Applesauce

Boom! Bitch-slapped!
Wraith, guys, wraiths!

I tried using it during the later part of
Family Matters
and went back to Quen instead, and fared better. Is there a certain way to use it or is it simply just getting them inside the purple area? I couldn't notice a change in their behavior when they were inside the traps.

Skellige has to be one of my favourite locations in a game ever.

It's the perfect mix of Pixar's Brave and How To Train Your Dragon. Each village is more lovelier than the last and they all have their own personality.

Too bad that I keep finding new bugs and glitches every day.

I love it. Being inpatient though I skipped the message which tells you how to use it. I noticed it said Hold X but it also said something about Y. Do you know what it is by any chance?

it was just saying you hold X for the fast attack ability whirl and Y for the slow attack ability rend

Novigrad has about same content as some Assassin's Creed game, the city is about same as Revelations but looks a lot better of course. It's stupidly long...

whats funny is i got assassins creed unity in my backlog and i was thinking, while running thru novigrad "how will i ever play Unity after experience the better gameplay in this with similar setting?"

When I first hit Skellige I assumed it was more of a secondary area with less attention to design, layout, individualism, scope, etc, despite its size and otherwise gorgeous presentation, simply because the bulk of the game seems to take place in Velen. Yet this is so far from the truth. As a whole it's more homogeneous than Velen, but it still has so much effort poured into it to keep it up to the standard of visual world building. It's utterly gorgeous and full of little moments where you think you've seen everything, then bam, something new.

Also, now so far in the game, the more imbalanced aspects expose themselves. Like the last game the difficulty is still skewered towards the front end of the game. Put effort into crafting and upgrading oils, potions, and gear, and applying all tactfully to an encounter, and much of the game is quite management on Blood and Broken Bones. I kinda wish I'd started on Death March actually. Not that there isn't super challenging stuff still to fight, but the early game was more "oh fuck this is intense", and now I'm far more empowered even against clearly superior enemies.

Nevertheless, the sum total of parts make it a masterpiece and it's still running to be my favourite game ever.

Also, as someone who hasn't read the books but wiki'd the shit out of them, the plot, characters, and themes seem like it's aiming to be closure to all things The Witcher, not just the games. It really does feel like a final to Sapkowski's arc just as much as CDPR's.

Wraiths turn corporeal when they're inside the traps, and you inflict a lot more damage that way.

kind of a bummer the story doesn't spend more time there tbh. love the incredibly lush color palette of the area.

That is so good to hear! I'm planing to go there tonight for the first time. I've been putting it off because I was afraid it would be a let down.

Their behavior doesn't change but the amount of damage you do certainly does.

Fffuuucccckkkkk one decision and I ruined a whole questline fuck this game! Lol its going to be brutal playing these insanely long questlines a second time through. Holy shit, I am so glad we get one of these games every couple years its just to fucking big (not a bad thing) but never have decisions come back 20-30 hours and you just kind of give it a huge stare like "Now I feel the effects and I have to deal with this bullshit because of last week, nnnnooooo" So satisfying though.

And I have yet to even go to skellige!

The pacing is different as is the feel, mainly because so much is ocean and, as cb1115, the bulk of the story and main quests are spent in Velen. But the quest arcs in Skellige are glorious, and the landscapes beautiful. Maybe requires a bit more conscious investment to explore and quest than Velen, if that makes sense, to reap the rewards.

Hey Guys, did you know Geralt hates portals?

Seriously by the end of the game I had no idea!
No, but did you know that Yennefer wears black and white? You probably couldn't tell by looking at her, so be sure to inspect her black and white clothes to let Geralt inform you that she wears black and white.
Her perfume is in the same room in case you forgot that lilac and gooseberries smell like lilac and gooseberries.

Extremely very much. In fact that was one pet peeve I have had with the saga - eventhough it was beautiful and ended in a kind of poetic, though ambiguous way, one of its main story threads (Wild Hunt itself) was actually left completely unresolved.

I am so happy that writers of CDP's calibre, together with programmers and artists, decided to close it off in the most magnificent way imaginable.

....and I still haven't even been to Novigrad or Skellige. After 60 hours. But soon..

I was never much of a fan of Triss. In my Witcher 2 playthrough I abandoned her to go along with my bro Roche. So I'm leaning towards siding with Yennifer since that's a choice that's been talked about. Granted I'm still in the Prologue so I've only seen the brief intro to her character, but I liked it.

At least from my recollection, Geralt seemed to talk with more fondness towards Yennifer in previous games than I ever got out of him with Triss (could be due to my choices as well).

