He is the best. And the snow is crap. But the others managed just fine and deservedly won the medals.
And jeez the Japanese guys are only 15 and 18...
First time seeing this Shaun White dude. Not impressed.
iPod guy was amazing though.
Age doesn't really mean much as older riders are still the best in halfpipe. White is on another level and he is about to be 28

damn, disappointing finish for White.
I thought Hirano actually had the better run than IPod, though...
Why is this sport only just now being added for women?
Were there too few competitors?
"Extreme" sports are entertaining to watch but it is a bit lame that the very best in the world still fail to land clean runs a lot of the time (at least in these Olympics, land a clean run and you are top 5 guaranteed almost)
Only the 3rd year for women competing in World Cup events. Not really sure why. It's not like the facilities weren't available. Established enough now for olympic addition. Why is this sport only just now being added for women?

Yeah. At least slopestyle has specific elements plus speed and danger. More technically judgeable."Extreme" sports are entertaining to watch but it is a bit lame that the very best in the world still fail to land clean runs a lot of the time (at least in these Olympics, land a clean run and you are top 5 guaranteed almost)

Halfpipe sucks. It's way too sloppy and subjective.
If they wanna add X Games stuff, add races, not judged events.
Otherwise, everyone probably would just try to near-crash as far as possible. By having to land correctly, this behaviour is mitigated.Couldn't they just judge based on the distance they travel? Why does everything need style points?
Potentially stupid question, but why does ski jumping even have judges?

Also: tradition.
I guess.
Seems like the only one being able to judge landings is the guy from the country the landing's name comes from. Figures.
Well, yes, but you can get much closer to a crash by just having to land on your skis than by having to correctly "stand" your landing.Well you'd obviously have to land on your skis, add a line somewhere down the hill you need to cleanly pass.

Okay, COME ON NOW CARINA! FLIIIIIIIEEEEEG (as they say in Germany)!
Yeah, men's board slopestyle judging seemed weird. The women's event judging seemed more logical. The scoring in the men's slopestyle was sloppy and soured the event debut imo.
