Where are the best armor and weapons located? I'm kinda focused on the main story missions and have a bad habit of ignoring the side quests. Any vendors or markets selling good gear or do I have to do the side quests?

Help me guys! I have two questions:

Is there a web-site where I can read about the game's lore other than the wiki? (Lore, the current war, etc.)

Second question is regarding to the Ladies Of the Wood quest.
I set the evil spirit free (thought it cannot be so bad since the so called ladies impriosoned it. What is it really?

Ehh I feel like they serve as a good consequence for taking certain actions. At it allows the quest lines to progress as the story continues.

They could do a better job of informing you that something will fail though.

Mine failed because of a bug tho. I would understand if it happened because I did a certain thing wrong or judged wrongly.

For the book readers and a Dandelion quest:
Doesn't Priscilla remind you of Essi Daven from the short story, A Little Dedication? She's definitely CDPR's homage to the character. Both have similarities in regards to their appearance and relationship with Dandelion.

I am loving this game, but with playing it I have learned of something about my game tastes as I have grown older...

I am not the one for open world massive RPGs anymore.

In the past I'd look over every nook and cranny, do all quests, grind, etc. I'm finally at the point in the past few RPGs I've played where I just exhaust myself too fast trying to do so. Dragon Age I didn't even complete due to this.

I'm trying to stay focused on story only now that I'm aware of this in hopes I can avoid dropping this after 40-50 hours. The combat, while good, isn't strong enough to compel me to play 150 hours of it.

This makes me a little hesitant about MGS5 since it is open world as well. I don't think I'll have the patience to complete it to completion, but I have yet to see how the side quests are done in that game. If it's like Peace Walker it'll probably be doable since they are such short treks and starts you in the space the quest takes place.

Anyone else as they get older yearning for more guided experiences?

Playing gwent has me really in the mood to play other card games. I've never played Magic the Gathering, so how are the PSN/XBL Magic games? Will they scratch the itch?

I feel dumb, but how do you upgrade gear? The tutorial glitches and I can't find it anywhere in the tutorials section.

Thanks for any and all help!

It most likely is the spirit of the mother of the three crones. The mother created the crones as her daughters to serve her. After a while she went mad and lured villagers into the swamps and killed them. Her daughters killed her, buried her and her soul became trapped in the oak.

The Man With The Golden Dong
Silly question, but how do you "upgrade" items? I've only seen sockets. Where is the option to upgrade?

My quest "Fake Papers" is bugged. I protected the guy I was supposed to while he was looting the battlefield but when I go back to the shady merchant I only get the dialogue option that says his brother in law died. I also tried jedi mind tricking him and bought the pass for a discount but even then it said quest failed and no pass. Boo. I know it's pretty easy to cross the Pontar without the pass, but still.

Try Hearthstone?

The Magic games on consoles are okay. There are demos you can try. But the UI is absolute ass and slows everything down, and doesn't give a good view IMO.

Id play Magic otherwise

Halfway through it? Oh, you haven't seen anything yet.

I guess I'm 3/4th of the way through, coz I've seen "it". Escorting it back now, and the wraiths are annoying lol. Probably should've done the other level 6 quest first rather than this level 7 quest, as I'm only level 5 (and on DM difficulty).

I might try it out. Is it crazy to hope at least one of the free DLC's involve Gwent? I don't think they have announced everything they are releasing.

Is the Yen alternate up for PS4 US? I hate her default attire but this alt tho, even without all stockings and other bullshit, it be lookin nice.

Do you actually hold the button? I have both Delusion and alt Axii equipped and it works like a charm.

To be fair, I don't think the game actually tells you how to do alternative signs. Unless I missed the tooltip or something.
I thought my Alt Quen was bugged as well until I accidentally held onto the button.

I can't speak to the other schools, but I never found anything better for my high crit dodge build than the cat school gear that I crafted. Assume the others compliment other builds just as well

Superior Diagrams?

Can you explain the process? This diagram lets you make an armor set, and then what? You can somehow upgrade it later? I'm confused how it would vary from any other diagram.

