frame rate issues at certain locations, e.g. where's the fog/mist, heavy rain.

Yeah those bloody things breed like coathangers.

It's ironic that I spent a fortune buying the upgrade diagrams for all of those things the day that the new patch dropped, and they're all worth precisely zero now :(

Aw that sucks man. Yeah I can barely craft shit even though I'm swimming in lesser stones.

So GAF I like the game, I'm not really "hooked" I'd say but I do enjoy but maybe thats my casual way of playing games. I can't really focus to long on a game or I'll loose interest (didn't have this as a kid and could play days straight! the old WoW days..)

I've started the game on B&BB difficulty which has proven to be quite though within the first 7-8 levels, had quite a few silly deaths.

Now I'm lvl 15 and I've gotten my self the Griffin armor and I've invested in sword play and the defensive shield sign (forgotten the name). Now the game has become a cake walk, most enemy's are "stunlocked" by spamming light hits and IF they hit you the shield just takes the hit and you recast it.

Is the game going to stay like this? Should i just forget about this and enjoy the story?

Also this game makes me feel so overwhelmed at times, i tried to do alot of side quests but it i overlevel'd the Main quest so i stopped doing that.

Any tips n tricks how to spicen things up? I've put the difficulty up to DM but that doens't do much tbh.

Also for anyone looking for runestones, the Pellar is the best person I found to buy them from; Sells 2 of every rune type for 15-20% cheaper than other NPCs.

Just met Lambert.

Wow this guy really sucks.

Also the more I talk to Yen as the story goes on the better I feel about siding with #TeamTriss
