The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt |OT3| Metz Some Ploughing Good Ladies In the Forest

nortonff

Hi, I'm nortonff. I spend my life going into threads to say that I don't care about the topic of the thread. It's a really good use of my time.
Quen .... and redo your abilities.
The only abilities that are active are the ones that are placed in the slots to the right.
That said you should focus on 1 or 2 trees. For me i only have my points in Combat and Signs..

Combat has like 30 points Signs maybe 5.....

When fighting starts I just hold square to attack like 10 times per second with the flurry attack... and Quen usually holds up for the entire time until everything dies.

I'll give that a try, thanks!

I feel like I've exhausted all the quests. The only quests that remain under secondary are the races, fist fights and Gwent related stuff, all of which I don't really care about. Currently level 40.

One thing I never really did during my playthrough was to check out all the many question marks upon the map. Most are monster dens or other miscellaneous stuff. My question is this: How many of these random question marks have actual quests tied to them, if any?

Finished the
Wedding
quest from HoS last night and the
romancing Shani
side quest. Goddamn, some of the best quests I've ever played in an RPG.
Vlodimir-Geralt
was hilarious, the writing was great, and it was just a very enjoyable change of pace from your typical quests. HoS so far is absolutely amazing and CDPR did a great job of nailing the dark atmosphere.

So finally got around to playing this and I think I'm enjoying it. Should I buy the expansion an install it before I finish the game? Does it integrate into the main game or is it a stand alone module?

It's high level quests (starting at 30) within the main game world, but the plot isn't connected to the main story, so it doesn't matter if you do them during the main game or after.

I think I played too much of this over new years break. Was getting some weird dreams making me restless.

Having switched from PC to ps4 I'm not noticing a huge difference. I wasn't playing all maxed out though, and was at 30fps on PC too.

I got the PC one free and played up to novigrad, loved it and decided to support the dev by buying it on ps4.

Put another 7 hours in today. Almost outta Novigrad at like level 30+. Game has me hooked to see what's next.

I can't wait to finish the Assassins quest line. I have to wait until the end of the game for the last two parts though since I'm not that far, but completed the other 4.

I think I just might follow the main quest and assassins quest line, and some contracts (love the contracts) for here on out and finish the game.

Getting frustrated with this game.

I started a few days ago, on Hard difficulty but now lowered that one level back so I can bloody heal, and ... I'm still on level 3. I get owned if I try to follow the main story (
grinding away at the golem for 5 minutes and only reduced its health by 1/3 and then I'm dead again, this is NOT fun
), and I am basically just wandering the land trying to find any quest that's even remotely achievable by my level 3 character - the minimum level is 5 which is the main story. I've got a village that I have partially rescued, and there's no monsters around but it's still greyed out. The only potion seller I can find has a locked door.

What the hell am I doing wrong?!

So, Yen and I just
brought a dead body back to life on Skellige, poor dude, I encouraged her to keep him alive and talking... anyway, after the cut scenes, and brief stint as scantily clad Ciri, we've determined she is travelling with a masked man
... the search continues.

How far into the main story would you say I am?

I finally beat this game over the last weekend. The one thing I regret doing, especially after seeing the epilogue of sorts is that I never
killed Radovid
. Overall I have to say that my favorite thing about this game has to be the fact that the sidequests are usually well written and don't amount to 'Collect 5 bear anuses'. Also, the fact that choices have consequences that aren't obvious is pretty welcome as well. After I finished the game I went back and looked at how you achieve the different endings and was a little surprised at some of the events that change
Ciri
's ending.

You still got quite some way to go. :)

If youre going Velen->Novigrad->Skellige then youre nearing the halfway point depending on if youre doing side quests or not

Great news... seems the main story is just getting started. I'm LVL 18... at what LVL should I expect to finish the game?
Assuming you do a fair bit of the side stuff, and not counting the DLC, I'd say around level 32-35

Shiiiiit. I am just about finished with Novigrad's main quests and have a few side quests to tackle. I haven't even gone to Skellige yet. Nuts that I still have so much to do! This game!

BioShock Infinite is like playing some homeless guy's vivid imagination
I attempted the Missing Brothers contract at level 23 even though the suggested level is 33/34, and I had an EPIC battle taking down
Harrisi
.

The experience really captured The Witcher for me, as it took ALL my planning, skills, signs, and potions to bring this monster down. Preparing for the battle based on the clues given to me throughout the cave was a sublime and immersive experience.

There is a separate difficulty level for Gwent in the menu's iirc.

I'm playing on hard and the Gwent Tournament was really challenging with all those damn spy cards, but I managed at the end! I can't get enough Gwent

Sadly, I forget to get the card from the Baron :(

Gwent online would be nice. I'd pay for that.

I really would like to see how the game holds up with 2 people playing against each other.

Unrelated question - I'm almost level 19 and still at Novigrad since I'm doing all the side quests and still have a few left. Should I leave them for now and go to Skellige?

It wouldn't hold up, according to CDPR.
While fans have long wondered if "The Witcher 3's" Gwent card mini-game might eventually become its own title, Stachyra seemingly replied in the negative. "In the form gamers know it from Wild Hunt, Gwent was designed to be a single player experience and can't become a standalone game," she said. "I mean, the game is designed to allow you to be almost invincible at the end of the story. This wouldn't work in PvP."

That essentially suggests that CD Projekt won't be using its development allowance to take on the likes of Blizzard's "Hearthstone" anytime soon. That is, not unless the Gwent concept undergoes some significant balancing changes.

