The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt |OT3| Metz Some Ploughing Good Ladies In the Forest

I got beated by that dude and didnt got a quest, did I missed it too?

Damn it :(

I restarted the game and beat him. I received a card and the quest "Collect 'em all". Did you get the quest at least? According to my sources, the card was once missable but is supposed to be under some tree in the latest patch.

I absolutely love the Kaer Morhen theme. I'm not a big fan of the overly epic tracks in the OST (except Geralt's theme, which is ace) but the more slower ones are absolutely beautiful. Some of it gives me Shadow of the Colossus feels.

Anyone know the White Orchard field at night music? It's the same melody as "The Vagabond" but much more ambient. Cant find it anywhere.

Looking forward to your impressions :) Also Polish Ciri and Triss >>>>>> English version..

I like Polish Geralt a lot. He sounds a lot older and battle worn. Its hard to play with the Polish audio however since it's tough to pay attention to dialogue outside of cutscenes. I'll YouTube for Polish Ciri.

Ciri was only mentioned in TW1 but she had a huge part in the book saga, basically second main character next to Geralt, much like in TW3. The reveal that Emhyr is
her father is actually pretty mindblowing in the books, but yeah by TW3 it is known to readers. She escaped Wild Hunt in the books and the plotline was left unresolved there, so TW3 finishes it.

Ah gotcha. She's pretty great. I love her design (and the cosplays too :3 ), but there are some obvious fan servicy shots that made my eye roll. She's one of the better designed female characters in gaming, I'll give her that.

Do they explain any of her backstory in this game, like how she and Geralt met, etc. or do you have to read the books / wiki for that?

The increased difficulty initially having to focus on the subtitles was a bit of a challenge (the tutorial, lord :V), but once I was more used to it was definitely worth the small cost. Dialog such as town NPCs also has the benefit of the reducing the perceived repeats of lines which helped with immersion.

It's hard finding a Youtube video featuring the Polish Ciri that doesn't contain spoilers, but this out of context scene at 3:14-4:12 gives an idea of what the voice is like (at least when speaking to a child). I've posted a better example earlier in the thread involving her, Geralt and another important character but it's late-game.

I like the polish voices, they fit so well with the characters (better than the english voices imo). But damn polish is quite unique, it's hard to distinguish anything, knowing some russian help a little tho.

Geralt really has a "no fucks given" vibe in polish.

Same here. I like polish VA, but english one sounds way more distinctive to me. I can hear Yen, Zoltan and Geralt and instantly recognize them, plus they fit my idea of their voice from the books. In polish, they sound less distinct, more uniform.

Yeah I've given up on completing my Gwent collection. It's just a mess. I'm missing around 40 cards and even though I'm using a checklist website, the locations of certain cards are either wrong or are glitched in my game (like Albrich being available from the Crow's Perch merchant even though he isn't).

Also, is anyone else getting this weird out of focus blur whenever you leave a vendor or exit a cutscene? It's really distracting. Didn't used to happen before.

Just started this today, I'm planning on streaming my playthrough on PS4 via YouTube like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SdZ8y34Xbgg

I just have a couple of questions:

- Is there a way to change the size of the subtitles?

- Is there a way to share a link to the stream via the PS4? When I started a stream the other day YouTube didn't seem to recognise a stream had started as it said 'Stream Offline' - since I started the stream via the PS4 and not via YouTube I think that might've been why, is there a way to check whether the stream's actually being shown?

It's really weird going from Bloodborne to this!

Quick question on Hearts of Stone. I'm just getting into the main game now but already love it and know I will end up buying the expansions. Does it slot into the rest of the story? If so I want to grab it before I get too far and just have it be another part of the main game.

It's not part of the main story, but the area fits seamlessly into the world. It's level 30+ content though, so you don't really have to pick it up until later in the game.

I've asked all my buddies for help at the Isle of Mists and I'm reading to go there now - how far through am I? It feels like I'm reaching a crescendo but all this "You're less than 50% of the way through" comments when you get to Skellige has me wondering!

You're about halfway through act 2. You got the rest of act 2 and then act 3 left. Note that act 1 is by far the longest act, but you still got quite a few hours left.