Basically you get a better version of a chest piece by crafting a new chest piece, and the main component is the old chest piece you are "upgrading."

lol the only way I might be able to see the missing piece of dialogue anytime soon is to watch a walkthrough. Finally found a dude who went for Triss AND is in late act 1/early act 2 or so of the game so maybe by this weekend he'll be on the part where the missed conversation is.

Yeah this has me worried too. I finished GTA and enjoy that world though. Finished a lot of the sidequests too, and I like exploring that world.

Finished Fallout, and enjoy doing sidequests in that game too. I like those worlds

Didnt care to finish Skyrim or Dragon Age, but I think it's more to do with those games not feelig rewarding as opposed to me getting too old for the genre

Im hoping witcher keeps me engaged through it all, and by the way people praise this game, I have my hopes up that it will be exceptional

Ah crap. I've been dismantling and selling a lot of my armors when I get new ones. Granted I am only level 7 so this shouldn't be a big issue so early on I'm sure.

TW2 choice impact is trivial outside of a couple of events.

Yeah, I did the
Roche & Ves quest this morning. Does Ves even have more dialog if you slept with her in TW2
?

In terms of choices and impacting the story, TW2->TW3 feels like DAO->DA2. I was hoping for a "Mass Effect" level of impact with the choices.

Shit, I think thTd my only criticism towards TW3. And that's just trivial nitpicking, IMHO.

What's your stamina regen at? And what level are you?

Thinking about this further, the game should work very well even if you play it in a linear fashion like Witcher 2. That kind of playthrough should greatly benefit from the fact that exp and leveling is tied directly to the main quests.

Pancakes

hot, steaming, as melted butter slips into the cracks, drizzled with sticky sweet syrup OH GOD
is it me or the swimming mechanics are insane.

Not just you the swimming controls are terrible. It's particularly infuriating when you're low and breath and Geralt decides to get stuck on a plank of wood as you're trying to get back to the surface.

My guess, going from the tales of my dear departed Irish grand father is it's
a take on the Pooka. Depending upon the people near it it can be good or evil. Seems to share some of the same traits. It will do good, but can also drive people to depravity. Appears as a horse, sometimes black and sometimes white, or even as a goat, but that doesn't mean much. It can change forms. I think the Crones imprisoned it because it was competing with them over the minds of men. Once free it is out in the wild doing both good and bad (freeing the children, while forcing the town that helped imprison it insane).

Edit: side note, I just accidentally entered combat against a human with my fists rather than sword and scored a gigantic crit and killed him with one blow. Geralt all Tyson style.

Looks like I'm addicted to gwent.
I'm on the quest where you have to go to that masquerade ball thing and have the option to play gwent with some of the guests before continuing. It took me like an hour to beat them all. I need to build a better deck.

Give it a try.

Im shocked at how horrible the UI is. Like damn, how stupid did they have to be to approve it.

Hearthstone is so nice to play in this regard

Also, Table Top simulator seems to have Gwent, so why not try that and play against people?

I assume there will be more Gwent. It is very liked by the community, it seems

Good that's what I've done. I did full clear White Orchard, but then the next area was 3x its size and I did a quick nope.gif.

Did anyone else get a bug for the Baron Family Quest line?

I'm supposed to be finding the wife at this point, but I have nothing to go on? I found the daughter without issues and told him about it. Quest log notes show
that she's in some bog, but I don't see it labeled on map anywhere?

Anyone know where I should go ?

Late game sidequest spoilers.
I really didn't enjoy the quest about assassinating Radovid. The whole quest was really abrupt, and the ending betrayal with Dijkstra was really a no brainer. I'll admit I didn't entirely understand the politics behind his betrayal, but why would I just let him kill Roche and Thaler? In my game Philippa was alive, so maybe it plays out differently if she isn't, but I still didn't enjoy it. Also I never actually found Dijkstra's treasure, is there a way to actually find it?

Others have said you should start working on the parallel quest available at the same time. It ties back.

Do the other main quest. Both are linked.

This is no bug. Keep playing the game and moving forward with the story.

I mean, they both are blond bards,
but their relationship with Dandelion is very different and so are their personalities. Essi was a melancholic platonic friend and a rival, Priscilla is a love interest/obsession and a goofy hack artist.
