The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt |OT2| Wanted to find Ciri, but everything Gwent wrong

It was driving me crazy too, so I started jumping like crazy to the left of the entrance, near the cliff where it kinda seems like you can get a grip and suddenly he reached onto something.

After I got up I tried to find the alternative route, but I didn't find anything obvious, I really don't know the legit way of getting too it.

Right next to the ledge you jumped on is a gap between the building and cliff. You can go through it to circle around to the other side where you can get on the stairs up.

About the trophies the player earn by killing enemies in contracts: can I safely sell them to any merchant if I do not want them ? Is there some special merchant who buys them for a better price ?

Go here, inside this crematorium is an Herbalist who will buy them for full price.

GsaOBuY.jpg

You'll only be able to sell a couple at a time, as he doesn't have much money. His money will refresh slowly over time, so going back after doing a handful of quests you should be able to sell more trophies to him.

And trophies are only good for the perk they provide, so pick your favorite, and sell the rest.

Thanks. Is the difference in price substantial though ?

Serious question here - does anyone honestly think the combat is good (or even works) against multiple enemies in smaller indoor areas? It's fine for the most part outside where you have room to move but indoors is just horrendous. I mean you can still win with cheese tactics but it's not enjoyable at all to me.

It depends.

Yes, in general it works indoors, you have more than enough utility to keep things fluid.

The problem occurs in some cluttered spaces where you can get caught up too easily in parts of the environment. Some specific story missions can be trying because of this.

He buys them for a shitload more, but the only caveat is that he is EXTREMELY annoying to deal with. He stands in a room in which there is usually at least one other guy, and the vendor won't sell to you unless you're alone with him. This means you usually just have to wait forever for him to be alone. Secondly, he has barely any money at first (like 200 gold) so you really have to think about if its worth meditating that many times to make a few more gold selling to him.

Beat a level 32 Basilisk at level 20 on death march, despite the fact that Geralt kept putting his fucking sword away when it flew far enough away, making me punch the thing a few times. I love this game, but auto sheath is infuriating.

Holy crap, there's this Novigrad Horse race (that the Dwarven gangster hires you for) that I just can't win. I've literally come within a few metres of winning, but even that was luck in being able to effectively block the other racers, whilst my Stamina was recharging. Their horses seem to never run out of stamina, whilst mine continuously does. Should I just come back to this race after I've at least visited Skellige?

best tactic (it's pretty cheap though lol) is to block the riders when you slow down to regain stamina. they literally can not pass you if you ride directly in front of them and move a bit to block them off. that should buy you a couple seconds to get your stamina bar back up again.

That's what I already do, and most of the time it's successful, but because there's two riders, and they can somehow break the rules and go off course to get past me, before the end of the race at least one always gets past.

Yeah come back after you get full Zerrikanian horse gear, that race is god awful and easily the hardest race.

I loved that fight but Golden Oriol (sp?) made it super easy that is the absolute best potion vs poison creatures basically invincible mode. Such an awesome beasty to find and fight without having any quest or even contract for it. Love it! It looked awesome as well with that purple glow.

Agreed, especially when you're trying to whittle down a high level opponent with a few horseback passes and he puts his sword away just when you're moving in for another strike and you can't get it out in time for that pass and waste the pass. When an enemy takes over 100 passes to kill it's annoying to miss getting a hit on.

I think I just did the exact same thing as you, north easter part of an island that is just south of novigrad (the basilisk you killed?) this reminds me that I've gotta go back and get that Griffon flying about in the southeast of velen.

Did they just release a HotFix to fix the crafting problems because I notice my game updated with a 74.8mb file.

You should be recharging just passed the halfway point in the race. If you do it near the end, they kick in to "actually trying to win" mode.

It's possible your saddle needs a bit more stamina to get you passed halfway if it's a long race. Otherwise, recharging between halfway and 2/3 through the race should let you win every single race.

I know it has for me.

It took me like five tries to beat that Novigrad race entirely because I slightly went off or on the wrong path and instead of giving me a couple of seconds to recorrect my course it just goes NOPE FAILED HERE'S A CUTSCENE.

What level were you when you attempted it? I will go back at around level 28.

Yeah, on an island halfway between Novigrad and Oxenfurt. Some of the high level fights in this game are really fun, but in others the monster does so much damage in one hit that it becomes Quen spam or die. This one didn't hit SO hard, and it ended up being more enjoyable.
Overall, I'd like a harder difficulty, but not just an increase in mob damage output. Harder to do I guess, since that would require new AI tactics, or more opponents to fight at once, rather than having a bandit that is stronger than a Witcher for some reason (Hello, town guards).

Er, the Baron's quest has led me to a dead end

It just says to explore the rest of my leads in velen

Do I just do the other missions, like the witch one? I met
tamara
but not the other person.

Just keep playing the quests, and everything will be answered.

I'm crying in laughter for the second time at this game's graphical messes. Cheers again to the slowest, fugliest short-winged owl I've seen in my life who appeared without warning from a big spectacle of smoke made by a woman who was supposedly hiding lmao

This is my most memorable W3 moment

She was transforming in to an owl in the second game, too. As for its appearance and speed (really?) I can't imagine people noticing it much less really caring.