Yikes! Thanks! How do you know where the acts fall? I don't really remember experiencing anything that felt like the end of an act... Except I suppose helping out our... Little friend.

Getting to
Kaer Morhen
is actually the start of Act 2. It'll be pretty obvious where it's supposed to end.

There's no actual act breaks in the game, but strategy guide divided them up into acts, so that's what we use when referring to stuff. Act 1 ends when you finish the main quests in all 3 regions and get a quest back on the main land. Act 2 ends when you leave
Kaer Morhen
, although it always made more sense to me for it to be when you get access to the open world again.

Finished the game. Some thoughts on the end-game plot.

Does anyone else feel like the game ended on a bit of a weak note? Maybe it's because my mind was fucking BLOWN at the end of Act 2, but I was expecting somewhere along those lines but the game only "got" a fraction of that feeling. I feel like the idea of every major secondary character working together in Kaer Mohen (where the series started) was far more exciting and significant, and planning everything down to the letter of who was going to go where and seeing it all play out was amazing.

The real ending of the game, however, felt like a step-down in that regard. You only have the Lodge to work with you, and even then all they do is raise their hands and put up a shield. Caranthir and Eredin's battles were pretty cool, albeit gameplay-wise Eredin's was definitely the easiest of all major Wild Hunt battles so I feel like his menace is significantly hampered by the fact that he just wasn't too threatening.

After that the scope of the events is small. It's only Yen and Geralt in pursuit of Avallac'h, as opposed to the varied and likable cast that was at the end of Act 2. Ciri's "sacrifice" was a decent enough twist but they didn't really explain how she got back. The in-game sequences of walking to the Emperor, getting the sword, and going to the inn were very odd pace-breaking choices. All of these could've easily been done away with via cutscenes, because it really breaks up the mood of the ending by having you ride for 5 minutes like you've done for hours prior.

Lastly, your "lover" really doesn't show up in the in-engine ending, only mentioning what happens with her in a "painting" cutscene. It kinda felt out of place.

To be honest, I would've preferred if they had ended the game at Act 2. It's tough because I think having Imlerith, Caranthir, and Eredin all get killed in the same sequence would've "cheapened" their character/battle/death, but to be honest protracting the revenge plot was just more buildup for the sake of buildup. There really wasn't much payoff as opposed to what you were getting with Act 2's end. It really was just the perfect way to end the game. It really feels like CDPR put way more effort into constructing the Act 2 ending's scenario (all the cutscenes, sequences, pacing of rotating characters in and out, creating new mechanics just for that quest, etc.) way more than for the end of Act 3.

This also somewhat tangentially related, but I heard from several people that they found the ending of the game very emotional. Was it one very specific ending? Because mine was just Ciri "sacrificing" herself, reappearing later, and they go off on Witcher stuff. It was a nice ending, mind you, but hardly anything I'd call "emotional". Not the game's fault, though, wanna make that clear.

I actually preferred the fact that the game tried ending on a less epic note. Felt appropriate I think.

And your ending is one of three main variations. Mine had Ciri
become empress.

jesus the combat in this game is awful, like one of the worst i've ever played and the worst on a rpg. it's the first game that i ever put on easy just so i dont have to deal with that shit, and even then it's not that easy.
but on the plus side you dont even fight that much, especially compared to others rpgs, so it just bothers me a little.

Here's a mod for you then. It replaces combat with Gwent.

So I got $10 free PSN money that I'm looking to spend, and was wondering what everyone's thoughts on hearts of stone? I'm almost through the main story, level 32, and have really enjoyed the game. Easily one of my favorites this year.

Now admittedly, I don't play many DLC expansions, but Hearts of Stone is one of the best I've ever played. Good 10-20 extra hours of plot based gameplay(I didn't keep track). No regrets. If The Witcher 3 is one of your favourites games this year, you'll love HoS.

Can't wait for Blood and Wine.

Okay, I got the Card collector achievement. For some reason, 40 of the cards had glitched out and gone invisible when I was last playing. Now they are back and the achievement popped after buying one last card in one of Velen's cities.

And I sorted out the blur as well. Apparently I had the depth of field slider on. Turn that shit off. It is absolutely awful. Why would I want everything to be blurry after a cut scene/interaction? I don't know if the latest update added that or I accidentally turned it on but if you're on PC, I'd advise turning it off.

