Rigged!

JK, I'm happy for Virtue and Moir, a little sad their short program didn't score higher based on all the analysis I heard, and what I saw, but I'm glad they came out today with an amazing performance regardless.

That redemption is going to be sweet tomorrow

As for the icedancing, both the Canadian and the Americans skated a mistake-free program but I thought the Americans choreography was easily a step above as they had more content.

As for any rigging, the Americans score was way higher than the Canadians(that difference is substantial in a sport like this).

Fair and square.

Ski jumping would break me like a wish bone. There's a speed skating club here though. Not that I'd win any races but I would have to stick to something on skates to avoid death.

Speed skating is thre NASCAR of the winter olympics. Everyone is waiting for the next crash!
Sadly I missed most of the races. :/

Well, if nothing else at least Prevc was the best jumper tonight. Hopefully he keeps his form and wins the world cup. :)

Austria with a medal in ski jumping, what is the world coming to...

Pointer will be bitter as hell

Not as bitter as I am. Only one silber medal is a big disappointment compared to the effort and money we put into that sport.

Schlierenzauer mentioned we have not the best equipment ... so much for excuses :)

Congratulations to Germany - a deserved win and a thrilling competition.

Send some guys to Poland/German service box over night, maybe they will find something. :p
Will Pointner move over at the end of this season? There are rumors that coach that is training Norway national team could return.

Oh and one more thing:
Will you watch hockey tomorrow? :p

Oh god, this is the worst excuse ever. He just went downhill... after downhill.

If the Swiss play like that again, they are going to be at least as dominant against Sweden in the bronze final as Canada was against them today.

I don't think we need much personal change if the people involved are open to new ideas and valid crticism. Currently everything seems a bit intransparent and reminiscent of better days.

Of course I will watch Vanek destroy Slovenia ;-)
Well to be honest it is a small miracle we even qualified so either way I am happy.

Finland is usually a bronze contender for women's hockey.
Must be a disappointing games for Finland in a lot of events. Only 2 silver so far.

Bronze! by our worst biathlete. She's never been better than third in any race, so this is far better than expected

She's been the best/2nd best for the Olympics, so that she would be the best Norwegian today shouldn't come as much of a surprise. Getting the bronze though... Great news to wake up too.

What's funny?

What's this about?

Kaisa Makarainen (I believe it's spelled), medal contender who will most likely retire without ever winning an Olympic medal.

You mean you will watch how Kopitar will destroy Austria? :p

I agree, we both should be happy - this tournament is like swan's song of our professional hockey, so I am looking forward to the game ;)

Didn't watch the ice dance but Virtue and Moir brought their A game but came up short. Not much to be disappointed about.

I still think that their program was better than the americans'.
It was like their last dance and it had so much emotion and passion however I can hardly tell that about Meryl and her partner. Also, the technique is not my concern.

Watching the Olympics in the US is just a brutal experience. Even if you do have all the NBC channels to see all the events you still have to deal with the delays they institute.

Brazil will be worse because the timezones will be the same but NBC will delay any big sports that took place in the day until prime time. I don't understand why they can't show it live for whoever can watch it and then just show it again for their evening show.

Everything is being streamed live.

The interesting thing about Davis/White and Virtue/Moir is that even though they train together under the same coach, their styles are pretty discernibly different. The former have a much more bombastic approach to their skating, while the latter employ a more subtle and intimate charisma. I really like both, but for any spectator (maybe even judge), the difference between which pair is better could easily just come down to personal preference, because they're both so good.

These olympics really have been disaster for us. Press is gonna go for kill after the games. There is pretty much only one ''sure'' medal left (team sprint in women cross country skiing) and couple of ''maybe'' medals (women 30km cross country skiing and Ice hockey men). Still can't believe how our women's ice hockey team lost to sweden after playing good games against US and Canada.

I know it's their home court and everything, but as a Russian, it's heartwarming that this is the best they've done since Lilihammer(sic). And I know the whole Russian homophobia debacle tarnished it a lot as well. But man, it feels good that we are doing well after the last three or four pathetic Olympic performances.
