I just did a quick Google search - seems about right

Tom Holland, Anya Taylor-Joy, Adam Driver, Zendaya, Margot Robbie, Zoe Kravitz, Chris Pratt, Michael B Jordan, Remi Malek, Hailee Steinfeld, Ana de Armas, Robert Pattinson...

Tons of actors and actresses still in the infancy or earlier part of their careers. Not really sure what qualifies as a star to you, but pretty sure the average person knows every name I listed above plus more.
I have no idea who half the list is

I’m sure there are new stars, the problem is that they think I care about their opinions and politics, of which I do not. I ignore that they exist, which is funny when friends tell me about new actors and I have no clue who they are…even though I have seen their work on screen.

That’s a pretty zoomer exclusive list.

As far as spanning generations (I think OP is referring to names that come to mind instantly across all age groups)…

Maybe Adam Driver - because of Star Wars, and Chris Pratt would definitely be the biggest… I think. In fact Chris Pratt is the only one I would be confident to say stood a chance in this list across all generations to reach a respectable percentage.

Pattinson I think would be next… then maybe Armas or Robbie, but I think you are seeing dwindling returns at this point as far as mass recognition goes.

And Chris Pratt is... 43, the whippersnapper!

Anya Taylor-Joy, Zoe Kravitz (I'm assuming she's related to Lenny Kravitz?), Hailee Steinfeld and Ana de Armas.

Anya Taylor-Joy - Split, Glass, The Northman, Last Night in Soho, Emma, The Queens Gambit.
Hailee Steinfeld - Pitch Perfect 2 and 3, Bumblebee, True Grit, Edge of Seventeen, Hawkeye.
Ana de Armas - Knock Knock, Knives Out, No Time to Die, The Grayman, Bladerunner 2049, Blonde

Oh brother... you need to expand your library.

Okay, I still don’t know who any of these people are outside of Anya Taylor-Joy. She’s also in The Witch, correct? If so, she’s fantastic. Still need to see last night in soho and Northman.

Bloody hell, yes, she is in The Witch, can't believe I missed that one. It's the film that put her on my watch radar.
I'd recommend watching Knives Out for Ana De Armas and Edge of Seventeen for Hailee Steinfeld (Bumblebee is a great film too if you haven't seen it).

A lot of these young “stars” don’t stand out at all - who’s the next Brando? Eastwood? Nicholson? I swear I can’t tell the difference between these Chris Hemsworth (?), Pine, Evans types - they all look the fucking same.

I've seen Knives Out. I thought it was good at the time but I honestly can't remember a single thing about it. if she's the lead, I don't think it is really fair to lump her in the same category as Anya. nothing about her performance stood out as exceptional to me.

I've never heard of Edge of Seventeen and I have not seen Bumblebee. I have Transformers fatigue.

Robert Pattinson is the only really stand out actor amongst the youngins being listed.

he's actually the best actor currently working IMO. I can't even think of anyone who comes close.

edit: type to talk lol

Feels like Hollywood is moving away from Star driven projects. I think it was Anthony Mackie who gave an interview about how people go to see Capt America and not Chris Evans. Studios want control and a movie Star will ask for more money and concessions in their contract (Tom Cruise). Fast and Furious franchise probably wouldn’t be as popular if it was just Vin Diesel, compared to a whole ensemble of actors/actresses.

I think the success of not only youtube but reality TV taught Hollywood that they don't need to pay big actors 20 million a pop to sell entertainment. They're just recycling the same geezers until they die off and are left with a new generation of nobodies who can be easily manipulated

this thread is the definition of old man yelling at the clouds cuz people are listing big hollywood stars in this thread yet other posters are like "never heard of em"

But i do agree that people also look to social media influencers a lot more now too.

I can't tell you anything about Logan Paul but I just know he's still very popular. Or people like Ninja.

Hm, you might be right, when I think of the 80's and 90's, I think Schwarzenegger, Stallone, Tom Cruise, Van Damme, Bruce Willis. Can't think of anyone who will be remembered like that of this new generation.

And even the famous ones now, Tom Holland, Christ Pratt, The Rock, whatever, they barely got one good movie if that. They don't have those classic all-time sorts of movies.

I think some of this is the ready access to old stuff. I don't need new stars, I can watch the old stuff whenever I want. Plus these guys are hanging in there a LOOOOOONG time, Stallone still doing it!

Did people forget what a Hollywood star is? People like Tom Cruise or Arnold. Recognisable all over the world.

The star system was the method of creating, promoting and exploiting stars in Hollywood films from the 1920s until the 1960s.

The star system put an emphasis on the image rather than the acting, although discreet acting, voice, and dancing lessons were a common part of the regimen.

The phenomenon of stardom has remained essential to Hollywood because of its ability to lure spectators into the theater. Following the demise of the studio system in the 1950s and '60s, the star system became the most important stabilizing feature of the movie industry. This is because stars provide film makers with built in audiences who regularly watch films in which their favorite actors and actresses appear.[7]

Chalamet should be the next Leo as long as he continues to stick with good, nonsuperhero movies like Leo did. I was originally going to say Gosling but damn he’s 41

Honestly I’m more worried about the state of directors. But you should see who the best directors cast and those are your stars basically

Scorcese - He always casts Leo as the lead. And these are real movies that may not have a brand so you need a star.

McKay - say what you want but if you’re in his movie you’re a star. Look at Don’t Look Up/Big Short.

Denis - only works with stars
Nolan, Tarantino, etc.

Is there a new young director stars will work with? It’s good that directors have a long lifespan
