Guys I'm lvl 18 in Novigrad and still rocking Griffin armor but it is kinda outdated by now I think. So what armor set should I go for next?

GOG counter has me at 99 hours. Level 30 now and still have not started "Final Preparations". Just going around doing sub level 30 Witcher contracts/side quests.

God I love this game.

It's up there as one of my all time favorites. Probably haven't enjoyed a game this much since the original Mass Effect, and before that Fallout/Fallout 2.

Gangs of Novigrad is glitched on me. Can't complete the quest before Roche so it will probably fail. Really annoyed as a completionist.

That's not a glitch. Gangs of Novigrad will always fail if you choose to look for Junior on your own (i.e. check out his home, casino and arena by yourself). It's just an alternative path to go through that part of the game, but you cannot do both.

Well I don't like the idea of it showing up as a failed quest when I didn't even want to start it in the first place

I got the tavern music stuck in my head since yesterday. I want the weekend to come soon so I can play again.

Speaking of tavern music, I like that small bit of animation where Geralt seems a bit lost in his reverie whilst listening to Priscillia. Wonder whom he was thinking of?

It's Triss

There is a way to pass it. What I did was finish the Casino portion by myself, and help
Cleaver's
guys at the fighting pit.
Cleaver
gives you half pay, and the quest is completed.

I decided to give up on my first playthrough since I screwed up by venturing beyond the point of no return and failing a shitload of quests.

By the end of Act 2 I found myself just button mashing and sometimes using some Signs just for the heck of it. I also caught myself in wanting to skip through the Main Story just so I could do my second playthrough, and that somewhat shocked me towards an extent that I actually hit myself on the head and said to myself;

"Why in the world am I rushing such a beautiful game? Just start over and do every single thing you wanted to do, with the added knowledge that you are better off putting the Main Quest aside after you completed every single side quest, with the exception of some of the essential Main Quests to reach new area's"

I straight up clicked on New Game and went for Death March. Just put 2 hours into it and it feels damn more rewarding on that difficulty than it ever did on Story and Sword. It makes me feel like the badass Witcher I played in The Witcher 2, with careful planning using the needed oils/bombs and dodging/rolling at certain attacks.

And so here I am....

Agreed, Death March is the optimal difficulty in my opinion. It actually takes a degree of skill to take out enemies, and makes it all the more rewarding when you get OP towards the end of the game and wreck everything.

I've only met two Trolls so far (outside Oxenfurt and in Novigrad), but man those are some hilariously charming characters.

I can't hate them because you get the sense that they're trying really really really hard to think things through and find the right words, but well, can't. Gotta admire their perseverance.

The rock trolls are the best. You'll met a bunch more of them. None will beat the rock troll outside Oxenfurt though. He's so cute on the inside, lol. I love how troubled he gets when he realizes that he doesn't know how to draw.

As long as you agree to cooperate with Cleaver, you won't fail the quest. If you want the quest to not be marked as failed, and still go about it your way, simply avoid talking to the dwarves that're staked out in front of the casino and arena entrances.

Cleaver won't reward you for doing things this way, but the mission won't be marked as failed.

Yes it will, that's exactly what I did and it marked as failed for me.

Didn't for me, and I just went through it the other day. Did you speak with Cleaver to conclude the quest? Before you went to Dijkstra, and then Roche?

Yeah I just went through it the other day too, but I don't think I spoke to him afterwards so that'd be it. Not really a big deal to me anyway really.

So I've been taking a break from the game (and the thread) since just before Batman came out.

Has there been any update on patches and, specifically, what they might bring to the table (hoping for some interface/menu improvements)?

Is it just me..or are secondary quests mostly pointless? I've done a bunch so far and none of them have any real good rewards. Like what's the point of doing these quests for 50 gold and 50 xp really...

I'm level 21 and I understand doing secondary quests at the lower levels for the gold or something, but it just seems easier to get gold by killing stuff and selling the loot.

Does anyone know where to buy the recipes for alchemy substances, bombs, oils and potions?

I'm trying to get them all to superior but im missing several of them and while I have the ingredients, I realized that I need the recipe (or at least I think I do since no one I go to is able to craft them) in order to be able to craft them.

I'm currently in Skellige and cleared out White Orchard, Velen and Novigrad but I don't want to have to go visit every individual merchant, herbalist, blacksmith and armorer so if anyone can help me out, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

To be honest, I don't do the the secondary quests for the rewards, but for the actual story going on. Much more interesting if you ask me.

I just jumped back into this game after a couple weeks in Battlefield 4 and a little Batman action, and I've been in complete awe (again). Not that you guys need reminded, but this game is beautiful and amazing. It's also easy to see the improvement that patches have made to performance. Don't think I can go back to Batman.

Bald Mountain spoilers.

Holy shit at Geralt burning Imlerith inside his helmet with Igni. And then smashing his head in with his own weapon.

Every time I met a merchant/herbalist/alchemist/armourer/blacksmith/innkeeper in this game I did the following:
  1. Bought every Gwent card they sold.
  2. Bought every diagram they sold.
  3. Played (and beat) them in Gwent.
I'd recommend everyone take that approach.

+1 to this. I don't do them for Geralt's experience, I do them for mine :)

1.07 will have mutagen fix.... right?
Is it only PC affected by this issue? On PS4 I have the runestone crafting bug instead.

Just run past everyone and kill the last mob solo. Happened to me yesterday.

Pretty dumb that they still haven't patched it yet. Massive bug.
Yep, did this quest last night and had the same bug. The 'run to the end and kill the last mob solo' workaround worked for me as well thankfully.

Just finished off my Mastercrafted Ursine armor and weapons! So good.

I just started the
Final Preparations
quest line... Does this mean I don't have much of the main story left? :(

What's the mutagen fix? I've noticed an almost complete lack of lesser red mutagens. I wasn't even able to craft my first greater red mutagen until like 80 hours in.... So hopefully that's what you mean.

No, I think that's intentional maybe? I'm talking about losing the base bonus from a mutagen every time you load a game, you get the bonus for slotting the right skills but not the base mutagen bonus unless you remove it and reslot it. I think it's fixed on Console? dunno.

Skellige level 15 drowners dropped them. Also some foglets occasionally.

I'm sure there is a typo somewhere, because that's literally impossible to achieve unless you used some mod.

My bad, I forgot about the mod I had installed for a while (1.05 broke it and I had to reinstall the game) but it included visual mods, a tweak to make the witcher sense remain active longer after right click and an xp fix. FWIW, I didn't know it was basically a cheat, I thought it was a genuine fix, I only added that because I saw people reporting problems with XP gains after early patches.

You know a game is truly amazing when you're 140 hours into it, and you hit a part in the story that makes you think the end is nigh... and you have a mild panic attack due to not wanting this experience to end.

Progress request:
Just finished Isle of Mists and Imlireth fight... would I be right in assuming I'm about 90% of the way into the story?
Final Preparations is my current quest... I'm hoping I'm wrong and only 70% through and the game is tricking me lol.