I've gone for like 12 1-hour meditations and he still wouldn't talk to me. If it works for you great but he's too annoying for me to deal with anymore, I'm homies with the merchants in Hierarch Square now.

25 on death march. Golden Oriol made it easy! I would have liked to have been lower level :)

Will have to make some.

Exploring everything has given me way too much gold. Yet to start the main story in Skellege and done about 4 side quests. I have nearly 60k in gold. Such a change from being a poor bastard near the start.

This game could use a drop quest option. I will never play gwent. I don't need like 5 quests telling me to play it. Just let me ignore it.

I feel like they'll never do this because it would mean adding a lot of new dialgoue for going back to get the quest without it being really weird and awkward. Unless they just added an auto-fail option to file it away in the failed quest section, never to be completed or retried.

I have a question about Count Reuven's Treasure:
I managed to get the cut scene where you don't alert the guards after letting Tris get tortured, and then Tris sticks a knife through Menge's chin. Unfortunately I never found out where the treasure is, just got a random vault key. Then I helped Tris torch the place as we were leaving. I assumed that was the best you could do as there didn't seem to be any dialog choices which scored more information. Now Djikstra seems pissed though. Did I make a mistake by continuing on?

I never found the treasure either actually. Would like to know this too.

Hi guys, i am kinda stuck on this part of the quest.

Get Junior - Read the mysterious letter.

It's in my inventory I can read it but the quest doesn't mark itself as completed. I have tried everything. I am now at the part of Talk to Vernon Roche in the partisian camp. I am hoping the quest hasn't bugged out :( is there a way to fix this?

I just randomly got obsessed with playing Gwent and have stopped doing any quests just so that I can search for places to get cards.

I'm just a couple hours in but this is already great. I just fought the gryphon and that was awesome. I assume I haven't seen nothing yet.

Definitely an understatement. I'd say that White Orchard is easily less than 5% of the game in terms of landmass and maybe about 2% of the game in terms of quest content.

Do you still know where it was? Wanted to do it later but already forgot the location. Southeastern island, wasn't it?

It was driving me crazy too, so I started jumping like crazy to the left of the entrance, near the cliff where it kinda seems like you can get a grip and suddenly he reached onto something.

One thing I love so much about the game, there always seem to be many different ways, purposely or not. Somehow couldn't find that ladder in that sacred garden with the werewolf, had no idea how to get to the back area of the garden, then decided to just climb that huge mountain it's connected to and get into it that way. Kinda seemed like I msssed up the quest a bit but I did it and it was fun. Made the game just feel somewhat more individual to me again.

The loot system in this seems almost broken. Everything I pick up is trash, even items which probably shouldn't be.

Many items become useful later when you want to craft fancy endgame stuff. Don't always loot everything if you think it's useless, though. Picking up all the stuff you see isn't really fun so I'm OK with not every item being absolutely essential at some point.

I'm about 25 hours into the game and I don't even know what I'm supposed to be doing alchemy wise... im still looting and selling some stuff.

Just enjoying the story and combat for now.

Booted up the game and suddenly left clicking executed the Strong Attack and right clicking executed the Quick Attack. I checked my bindings, but they were the same as always.

Anyone ever have this happen before?

Does it matter if you pick up any of the school gears before you have the diagram? I noticed some quests like to fail objectives if you do certain actions before you flag the quest.

Huh?

You have to craft the school gears and to craft the school gears you need the diagrams....

Easy way to understand alchemy is to look at it like "gear". Bombs, potions, decoctions (super potions), and oils. Once you have the recipe for one, and the required ingrediants, you "craft" it and it's yours forever. Each has limited uses, but everything refills upon meditation. So once you've crafted a bomb/potion/oils it's in your inventory to be equipped and used as you please. Enhanced/Superior recipes can then further increase the effectiveness of base crafted alchemy gear. EG: Enhanced Moon Dust bomb, Superior Swallow potion, etc.

This is different from the previous games where you needed to craft each potion/thing in complete in order to use it. Every time you wanted to use a potion, you had to have the increments and brew it. Wild Hunt simply has you brew them once to permanently unlock.

So far I'm very impressed with this game, and I'm not a fan of the series.

It just has a really nice flow in the way things progress. The map isn't cluttered with pointless distractions. Quests open up naturally in such a way that you never feel overwhelmed, but it's certainly not lacking for content.

it's the first game I've played in a while that doesn't use its open world as a dumpster for shitty copy/paste time wasters. For that, I salute CDPR.

Fuckfuckfuck. I finally got that dragon scorch card earlier and stopped playing right after, then started another app on the PS4 and didn't realize witcher doesn't quicksave after gwent games. Now it put me before the two people I fought and it isn't dropping.

Randomly giving cards like that is terrible.

Yeah it stings. First time I played the game, damn near played everyone and never got it. Second playthrough I got it within 20 minutes of stepping foot on Velen.

It's legit the best non-hero card in the game.
