Just started this, amazing.

Is there a site for character skill builds? Nervous about spending ability points and want to know some good bang for the bucks :)

You can use a potion to respec later on, so pick whatever is working for you now.

*was wondering - does anyone know where to find / how to unlock a mastercraft armorer now? i've looted some great recipes but haven't found the quote/unquote "mastercraft" armorer yet.

The dwarf in crow's nest gave me a quest to find some tools on Skellige. He has promised to craft great armor with that.
I don't know if he's the only one though.

is there a way to filter completed side activities(like monster nests, guarded treasures), off the map? I still want the unfinished ones on there, just the greyed out ones gone.

Adrian Chmielarz addresses criticism of his criticism of Polygon's review:

https://medium.com/@adrianchm/the-boy-who-cried-white-wolf-part-2-5b331951a7

Liked this part especially, about why he called the review poisonous:

Fuck him and his bullshit.

Reviews should be subjective and based on one's experiences, and if the rampant sexism and non-diversity of the game is something that stands out to a reviewer, he should comment on it. It would be a disservice to his readers not too, and if you don't want a reviewer who factors social issues into their reviews, read another outlet! Most of them don't talk about this stuff!

For him to somehow claim that a reviewer speaking out about something that they find issue with will somehow limit creatively in the industry is ridiculous and pandering to GG fear-mongering. Especially when the review has gotten more criticism than the aspects in the game that Gies criticized.

Also, doubling down on the "saying the world is oppressively misogonistic IS AN OBJECTIVE LIE because some of the ladies are powerful!" statement is a fucking asinine hill to die on. Chmielarz is a borderline bigot pandering to a hilariously ignorant Gamergate audience with hyperbolic and borderline nonsensical arguments. As someone who really enjoyed some of his previous work, I am very happy to never play anything he makes ever.

also hey guys really enjoying The Witcher Three that gwent huh

From my interactions so far I must say I much prefer Triss to Yen. Great character so far. Yen seems really unlikeable but to be fair I only saw her during the intro.
I felt this way too, but the more I think about the triangle, the more I sympathize with Yen. If I were in her shoes, I'd be cold and standoffish too.

Progess question for someone who already finished the main campaign.

After you break the curse on Uma and assemble your allies in Kaer Mohern. Is that close to the end of the main story or is there still main story stuff to do afterwards? I'm curious to see what happens on that island but I don't want to miss any sidequests.

I'm really taking my time with this game. It's so immersive and fun to role-play as a witcher. I even find myself walking a lot instead of running! Especially in cities/towns, but also in the open. Just love walking slowly and taking in the sights and atmosphere.

I like that about Yen. Never played TW1/2 and just from playing this game i didn't find Triss nearly as interesting a character.

I wish I could find her interesting, but I'm not seeing anything other than a stuck-up attitude towards everyone. Bleh.

Without spoiling me, could any one tell me how far in the plot I am? Just got the quest to
go to the isles of the mist, havent seen anything like "Act 2" or whatever yet but the plot seems to be ramping up

Einchy

semen stains the mountaintops
The Great Escape

Fuck, this quest is bugged out. I'm supposed to climb over a ledge but Geralt just keeps running it it.

I'M still in act 1 with that playtime.....

Thanks! was trying to figure out my playtime (GOG version doesnt track it accurately), 45 hours and just about done with Novigrad/Velen, heading to Skellige, have not spent so much time on a game before but this one is completely engrossing me.

Totally messed up though with not making
Triss
stay, oh well gonna just push on through.

They are doing exactly that.
They're doing both... One of the expansions is an entirely new region, which is awesome, and the other takes place in Oxenfurt, which is lame and explains why that city has like zero content in the base game.

I bet both come with content added to the rest of the world, though, like some new POIs, witcher contracts and minor side quests. Seems like something CDPR would do.

Both these characters are way deeper than what the seem like at first. Without going into much details... Based on their characters Yen > Triss. It is not even close IMO.

