Such a long post and you didn't even actually tell us what your issue with the walking controls is. Smh

Exceptionally imprecise with an implementation of momentum that fights with your intentions and expectations of where Geralt should be going. If you don't think it feels like shit, then I'm honestly jealous, but I've played enough third-person games to know that TW3's traversal mechanics are objectively shitty. Not different, not unique, not nuanced; just shitty.

Shit like this makes him look like an aging member of a boy band trying to recapture his youth. Slicked back + goatee for life.
And that makes him look like a "young at heart" 45 year old who thinks we're all still in 1992 and "grunge rock" is all the rage. Lol!

If others, including myself, don't have a problem with them then I would argue that they're subjectively shitty.

Well, this quest for
Dandelion
questline sure became interesting, I didn't see the whole
failed bank heist, Dandy being on the run and Dandelion essentially finding the female version of himself and falling in love with her.

This game keeps getting better and better wow.

Also, I love how they basically copied the strangers and freaks random encounters from RDR, I've ran into this Knight guy who
is essentially psychotically in love with some Maid Milburry woman whom he thinks is the finest in the land and is on a quest to fight and kill a hundred knights in her honor whilst also correcting anyone that incorrectly posits that the person they care/love/plough is more beautiful.
He continually challenges Geralt and shows up in random places across Velen, my final encounter
He had his shield and hired two mercenaries to fight me since I had readily trounced his ass several times before. Well, this time I ended up killing him lol.

You're not even through the first act from three yet.

FUUUUUUCK.

Alright, Gaf.

What the fuck is with these controls? Hands down some of, if not the worst walking controls I've ever experienced; and okay, it improves with combat, but man, still so much left to be desired. I just... This got so many 10s, right? And sure, it does the other stuff excellently (I'm greatly enjoying the presentation), but as a reviewer, when your first impression of PLAYING the game should be one of, "that is pretty mechanically putrid", how do you not score accordingly, or at least mention it?

I'm sorry. I just find this really annoying. It's like people don't care about how a game plays anymore. It's all about the expanse of the land and the richness of the lore and whatnot.

Anyway, like I said, I'm enjoying the other aspects, so I'll push on in hope.

First thing I did was decrease the sensitivity of the sticks on my old Gamespot "360" controller. I eventually got used to the immediate-feeling of the controls. The second thing I did was buy a X1 controller for the superior sticks (still far less accurate and stable than a PS4's DS4, but I don't want to mess around with third party drivers and cofig tools). But I agree, the general movement could have used more refining.

This, the way certain packs of mobs attack through each other in concert (particularly drowners) and the design of many contract monsters are the only negatives I can give this game. And they're not that bad, still pretty good, they just stick out as severely poor points when everything else about the game is so perfect.

Eh I was walking into door frames here and there at first but I got it pretty mastered now, I can fly through the tight places in town and even do the little parkour sections with ease. Roach on the other hand is a bastard, stopping for no reason, spawning in 50 feet away behind fences when I call, autopilot making sharp turns when I just want to go straight.

Will drop pants for Sony.
Anyone know where i can purchase the full soundtrack for the game? It seems the cd that came with the game doesnt have all the songs.

I was thinking it was more along the lines of "weathered and experienced warrior", like a Jeor Mormont type.. but sure, whatever you say. lol

10/10s don't mean the game is perfect. I'm sure you can find reviews that gave the game 9s and above that mentioned their issues with the controls.

Not everyone finds it mechanically putrid, believe it or not.

Look here, m8.

You have a point there. I'm just bummed out. Obviously my priorities are skewed differently to those of you enjoying the game immensely, but this a big hurdle for me. I just feel as if a few very unwarranted free passes have been thrown TW3's way.

Most people get used to them. It was weird at first, but I was so engrossed with the game that it stopped bothering me.

*shrug* YMMV.

It's a free download when I activated my key on GoG/Galaxy. It isn't free for Steam/PS4/X1 players? I'll check o the license later and if allowed I'll PM you and pass it on for free.

The narrator is supposed tp be Dandelion? Doesn't sound anything like him

It is dandelion, in one quote he straight up mentions, "Blah blah blah geralt does something, blah blah blah like I, the masterful dandelion or something like that".
I always just took it as his over dramatizations / ego showing what his stories show him as big old hero voice D.

