there are no new Hollywood Stars

There is some strange shit being said in this thread....

That’s a pretty zoomer exclusive list.

As far as spanning generations (I think OP is referring to names that come to mind instantly across all age groups)…

Maybe Adam Driver - because of Star Wars, and Chris Pratt would definitely be the biggest… I think. In fact Chris Pratt is the only one I would be confident to say stood a chance in this list across all generations to reach a respectable percentage.

Pattinson I think would be next… then maybe Armas or Robbie, but I think you are seeing dwindling returns at this point as far as mass recognition goes.

I don't understand what you mean. Are you saying that list is basically only recognized by kids and teens or that the list is comprised of gen Z actors? I mean, it's not really either of those since gen Z is only barely old enough now to go to movies by themselves or live on their own. I mean, Jennifer Lawrence is on that list and she's in her 30s. Everyone else is 23-28 years old. Not exactly young...

The Rock in recent times had that Schwarzenegger style star appeal that could sell tickets and Hollywood were just making movies cause he was in it. But has never had a movie like Terminator to his name
Uhh... The Rock has gotten old. His movie star days started 20 years ago. He may not have had movies like The Terminator, but he was in some pretty big ones like The Mummy Returns and Sahara. He's had a good run in Fast and Furious. I've gotta admit that looking at his filmography, though, he's been in just a crap load of movies that I've had no interest in seeing, including two Jumanji films. I find it kind of sad how many potentially good films he's starred in that it kind of feels like a mix of the movies just not being worth a shit versus did Dwayne Johnson simply sell out?

By contrast, his voice work in movies like Moana is just unforgettable. I mean like on par with Robin Williams in Alladin good.

I think probably the issue is that a lot of movies released in the past 10 years have largely been indistinguishable from dog shit. There is on a rare occasion such a good movie that you basically have to run out to the community theater and see it right away. That makes it pretty difficult to really gain name and face recognition if the movies coming out aren't appealing to audiences across all ages.

Just say you want her to step on you and get the subtle weirdness out of the way you crepe.

Pattinson Holland and Cavill. Those are the new handsome boys like those of Pitt, Dicaprio, Ledger era.

Didn't even know he existed until Dune and looked him up and all he's done is artsy-fartsy stuff. The critics' darling, but not what I would call a Hollywood star.

Kid was in intersteller.

Gen Z ages are 10-25. You act like they are 13 years olds. 17.5 is the median age.

Yes, most of those stars would be recognized by Z.

My parents generation however and continuing would have very little knowledge if they heard the name “Tom Holland”.

Compare that to a young child in the 90s who would know “Arnold Schwarzenegger” just like their parents, and still likely grandparents would.

They stretch of “name plate” stars is fading. Barely any of this list is cross generational today.

Why? Idk, several reasons. Hollywood is losing focus of making generational films while focusing on a lot of other stuff. Actors signing long contracts to play the same role without much range involved. A general loss of interest in Hollywood for numerous reasons, truly good writers are disappearing and the younger generation of them is untalented and can’t find fresh ideas, etc.

Everyone in this thread who thinks there are no more Hollywood actors, how many actors can you name from the 40s, 50s and 60s without Googling? I'm guessing there isn't many. My point is different generations have "their" actors.

Like many people who choose not to follow modern music artists, there are many people who choose not to follow modern Hollywood actors.

To survive in modern Hollywood, you need to be completely generic and inoffensive so as to not anger one oppressed group or another. Hard to become a star when you have the personality of scrubbed cardboard because having an opinion by accident could end your career.

First person I thought of after reading the title was adam driver

The guys almost 40, nobody knew who he was a decade ago, and he's fucking everywhere now

Margot robbie and Anya Taylor joy as well have had a similar rise to fame

I think what's confusing OP, is that content is so much more available than in decades past (exponentially), that you just don't see the same names recycled as often.

Who believes there are no Hollywood actors lol
There are more actors than ever but no stars, that's the point.

Yup, it's an unfortunately common sentiment on media forums. Likely because forums in general are losing their relevancy.

"There's no new Hollywood stars"
"There's no new rock bands"
"There's no new vide games worth getting excited about"

People are aging out of the target demographic for these desired mediums, and are growing more ignorant to what's out there. To be fair, entertainment is certainly in somewhat of a teenage period between the old systems and a more direct delivery method via services like YouTube, Twitch, and TikTok.

Still, yes I agree wholeheartedly.

Adam Driver should be an absolute HERO to all gaffers. Just look at this transformation!

Those ladies will have to survive the aging process without horrible plastic surgery. So many promising actresses never get to mature in their career because they totally mess with their face.

Another thing is that there seems to be plastic surgery "styles" that are "en vogue" at the time people get them. So not only do they end up looking unnatural as they age, it's also the bizarro aging version of a beauty that's out of style, if that makes sense.

This graphic shows what I'm talking about. For example, Cheek Implants increased by over 1000% from 2007 to 2020. Come 2040, the people who got cheek implants (and didn't revert them later) are going to stand out like a sore thumb.
