I think the greatest thing to happen in this game is doing some dumb peasant broad's fluff quest and it turning into
reuniting with motherfucking Letho to help fake his death!

That was so goddam cool to do a random, nothing quest and have it turn into something huge and important.

I only know about that due to the game guide I got for free with my game (don't remember why I was looking in it. Probably to see if I did the best option). I didn't get that
because I killed Letho in Witcher 2 (I decided Geralt was not feeling generous and annoyed at the crap Letho put him through so I killed him. And I really saw no reason to let him live).

Has there been a list compiled which list all the quest/events that will not happen if
you progress the main quest? Events like play players for special gwent cards or
questlines/sidequests you can't do anymore because x event happened in the questline.

Would like to do a 100% run on deathmarch after finishing broken bones.

I was wondering if I am doing something wrong GAF.

I cleared the first area and I am now in the second area of the game. Almost Level 5 by now, but this seems to be too low. I've already done a few things in the new area, but I encounter foes which are level 9 or even higher. I can beat them as long as there not too many of them. But for example this one Boss Ghoul Level 11 with adds was way too strong or in a bandit camp there were too many enemies.

Did I miss something?

Stick to the main quest in Velen when you first arrive. It should be level appropriate. It wont be long before you find side stuff that’s in your level range.

Jenny O' the Woods took me a few tries.
After knowing what happened to her, I felt bad for the wraith. I killed her but I wonder if you could you free her in some other way or is just killing the only option?

Also, tips for fighting wraiths:

  • Make sure to oil up your sword with specter oil prefight
  • Moon dust bombs do two things to wraiths, first thing is that it makes them corporeal without Yrden, two it keeps them from splitting up into the triangle of death and healing formation
  • The wraiths that spawn when they split up will disappear if you run a few feet away from the main one, or better yet use your crossbow and shoot those motherfuckers in the ploughin' gross tongue face
  • The moon dust bomb is sold by the halfling herbalist due east of Oxenfurt
  • Yrden, always. A good tactic is to back up, stay close or in the circle or stand at the edge and kite it in then go in with heavy and light attacks . Rinse and repeat
  • I fucking hate and love fighting wraiths at the same time.

Yeah, there's tons of quests like that in the game where it turns either into a bigger thing or goes in an unexpected direction.

Also let it be said that Detective Geralt is best Geralt.

Smarmy/angry Geralt is great too though.

Go into your inventory and read them. Then you can delete. They'll go in your quest log if it's a contract, or if it's just a hint the ? will be on your map.
Thanks for this, I was wondering what the point of the other notes on the contract board were!

Novigrad has about same content as some Assassin's Creed game, the city is about same as Revelations but looks a lot better of course. It's stupidly long...

That is one quest that dragged on way too long. The out of left field "oh shit, we're getting dangerously close to a semi-happy ending, let's suddenly do something horrible" bit also just fell flat for me. I just wanted the quest over at that point.

I don't follow D:

they meant whether or not you actually 'equipped' the skill and didn't just put points into it.

haven't tried alternate Quen, but with Axii, you have to hold R2 (or whatever key / button you cast your Signs with) instead of just tapping it.

I wish there was a way to stop getting xp. By doing every side quest I find I'm starting to outlevel the story as well as the lower end of the side quests, making the game a bit too easy. I guess I could stop doing side quests, but what's the fun in that!?

yes the crossbow is absolutely the key to killing wraiths, when they split up they heal fast as soon as they get Close, so shoot them and the fights are easy

My game glitched and I wasn't getting any background music. Game felt dead lol

Had to go back about an hour to I found where it stopped working.

edit: think I figured it out. Reloading the checkpoint before the conclusion of the Follow The Thread quest seems to trigger it.

Yea this. If you go to the upgraded Quen in the character screen, you should be able to press A (xbox) then it will let you activate it by putting it in the boxes to the right of that screen.

If you don't equip/activate it, and only put skill points into that sign like it sounds you have done, then it won't work and you will just have the default signs. I made that mistake and didn't realize until hours later, once you've done it properly you should notice straight away as the animation changes.

Why does Gwent keep switchting (automaticly) from swords? I select one but when I try to attack a monster he switches.

Once you acquire the ability (Left side of the screen in character menu), you have to then activate it (Right side of the screen in character menu).

You can only use the activated skills. You can also use the Mutagens (Diamond shaped boxes at the right side of the screen in character menu) to improve your activated abilities. Make sure that you put the matching color mutagens though.

Assuming you mean Geralt - the game auto-draws whichever sword is appropriate for the monsters you're facing. I guess it could get confused if you have a mixed pack.

Would love to be able to read books, non-quest related ones that is, without picking them up and finding them among the hundreds of books i already have in my inventory.

By "killing", you are freeing. Old fairy tales and all that. It was a ritual. She's at peace now.

Man I done goofed..

I just read that after blowing up monster nest that you get to pick up loot. :S Idiot on my part. I woould just bomb them and walk away.

Time to revisit all monster nest.

This game man, this game. All I've thought about since it released. Not had this feeling for a long long time where I'm genuinely excited to get home from work and fire it up.

What time is it?
Bugged quests. :(

Level 15 Treasure Hunt:

Don't Play With Gods - I guess the key is on a corpse but he doesn't show up as red or lootable. I think there are some armor patterns locked away.

Just finished Cabaret Quest line.

Oh man, this game...

Feels :'( and :')

The entire line of that (all of it) was a roller coaster ride.

How does the second form quen heal work? Have it fully leveled and still fill like it doesn't work 90% of the time.

Hold the button down so you get the bubble, let enemies attack it, gain that sweet sweet health back

If they break the bubble in one hit or something then you won't get any HP.

Just finished the Matter of Life and Death quest.
Rekindled the relationship and Triss just says 'see ya around' pretty much...well damn, hope it's not a while before I see her again.

I did not know that cheese divination was a real thing. I thought it was something made up for the game. I thought a cheese mage was a joke!

Doing the "Defender of the Faith" quest, the one with those wooden statues.

Along the path to the 2nd statue, in the dead of the night I run into a level 11 Endrega Warrior, which by the way had a red skull under it's lifebar, meaning it was out of my league, and could probably kill me in a single hit if it hit me with that diving tackle without Quen up.

Careful timing with dodges and liberal use of Quen, I won, but dammit if that wasn't the most intense fight I ever had.

It's times like this that I wish I had capturing equipment to preserve these kinds of things into video.

Ten levels in and I finally found out that you can swipe up on the ps4 touchpad to open up the world map directly lol. RTFM? Or was this mention d somewhere in game...

Wait, what? This is a thing?

You, sir, are my hero. Now if only there was a way to quickly access inventory and meditation and my main minor annoyances would be gone.

Well I was wandering around the mountains in Velen when I happened upon a
Earth Golem
that had two question marks and a skull above its lifebar.

Well, I pretty much just kept on riding.

So I just read that you should keep your Witcher Gear that you get in the beginning of the game, because you can use that to upgrade later. I sold all my gear as soon as I got something better, so is there any way to get it back? Does the merchant still have it?

Also, is there any way to know what gear can be upgraded later? It's not like you can carry around every piece of armor that you find.