In regards to Yennefer, at face value she can seem like a bitch which is why she has that kind of reputation. She doesn't explain her feelings to just anyone so it may seem like she's just selfish, but she will do absolutely anything for people she considers her family. The books really do her justice and the growth of her character by the end is pretty damn good. She's in stark contrast to the overly bubbly sorceresses that seem perfect but are in no way loyal and will use you. Even Triss has her bullshit moments in the books so no one is without some sort of bad things that everyone will disagree (or even agree) with. But hey, that's the beauty of it. Most if not all characters are really good in their own way and there's always depth there. :D

TW3 did a great job of taking more content from the books and making it feel like a real sequel. I'm very impressed with it so far and I haven't even finished it yet after putting about a week into it. Very worth the wait.

It has some spoilers for a really sweet part of the Novigrad story, but has everyone seen the trailer CDPR put up of Priscilla's Song in multiple languages? I couldn't find if it has been posted in the thread already, but I just stumbled across it and it's really neat. It has the English, German, Japanese, Polish, French, Portuguese and Russian dubs used in it.

Yeah, I know that not everyone reads the books, but without reading those it nearly is impossible to understand Yen fully. All the bitchiness she showed, all the heartless things she does is because she put her loved one foremost.

That said, Triss is fucking awesome too and even though I know I'll choose Yen, it fucking sucks to break Triss' heart. Oh well, maybe I will just hang out with some random girl and leave all the heartache behind.

cool!

i'm just starting on the skellige main quest-line right now, so i'll hop back there and grab that one before settling into this place too much - thanks!

I don't see why you consider that 'lame'. Fleshing out an already established area with more content takes a lot less work than creating a new zone which will hopefully be on par with their current offerings which is why it is coming out later and probably be more expensive.

Haha, just stumbled upon a quest where a mage is imprisoned in a tower by a Defensive Regulatory Magicon (
DRM
). And how can it be deactivated? Why by using Gottfried's Omni-opening Grimoire (
GOG
), of course. Subtle :)

Just met the guy who wants to fight 100 men for the love of a woman for the 2nd time.
He learnt sword and board this time

And a reference to the film Snatch with Georgious George the bare knuckle fighter.

I'm in a fist fight with the arsonist from like the first side quest and he is kicking my ass. What am I missing? I can't block because I can't wield my word in the fight and he is blocking like every punch.

They generally have many brick jokes in the game. Love how the implemented memes and random references to other pop culture just like that. It really feels like the people had fun with what they did.

Stuff like always gives me a chuckle:

You could reload and Axii him during the dialugue. Why even bother fighting that drunk racist :p

In regards to the ongoing conversation about Triss and Yen, I think it's worth mentioning that they deserve some props for only having two main romantic options. Yes, you can sleep around with other characters (and some even have lengthy quests to do so), but it feels like the quality of the storyline for the main two is enhanced by centering attention on them.

I tend to be a bit... over-aggressive in RPGs, haha. But I just almost killed him last fight, should get him this next one.

EDIT: Kicked the shit out of him and
broke his nose
. Good stuff

?
You can block punches with your arms too
Alternate between fast and strong punches.
Try to position yourself better so he can't block

I just finished the Bloody Baron questline...

I got dead Anna and hanged Baron ending. Really sad for that family. I released the tree beast thing as well (the black beauty horse), not sure if that had an effect on the final part at Crookbag Bog. It's crazy how the quests intertwine. What's the other ending?

Just finished The Tower of Mice. Wow. How the hell are these "side" quests?! o_O

This game...
I think it's really clever just how the game gives you these quests.
Kiera's storyline is just something that comes up under "Secondary" stuff. It's not listed under the main stuff, so it's ostensibly "side" content. But it's actually really complex. And it's neat how sometimes your "Secondary" quests are just 10-30 minutes quests or 1-2 hour subplots. One quest that I got from an old woman led into a completely out-of-left-field reuniting with a character from another game. It's damn brilliant. I think Kiera's story is actually one of the three main subplots in the game.