I had also been kind of distrustful of Triss in previous games since she'd often seem to be scheming with the now defunct Lodge Of Sorceresses. Granted, she could have been sabotaging them as well, but Sile and Phillipa weren't exactly good representatives of that group. I was glad to let the former die in that trap Letho set up.

i have a lot more familiarity with triss because of the previous two games, but honestly i found yennefer a lot more intriguing in her VERY SHORT introduction. i'm likely gonna reject triss' advances and go with her on this one.

The only true choice.

Got 2 questions for people who mgiht know the story better than me:

About the bad ending
I happily didn't get it, but saw it on YT, what is this White Prophecy about and where does the portal thing go when she goes there?

And about the good ending
Game says Geralt and Ciri sets off on each their own, where does Ciri go and why don't they just stick together?

The White Frost is never really explained it's part of an old prophecy that says the child of the Elder Blood will bring about the destruction of the world and the White Frost. Basically, the entire world will be covered in Ice and everyone will die. It's really not important for you to understand as you are Geralt your job was never to save the world, you're but a simple Witcher, that is Ciri's job.

Well, I think my ending is the true good ending but in the ending you are talking about she becomes a Witcher, so to answer where does she go? The answer is everywhere, from Velen to Kovir to Zerrikania, wherever their is work. Obviously after a while and teaching her everything he knows Geralt wouldn't need to accompany her everywhere, Witcher's mostly work alone anyway, so he'd probably go settle down with his love interest or just continue Witchering on his own. I still find such an ending to be "bad" for Ciri, I prefer my "good" ending where she becomes Empress. As much as Geralt would like her to be Ciri is not a simple Witcher, she's much more important and can do great things for this world.

I actually find her default outfit more appealing.

While they are in that area they are bound to the physically world, ergo, they take ten times the damage. Not exaggerating, a hit of mine made 35 dmg to a certain wraith, but within Yrden it did 350+

yennefer is a much more fun character, great interaction with geralt, I couldn't say who is prettier but both triss and yen are certainly among the most attractive women ever created for videogames

Completely forgot Delusion had to be equipped to work in conversation choices...had to reload the
Menge quest, no way I'd let Triss get tortured.

I messed that whole plan up in the first minute.
Didn't even let them grap Triss and then slaughtered every soldier my sword could reach. Fuck that, no torture for you.

you should definitely play it through once, though,
you will get a badass cutscene with triss if you manage to hold up the plan until the very end.

I think the original save from the first OT was messed up and actually had
him dead. If he's not there, he was dead in the imported save.

Dunno. I imported the same save and met him yesterday. But I got the quest from some elderly, poor noblewoman who wanted her residence cleansed. If there were traps all over the place then that was the quest. It might be that
he's still there, waiting on the second floor of the barn IIRC.

Yeah,
he must be dead in this save as there were no traps. Just specters.

Oh well, something to look forward to in my inevitable second play through!

Just came across that Leshen in the mountains which killed the lumberjacks. Shit the life outta me at 2am coming at me. Wasn't prepared for it. Great design for it as well.

I don't think that's possible, since I mainly use autosave slots and only god knows when I saved the last time in an extra slot. Maybe in my second playthrough, if I ever finish the first one.

Im a bit sided on wherever the Empress ending was a good choice. In the first hand she does say she wish to become normal and the Empress way is probably that way, but she is special though and when Geralt brings Ciri to Emhyr she shows a great disgrace in him. Like if she goes to the Empress, it's like she forces herself to do it and it's not a free choice.

If she stayed with Geralt, how could she be the star of The Witcher 4?

CDPR planning in advance.

Witchers work alone

Thx folks for the answers.

I used a save from HERE, it's a collection that covers most major decisions from W2, aside from the fact that
Letho lives
in all of them, I think.

ah well, in games like this I make extra saves before every decision and reload often, in this quest especially I did a lot of reloading, for instance,
you don't get the quest with the spy if you let the torture happen completely, it's all a bit different and I love stuff like that

Stumbled upon level 26 Foglers
behind that giant tree in the south
, which is the highest I have seen so far. Dead in like 3 hits. (Level 15) :( The area in general seems to to be a possible main quest zone for later on as it's pretty inaccessible.

Gonna try to finish what I assume is be end of the main questline in Novigrad for the time being. And finally to do the Towerful of Mice quest.

Btw. it's not possible for me now to find Dijikaskdda's treasure, right? I am a bit sad that I left him without a huge chunk of his money.