A lot of reviews mentioned it. The controls have a fat deadzone that adds lag to the movement. It takes some adjustment but eventually you get used to it. I'm hoping for a patch or mod that makes things more responsive, but after awhile I got used to it and it ceased to be an issue.

Stick with it, it's worth it.

Or dandelion older telling the tale to somebody considering he knows all of the events of the story from start to finish.

I like these random encounters, Killed some dudes ages back and I randomly got ambushed by there buddies. lol

Novigrad city quest spoilers beyond:

Does anyone know exactly how all the gang/Roche/Dandelion hunt quests stack? I was making headway with Sigi, which got me to the Get Junior quest, which split off separately from the Gangs of Novigrad quest. Then I got a tip about Roche from Sigi and went to check it out, but once he introduces you to Radovid, Gangs of Novigrad fails. Am I going to have to end up failing at least one of these quests, or is there a way to approach them that lets me see what everyone is up to?

Forget "Gangs of Novigrad" even exists. That questline is just nothing short of annoyance, you have to protect the dwarfs that come in with you else you fail the quest. I tried it multiple times but no matter what all three dwarves would die.

Start it but ignore it and just do the Get Junior quest, you will get 200 experience. At least that's how it worked out for me.

Heh, I didn't know sword finishers worked on bosses. I just killed the
Mad Kiyan
(Cat Armor related) at the start of the fight with Axii stun + decapitation, and he was also two levels above me.

95% certain that im done with this game.

Meant to say...95% certain that im still playing this game. Finally completed White Orchard and im now starting Velen. It's funny, even when things piss me off or don't go my way, I don't want to stop playing. :)

I think I just got one off on character I was supposed to be "training" in a side quest but it cut to dialogue before the animation could play out.

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!
Is there a merchant that'll buy bolts? I've got so many I never use and they're getting heavy.

I just equip them as I find them. The slight damage boost is more useful for those rare crossbow occasions than the meager gold and inventory space they take up otherwise. Never a time you will need to save them for specific encounters either, so just use them for that slight boost.

Question about the Bloody Baron ending and the affect on that mission the armorer gives you in Skellige:

If I free the tree spirint because fuck letting children get eaten, does the armorer's mission in Skellige end? The armorer close by who is an apprentice of the woman gives you a mission early on if you ask him. If you give Anna his wife the wrong doll she dies anyway so does the Baron still hang himself and does Geralt run into his daughter later?

Also, I'm clearly going to have to kill every soldier I come across at Crow's Perch. Does killing them have an effect upon life at the estate or come back to haunt me later?

Is there a way to romance all the women but not end up alone? Changed my mind and hate dealing with Yenny because she's always bitching.

Romance spoiler;
So I completed Triss's sidequest and said to her I love you. Does that lock me out of romancing Yen?

I'm about to find out right alongside you.

I put it to Triss in the lighthouse. My GF and one of her friends walked into my office as the scene played out. They said nothing and walked right back out. So a little anecdote for ya.

My favorite part of this game is where it's been raining for the past 5 minutes and geralt opines that it looks like rain. must be those witcher senses at work.

We cannot play the game for you, young apprentice. You must make your choices, and live with them.

Zerokku

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?
So I have all the other parts upgraded, but haven't found an upgrade diagram -

Is there an enhanced version of the ursine crossbow? I've crafted the base version (and am still too low of level for it) and have enhanced versions of the other bear school gear except that.

If so, where do you find the diagram? Google has been no help in this regard :(

I like to think of it this way.

In the Witcher, there are bad solutions and there are really bad solutions...and the game will subvert you every chance it gets.

Killed my first

at 15 and happened to find the master bear diagrams lol. Fun fight. First time I actually had to use roll and not dodge

Yeah, I've made all my decisions blind this playthrough, and it hasn't always turned out how I hoped, but it's been a great experience. Incredible, really

But there is this innate urge in every game to do things "right". It is how we have been conditioned. That's why I think it would have been nice to have a mode where there is no "completed" vs "failed" outcomes for side quests. You just effect the state of the world, your quest log updates. And maybe you get slightly less experience for a "failed" quest.. For example, the Bitter Harvest quest. When I failed it, I instantly restarted the save before it because I got a big red "failed quest" marker. True, that is on me but it would be interesting to see what other quest systems might work.