I'm level 32 at the moment and I'm helping
Triss find Phillipa Eilhart. How far am I from the ending? If I get to the ending, can I play the DLC still or does the game immediately go to new game+? Is there any notable side missions that are easily missed? I know I've done all the witcher contracts and witcher gear hunts from the base game. Done nothing from the HOS expansion.

This damned game, man. I swear. Everything is like twice as big as I'm expecting; tell myself I'll do a quick quest before bedtime, ends up being a couple hours wandering about some giant ruins with a couple cool bosses and plenty of good loot. And even the smallest side characters are so believable and fun.

You're only a few quests away from the ending. The only notable side-mission that is easily missed is
Reasons of State which can be unlocked provided you do the following:
- Redania's Most Wanted
- An Eye for an Eye
- A Deadly Plot (which only unlocks if you help Triss escort mages out of Novigrad in Now or Never)
- And do not, I repeat, do not shove Djikstra forcefully no matter how much of a dick he acts in your current quest

Voila, Reasons of State unlocked

And to answer your questions about NG+ and Hearts of Stone. You can start the expansion at any time (even post-main quest) provided you are at its recommended level (32 for NG/62 for NG+). And NG+ will unlock once you make a manual save after you finished the main quests, so no, you won't get to NG+ straight away after finishing the game.

I think I did Redania's Most Wanted but I gave the crystal to Triss. Did that mess stuff up?

And thanks for the heads up. Guess I'll complete the game and do the HOS expansion afterwards.

Actually, giving the crystal to Triss or Radovid doesn't affect anything, so don't worry

I finally fully patched the game on PS4 and wow. I don't remember which patch I had before but the game is ridiculously smooth now on PS4, including the camera turning where it feels nice to spin it like a maniac without expecting any drops.

Man I've just finished
Reasons of State. Ended up killing Djikstra. The power had gone to his head and I couldn't let him harm my boy Roche. Also completed Avallach's quest which was a nice change of pace. Lovely scenery. And I also did Ciri's quest as well. Another lighthearted quest which I fully enjoyed. Great character building once again.

All I need to do is Yen's quest now which I feel will start the beginning of the end

it drops a lot for me, novigrad is awful most of the time. before the patch was unplayable then.

Quest regarding Brothers in Arms Novigrad Quest

I'm trying to get all possible side characters. Going to mark as spoilers just in case. It's very minor.

I can never get dijkstra to agree to help.

Do I have to ask Menge about the treasure during Count Reuven's Treasure quest( I just asked about Dandelion and nothing else)? or is it impossible to recruit dijkstra to help due to a bug? I pass all dialogue options and escape without being detected.

It's been a while since I played the game, but iirc you have to use Axii during the scene where he wants to torture Triss. If you don't have the Axii talent then you may be screwed. Djikstra only offers financial support anyway and isn't part of any achievement or anything.

I only checked Novigrad out for like 2 minutes. It dropped a little in the beginning (not by a crazy amount though) probably because it was still loading things in, but it seemed fine afterwards. I didn't think it was "unplayable" at all before the most recent patches.

I mainly ran around fields, fought a few enemies, and also checked out the swamp and was pretty impressed at the performance.

Basically it's not worth having Triss get tortured for a few extras crowns. Will killing all Witch Hunters still allow me to do Assassination of King?

You need to question Menge about the treasure in order to get Djikstra's support.

But really, its just 1000 crowns, so not a big deal

Anyone? Patch 1.04 says it increased the font size but I don't see a way to actually adjust it, these subtitles are tiny. I can probably make do but it'd help out a lot if it's possible to increase the size of them.

Oh wow, I like the results of completely ignoring Crach an Craite's children's quests in Skellige. Quite surprising

Birna makes Svanrige a puppet king, but it backfires when he grows a pair and decides to axe a Nilfgaardian negotiator right in the chest, going against his mother's wishes entirely, then afterwards becomes the king who united Skellige's clans together. I really wanted some major quests where Geralt's meddling actually makes things worse in the long run, and it seems here I got it

Brilliant, CDProjektRED.