Thanks to all this GOTY talk I picked up this game again after a long hiatus (Destiny addiction). Wow have I been missing out. I'm so glad I gave it another try and after a recent playthrough of Dark Souls 2 it's a refreshing palette cleanser.

I just arrived to Skellige and it feels like the next gen Skyrim I've been craving. This game is just a blast to play and I'm so happy to know there's dozens of hours left especially with the dlc.

If you feel like it. You might out-level a bunch of Novigrad stuff you have left rather quickly while in Skellige, but nothing is locked out or anything. Go when you wish

Gwent. Should I focusing on one deck (Northern Realms) or building all of them?
Get every single card you ever come across, regardless of faction. Never ever pass up a card that's either on sale or able to be won/acquired.

You'll have a decent Northern Realms deck before any other faction though, and (in my opinion) the Northern Realms deck is the best one anyway.

I hope they might find time to rework it for PvP between the release of the next expansion and Cyberpunk 2077

I'm already out-leveling the majority, if not all of the quests there.
I also finished 2 quests that were way above my level at the time because I wanted access to what they granted

I think I'll just finish these off and go to Skellige afterwards, level 19 is pretty high but most of the side quests there are probably are 20+ right?

You get cards by finishing quests and discovering more locations so there's not really much a choice? You will get cards regardless.

I have yet to reach Skellige but finished a ton of side quests in Velen and Novigrad and have more than enough cards for Northen Realms, Nilfgaard and Scoia'tael

The best cards I've got imo are for Scoia'tael. For Nilfgaard I got a lot of close combat cards that rely on the same name trait and that's a mechanic that I don't really like relying on, maybe when I get more reliable cards

Monsters is the only deck so far that I don't have enough cards to play with

What about cards I already have? buy those too?

Is there any reason the playtime clock on PS4 would be inaccurate? It says I've played 45 hours, since Monday, which seems insane to me. Oh, and this game is really really good. I just finished the
cursed island
quest, and the
design and visual effect of the ghost lady is so very good.

Have you been using the suspend mode while playing? Cause the clock will still run in suspend mode

This is driving me nuts,

I need to craft some gear, but each item requires blacksmith/journeyman,amateur, so on.

Is there a way to know what skill the craftsmen is before traveling to them, or even what they do like blacksmith? On the map it doesn't show anything, and I've been fast traveling everywhere looking for the right one.

Need to craft: Griffin silver sword, griffin steel sword and assassin's trousers.

Edit: resorted to a guide.

Amateur craftsmen are mainly found in villages and Journeymen in towns with more established setups. The Master craftsmen on the other hand are located in just two locations and have associated quests so you'll come to know who they are.

I was reading up as little as possible about the main romances since I didn't want to mess anything up, and I'm confused. Spoilers just in case.

So I'm just finished with most all of the Novigrad quests and saved the Triss side quest for last. If I'm reading guides correctly, I have this 1 shot to secure a romance with her, and if I decide against it I can't ever return to Triss and get it back?

So if I secure it, then decide I prefer Yen later in the main quest, I get no one. If I don't secure it with Triss now, then decide I don't want Yen but would prefer Triss, I get no one? So I have to know and choose now basically who I should choose? That seems odd.

Or am I reading this wrong? Can I put off Triss's side quest until I've gone to Skellige, met with Yen again and did quests with her to decide? Thank you!

Yes, you can do this.

Although most people didn't do this and found themselves in the same position you thought you were. It's a common complaint with the structure of things. People who try to complete everything in an area before moving on have to make a decision without all the information.

Perfect, thank you! I realized this while I was typing the post, it didn't occur to me beforehand.

So, I used 2x XP and now I'm like level 31 or so, and I'm just heading to skillige. I turned it off. Anyways, with it off grey quest should not give me xp right, since I want to level it out at the end.

W3 is Super Bunnyhop's 'Super-legit GOTY' 2015. One of my favorite reviewers (certainly my favorite gaming-wise) and was both surprising and pleasing to see it as his top choice, along with his thoughts on games and trends this year.

...
What the hell am I doing wrong?!
Just as a follow-up: having followed the story along for a bit at the start of my play (up to going to see the emperor) I had not realised that the game had moved me from the initial easy area (White Orchard) to an area I shouldn't be in (Veren) and I was supposed to travel back to level up and make a bunch of basic oils and bombs before going back to Veren to have any chance of progress.

Frustration level much lower now, enjoyment level much higher.
Bad game designer, no cookie.

Ok so started playing this on the XB1 am playing on the 'Blood & Broken Bones' difficulty setting and am just find im constantly on low health, food sources dont seem to fill my health up much at all and the only option i have is to keep using 'Swallow' all the time and the enemies just seem to rip through my health. Does this get any easier when i start to level up more?

Outside of potions like Swallow and White Raffard's decoction, water's the best consumable item to stock up for health replenishment.

Best way to keep your health up is to upgrade the alternate of Quen so that it can absorb damage.

Yeah, this game gets easier and easier. It has a reverse difficulty curve, just like Witcher 2. Imo it's the biggest flaw of this game, which I otherwise consider a masterpiece. I started at normal, but at ~ level 20-22, I had turned it up to Death March.

Did a lot of Gwebt cards change their appearance in a patch?

Looking at some guides from the summer it looks like a lot of the cards I have now looked different. For example, the Ciri and Yen cards are definitely different.

There is an alternate card art dlc. The guides probably have the original art.

I got a question about a main story quest in Skellige with Yennefer.

So is there any way around Yennefer using necromancy to get information from the Craven? Or is she going to drain the gardens power no matter what.
